Sooooo, any ETA on weapons/tools?
[t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/487806724350610995/DAA5E4229EE3A819DA90F1381DBA59C7F528AEAA/[/t] I found out one of the small astroids has a hole in it and a hollow interior. It took like 10 or so minutes to find the hole again so i could inch my way out but yeah I don't want to do that again.
The size is approximately half of the "real" ship.
looks more like 1/10th :v:
that's some nice penetration.
this reminds me, i hope we can at some point make a ship that can literally saw other ships in two without getting its own hull wrecked in the process
Attempting to make the Voyager from Star Trek. I've pretty much finished the hull, now to make it flyable and paint it. V'Ger The size is approximately half of the "real" ship.
Could use a bridge module to help flush out some features. Also I'd paint some corner blocks on the bussard collectors red and the warp plasma grilles blue. It doesn't look big enough to have even one block for the impulse engines so just ignore those.
this reminds me, i hope we can at some point make a ship that can literally saw other ships in two without getting its own hull wrecked in the process
That's probably where heavy armour blocks enter the equation. Considering how many thrusters are needed to move a fairly large ship with e.g. double-layer light hull currently, it'll almost certainly be too difficult to make a ship coated entirely in heavy armour while still being able to move faster than a paraplegic tortoise.
I really love the hull deformation in this game. Man I hope we get air locks, so big ass ships can dock on space stations without having to land on them or fly into them. That would be great.

Complete with a hallway for entering the 70 foot hole you just blew in your enemy's hull by ramming. Holy fuck its 4:30 Ill finish it tomorrow.

Well has anyone seen the episode of Voyager, "Year of Hell"? In it, Voyager rams into a much larger ship and completely crumples from the impact like a tin can being stepped on. I want some sort of 'ultra-light' armor or something that has all the impact resistance of a tomato, so that you can construct ultra weak ships just for zipping around, but when you crash them the whole ship is a crumple zone.
Updated my "gunship". [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/921278188484335879/79D1278EAF02F03EB9067392325C39FF35A18FB1/[/t] [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/921278188484338929/1410881E2F08C0AA7CDAAE2A2CD7921D4F03686C/[/t] I call it the Razorback.

Working on something to take up some space in the back and connect to the bridge. The actual connection looks a bit iffy and will probably be redone. Also there's a few missing details like lights, interior wall pieces, and so on. That wasn't CG.
28MB patch just downloaded for me.
Update 01.004.011 Fixed corrupted files during saving, inertial dampeners off, modding 3D models, red gizmo for removing, and more. Full list of changes below: Features Inertial dampeners on a ship can be turned on/off - press key 'X' (when off, ship won't auto-decelerate) Modding of 3D models is now possible - see our MODDING page and look for MwmBuilder Localizations updated CTRL, ALT and SHIFT keys are now bindable Red semi-transmarent gizmo used for showing which blocks are going to be removed is now more visible New buttons for Steam Workshop Minor improvements Fixes Fixed corrupted files during saving Steam Workshop screenshots have proper resolution and do not contain saving wheel When language is changed, HUD texts are refreshed Fixed refinery and large thrust collision models Fixed few notification texts
Just noticed. Excited.

Genetlemen, I have made another large ship, I call it: The Mammoth It's a two story cruiser, powered by two large nuclear reactors at it's back. Exterior: [t]http://puu.sh/55Hct.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/55Hqi.jpg[/t] Main reactor: [t]http://puu.sh/55Hf6.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/55HgJ.jpg[/t] Med bay: [t]http://puu.sh/55Hie.jpg[/t] Command room: Upper: [t]http://puu.sh/55Hj6.jpg[/t] Lower: [t]http://puu.sh/55Hkh.jpg[/t]
I've successfully made a ramming ship that can penetrate 7 layers of light armor without affecting the controlability/cockpit at all and it's about 1/3 the size of the starting red ship. It's also all internal. So the crew would wait inside, ram the enemy, and board directly into it through a hallway.
Oh neat, we can bring our models into the game. Does this mean workshop support soon for models? Edit: Anyone interested in like a simple outdoor console which could be used to pretend open large doors or whatnot?

We'll probably have to wait before they can be implemented as unique items rather than replacements, though.
Various console and screen models for decoration would be absolutely lovely. Well I suppose I can get a head start on the items.
Importing one of my 6k block ships to ram into my (now 34k blocks) ship is taking a rather long time. It'll totally be worth it in the end, though c:
Oh, I assumed by the modding page that we could make our own items and put them in the game. Beds, Tables, Chairs, Consoles, etc would all be great.
Doom, what are you using to import ship? I forget what page it's on.

Different angled sloped blocks, I want to see not only 45 degree angles but 37.5, 15, and a few other oddball angles
Couldn't get better pictures of the ramming as the big ship started floating away at considerable speed :v: Will try again when the big one is more complete i.e. flyable.
