Space Engineers - Say goodbye to Starmade and Blockade runner.

Solution: Add a build options menu. Add things like this and automatic block rotation and display ghosts and such to it.
I disagree, I think showing the inavlids is perfectly fine, a few times I've been making stuff and I've seen an invalid and realised how cool it looked, and went for that instead
Fair enough, but what I meant is block rotations which cannot be placed, like inverted edge-to-edge corner blocks. There is no way to actually place those blocks without hanging additional blocks out in space for them to connect to.
Wow all this stuff is super neat
too bad the game still won't launch for me. I have much sadness

I went to get a drink and forgot what thread I was reading, so I came back, and first thing I see is your post in which you express your joy in shoving handicapped people. Had to read the post above you to realize what was going on.
The game stops giving a fuck after a certain point when using the increased memory mod.

Believe me, it's the same without it
So.. does nobody else get the gyroscope-can't-stop-the-rotation-of-large-ships bug?
So.. does nobody else get the gyroscope-can't-stop-the-rotation-of-large-ships bug?
I do. Doesn't seem to be consistent between ships, and in some cases is just slow.
[editline]edit[/editline]
This is an amazingly sexy ship I want to make, but not sure how to do the slopes that're less steep than 2:1 decently. They'd even out fine in enormous scale (the sudden transition of a 1 block slope would be less noticeable), but would take weeks to build.

I've haven't had that, how many are you using? More gyros = more stopping power
Oh, about that. The block direction needs to be persistent, relative to the ship's heading (since we can't make it relative to world, it's not minecraft). Because every time when building I look somewhere else on my shit, the direction of the selected block starts to change.
The rotational direction is consistent, though. If you consider each axis to be a rotation vector, hitting the Insert, Home, and Pg Up keys will rotate the block +90° (counterclockwise) while Delete, End, and Pg Down rotate it -90° (clockwise).

Someone else has been browsing the Star Wars wiki I see. I can't for the life of me remember what class of ship this is, though.

It is a Nebula Class star destroyer. The name of the ship class was in the file name.

Many gyros.
Honestly hundreds.
And the ships can accelerate up to turn fine, but they don't seem to decelerate at the same rate, or.. at all.

I've had mutiple ships with more total rendered blocks and no fps problems
I've had mutiple ships with more total rendered blocks and no fps problems
Physics seem to be the only really intensive thing in the game (but then again, i am running the game at 1280x1024, as my monitor is small), and even then the game prefers to slow down the physics timescale or simply ignore some blocks' collisions instead. Hopefully those get less often when 64-bit is implemented, and multithreading is improved.
How come big space ships always have a bridge on top? Why not on the bottom? Get it done, be different!
It's why I like ships like the B-Wing, or the Merlin in EvE. They're way different than most designs you see in the Sci-Fi world
here's my current base:

I decided to add a bunker on top and drill through the asteroid for access, I thought it was pretty cool:

IMO there are 3 main types of spaceships:
ones that look like ships
ones that look like planes
ones that are built around functionality and look really unique
So this is the last entry in my space engineers log before it crashes

Got not idea what it is saying at all
Maybe post it on the official forums?
One quick Question:
Is it worth buying in it's current state? Or should I wait till it get's Multiplayer and stuff implemented?
One quick Question:
Is it worth buying in it's current state? Or should I wait till it get's Multiplayer and stuff implemented?
Depends how much you like building ships and smashing them into other ships. I've gotten a good few hours out of it, but that's mainly because I easily lose myself in large construction projects.
It'll definitely be worth a lot more when MP is implemented, along with survival and the other stuff.
New Patch written details.
Features
- symmetry/mirror mode
- inventory
- jetpack movement ('Z' is now 'Damping on/off' for ships and jetpack)
- max speed is 104m/s for all objects
Fixes
- memory optimizations
- fixed nVidia Optimus problems
- fixed crashes due to memory (when memory limit enabled)
- fixed crash with missing .NET library
- fixed crash in DirectX
- fixed character animations
- fixed saving/loading problems
- fixed 3rd person camera issues for ships
- fixed audio issues (including one type of black screen)
- fixed missing music sometimes after ALT+TAB
- updated localization
Detailed description:
Symmetry/mirror mode
- allows you to build symmetric structures, see tutorial how to use it
- allows you to set symmetry for each axis separately
- symmetry plane can be set in the middle of cube or between two cubes (aka odd or even)
Inventory
- inventory screen is available
- items can be moved between inventories
- you can throw out items (it has physics, reacts to gravity, can damage other objects)
- you can pick up items
- when you build a cargo container on a large ship or station, it contains random items
- each item will have specific purpose in future
Jetpack movement
- added damping On/Off ('Z' key)
- movement is now more realistic and similar to a small ship
- ship damping is now on 'Z' key too (to make it consistent)
Max speed
- jetpack, small ship and large ship has max speed 104 m/s
- you can exit moving small ship and float around
Oh man here we go
this update will save hours
Good god, I managed to build a really simple ship in like 20 seconds.
I try to follow what he says you need to do in the video but it doesnt work. right when I press esc the symmetry platform goes away.
Nvm it decided to work now.
edit: NEVERMIND, fps was my own issue. new inertia is still irritating tho.
edit: NEVERMIND, fps was my own issue. new inertia is still irritating tho.
Great to start shitting on the devs when they release an amazing update.
I personally dont find the jetpack irritating, its making it now so we no longer need the tiny fast ships to make huge ships instead we can just jetpack to parts of it.
