Small thrusters..
Actually, RCS wouldn't be a bad idea. Something even smaller than small thrusters, that could give minute amounts of thrust. It'd keep stuff from floating off into space.
Am I the only person who tries to build their thrusters into the design of their ship? I'm not sure there's any way to make up and down thrusters not look ugly without making it look like a helicopter or plane, but with my current project I've got rear and side open thruster ports.
I find that recessed thrusters or slopes built around recessed thrusters looks quite nice.
Image dump of a little salvaging mission I undertook when I came across a derelict frigate in a debris cloud. Managed to find a large container full of fat stacks and an intact light fighter to pilfer before escaping.
I could have posted like 30+ images of just creeping around the massive wreck on the search for mad loots since I gave it a really detailed interior.

Imagine if this was on a starmade scale server, and you actually just [i]stumbled across[/i] this massive ship, and salvaged it. That is i want this game to be.

One guy wrote a program that allowed him to import 3D models he made into Space Engineers. The death star was one of them. They were mostly just a solid shell though. I hope whoever makes one for real, adds a tunnels big enough for small and medium fighters to fly down to the reactor core, for a Return of the Jedi final battle moment.

was his tool released publicly? I remember seeing it but don't think it was released back then. anyway, one could import the deathstar, do the coloring and hollow it out then add onto that again later to make it more "complete"

Not that I know of.
because I mean thrusters can be pretty unsightly, but they're a hugely important feature of a ship especially considering it isn't just like starmade
ships which are just solid boxes with no openings or anything visible but armour blocks, yet can still move because they're filled with thrusters inside are pretty much silly
smaller thrusters for large ships and weak 4-5 direction RCS units for small ships would pretty much sort out most of the issues you'd get from forcing players to have exhaust ports (or external thrusters)
from what I've read they're intending that 'blocks' aren't exactly your limitation on what can be placed down - a solid armour block is one thing, but similarly something like a small thruster could be part of the internal structure, which would help small ships not have lunar-lander style rcs blocks

Hull breaches and ship damage are things of beauty in this game.
The game is currently missing a host of features (sound, weapons, multiplayer) but crashing ships into each other makes up for all this. The devs are adding features and fixes to the game weekly at this point. The latest update added symmetry tools to easily build symmetrical ships quickly.
I have nearly put in 40 hours into this game building and crashing various ships. I have gotten a lot of value out of this game already. The only mode the game has at the moment is Creative mode but is getting a survival mode in which you actually have to harvest and process resources to build ships.
I love making interiors for my ships, I built a ship that is the same dimensions as a Typ XXI but obviously a bit modernised. It looks incredible inside when you've crashed and the pressure hull is buckled or even has a breach.

oh man I'm torn between MP and survival mode.
Both kind of need each other to get the most out of this game though.

I know that with an open online sandbox conflict is going to play an important role which we can't escape, but the vast weight of game features should be dedicated to mining, industry and engineering.
Almost every ship I've seen built, mine included have been combat ships.
idk I feel that survival mode should be done before multiplayer.
I know Multiplayer would be great but for fuck sake, why did they have to include it as an option on that poll? You know EVERYONE is going to vote for it before they bother with anything else, I'd rather them add more shit to the game than Multiplayer which I honestly think will be a shit fest.
Ugh, I don't think they should waste dev time on multiplayer when they don't even have functional tools and weapons yet. People are going to get tired of crashing ships into each other eventually.

64 BIT VERSION !!!!
all the other choices will be useless without it because then it will LAG and you cant build many ships in multiplayer with like 2 gigs only

Its not a 'decide what we do next'
but more like a
'what would you like to see next'
so 64-bit is a valid option
I personally want more complex ship designs with motors/rotation and internal movement. That's just me though
