What is wrong with Mojang adding things that have been done in mods? At this point nearly everything imaginable has been done or attempted as a mod already. They don't copy mods exactly either, they make the stuff behave how they feel is right.
Mojang takes almost everything from mods. Enderchest, pistons, horses... Even the giant oak trees were originally a mod that Notch liked and put into his game.
It's hard not to, especially something basic like horses. I don't see how this is a bad thing though, they give credit where credit is due unless they actually thought of it themselves without external input.
1.6 seems such a huge disappointment, 1.5 included some very nice ideas, such as the comparator and hoppers, but what really has 1.6 introduced? Horses and Stained Clay, that's about it.
https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-14521 Look at all dat disapproval in the comments.
Why would you even do that? Minecraft is going to shit, good work Mojang!
All these ideas in this thread make me want to make a whole new game. :v: I already have a voxel engine like Minecraft that is mutliplayer and uses chunks. Just need to make it procedural and add lighting.
Sure. Make it and I'll definitely try it. Can you post a link up here if you ever make it? EDIT: Extra Suggestion: Let's also make this a corner where we can talk about features that can be added to "Minepunch"(I suck at naming things). Stuff like herbalism, etc. etc. But please, PLEASE don't let this become a huge corner of argy bargy. [editline]28th June 2013[/editline] Herbalism Suggestion: First, I think that you should be able to collect herbs from grass. Perhaps there can be a 10% chance that grass drops a random herb? Okay, aside from that, I think this should be real useful - you are able to consume ingredients to learn their effects, just like Skyrim. However, these effects are extremely weak and only last for 2~3 seconds. After that, I think herbs should be put into 3 trees, just not to overcomplicate this. By the way, this should replace the shit brewing system. I actually did some research into herbology just for this. Tree 1: Healing Rank from Strongest to Weakest: -Aloe Vera -Elderberries -Eucalyptus -Cranberries -Celery Each ingredient can be brewed together with other ones under the "health" category to create health potions of different caliber. The stronger the 2 ingredients are, the higher tier your health potion will be and the more special abilities there will be. For example, the highest tier, Tier X might have regeneration, damage resistance, disease curing, and healing. Damage Tree Rank from Strongest to Weakest: -Nightshade -Narcissus -Foxglove -Mistletoe -Buttercups Same as above. You guys think of the extra effects. Misc. Tree -Chili (Increased efficiency and run speed) -Coca Beans (Night vision and increased run speed) -Cocaine (Sudden but quick boost of everything) Please rate and comment.
Fucking skeletons with their aimbots
Stained Clay is something Minecraft should've had a long-ass time in my opinion.
That and the coal storage block too.
Minecraft 1.6 Stuff -Horses/donkey/mules -Healing potions 33% less effective -Regen potions 50% less effective -New Golden Apple with Absorption and Health Boost -Nether Chests -Hardened/Stained Clay -Tags -Hay bales -Resource Packs -Armor/Tool/Weapon Attributes -Zombies can spawn other zombies -Sounds for villagers -Carpets -Coal Blocks -No water in Deserts -New Charcoal texture -New Lapis block texture -Leads -Harder difficulty when in one spot -new command block command for spreading players around -and a new Launcher for 1.6 Almost forgot! -Health regen changes (Uses your food bar to heal your hearts)
About god damn time they added sounds for villagers. Now I can make them scream like this.
I downgraded to 1.7.3 recently because I liked this version alot. Remember the Glacier seed? Should have kept the old generation system, best fucking seed ever.
I miss the old terrain. I hope the villagers aren't too annoying, cows outside my house do my head in with their constant mooing!
I miss the times before the Biome Update, when Multiplayer still didn't have working health and it was basically perma-creative.
Mojang takes almost everything from mods. Enderchest, pistons, horses... Even the giant oak trees were originally a mod that Notch liked and put into his game.
Still wondering if they're going to make a way to force giant oak trees
I miss the times before the Biome Update, when Multiplayer still didn't have working health and it was basically perma-creative.
so then just play multiplayer creative?
so then just play multiplayer creative?
I think he means when you wouldn't take damage in multiplayer so it was basically like survival-creative, so you were invincible but you still couldn't fly and you had to gain the items yourself.
if you put like a ton of villagers in one spot, they get annoying.
if you put like a ton of villagers in one spot, they get annoying.
if you put a villager in one spot, it gets annoying.
The slime chunk system needs to either be removed or redesigned. It's excrutiatingly frustrating at the moment, where pretty much the only way to get slimeballs is by using external programs that reveal slime chunks. IMO, slimes should spawn in all chunks, but they should be somewhat rare, and only spawn under level 20. That would keep it balanced. Either that or add some sort of redstone component, or ANYTHING that tells whether or not a chunk is a slime chunk.

I liked I could use IC2 sticky resin for them.

Slimes spawn in swamps now.

Enchanting just fucked over every pvp server in my opinion and x ray as well fucks over every pvp server
For me Minecraft lost it's magic with the adventure update and they shift the focus from survival and building to reaching an endgoal. I started with beta 1.3, those were the days. It was fun, magical, I actually enjoyed myself. I made cool castles, mined it all out myself in survival. Something I don't even want to bother with now. I still remember my first world. I built this neat little home in a cliff side, had a nice mine, had a platform on the outside to get me to the hill, eventually became the hallway to my bedroom and the hill my entry way. I had a Legend of Zelda sound and texture pack. It was great. It was fun. Most of all it was memorable. I can't even play Minecraft anymore. Magic? Potions? Enchantments? What the hell. I put The Elder Scrolls down to play some Minecraft but I'm getting more of the same thing! Food bar? It took away the fun of playing in survival and building. When i do occasionally play Minecraft now it's in Creative. None of the bullshit. Just the pure bliss of building. They twisted the idea of a game about building and crafting. They took what it was supposed to be and said "nope". It's not Minecraft anymore. It's block adventure. I still remember update 1.5 when wolves were added, mainly because of the "Better than Wolves" mod. I feel that's when Minecraft started to take a downward spin.
*old person rant* I bought minecraft back in alpha and it was pretty damn good! It's shitty now! *end old person rant* Here's what I think is wrong with it: 1. Combat - I wake up in the morning, walk downstairs and find my brother on the computer, spamming the keyboard on a minecraft pvp server. As far as I can tell he's trying to hit people, block, and eat soup at the same time. I tell him to stop spamming the keyboard (spent $140 on it! Kind of want it to last a while!) and he says he's "hotkeying". 2. Hunger - dammit! Why can't I mine or build without slowly dying! 3. Moar graphics options! Not talkin bout hd textures or anything, I just like options. 4. Everything after the survival update - not to my liking. If I could go back to any version, I would go back to 1.4.7 BETA, isn't that when they added wolves? 5. Bad YouTube videos! Bad YouTube videos everywhere! 6. Lost its indie feel. They said they'd never sell minecraft in stores but I think now they're selling the Xbox version in stores.

I've been playing since alpha. Minecraft is supposed to be a game about building and creating, and they turned it into a game about clicking on monsters and players to get XP and items to kill the ender dragon. I wouldn't have minded this TOO much if the combat wasn't still complete shit. Shears- What the hell? Punching sheep to make wool fall off of them was great and traditional. Why change it? The Wither- This isn't a fighting game. It's a building game. You have to grind to fight something, which isn't fun. As a reward, you get something that helps you fight. Fantastic. Potatoes- What the fuck? Enchanting- Pisses me off. MOOSHROOMS?- The most horrible beasts ever to crawl into minecraft. They are useless. Potions- Why? Hunger Bar- This was the worst thing that could happen. This is when minecraft began to decline. Beta 1.6- Had my own server, played with my friends. All was well. Beta 1.7- Great. Made cobble texture less ugly, added pistons. Just adds another layer of creativity. Beta 1.8- I cried. I saw the future of the game I loved so much. As a result, I never updated my server from 1.7. It has stayed that way, and it's much more nostalgic, enjoyable, and relaxing than the constant PVP servers that you see today. I still like minecraft. The new blocks, everything. But I play the game for the creating, not the destroying.
Shears- What the hell? Punching sheep to make wool fall off of them was great and traditional. Why change it?
arguing that something is "great and traditional" isnt defense of it slavery was traditional and great for the economy, but you wouldnt use that to argue in its favor shears added the ability for sheep to actually feel like animals, and since they could be sheared, they could now regrow wool and shears allowed us to get leaf and vines which was even better
The Wither- This isn't a fighting game. Fantastic.
"Minecraft is a sandbox indie game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang." its a sandbox game, its about fighting and building. you dont want to fight the wither? all you have to do is not make it, its not very hard
Potatoes- What the fuck?
oh god forbid they add more food content this isnt even a proper complaint
Enchanting- Pisses me off.
great explanation
MOOSHROOMS?- The most horrible beasts ever to crawl into minecraft. They are useless.
mooshrooms are silly, but they are incredibly useful for food and leather
Potions- Why?
more content that you dont have to play with if you dont want to no one is forcing you to make potions
Hunger Bar- This was the worst thing that could happen. It has stayed that way, and it's much more nostalgic, enjoyable, and relaxing than the constant PVP servers that you see today.
this part doesnt even make sense there has always been constant PVP in MC alongside build servers arguing that something is "nostalgic therefore better" is garbage, like saying that 90s television was better to modern television simply because it was around during your childhood if it was a server between friends, you wouldnt have to worry about constant pvp because your friends wouldnt have fought this whole part is some anecdotal argument that makes no sense
Potatoes- What the fuck?
I don't see what's wrong with potatoes, it just adds more variety to the game.
MOOSHROOMS?- The most horrible beasts ever to crawl into minecraft. They are useless. Potions- Why?
Mooshrooms can be milked for mushroom soup and sheared for mushrooms, therefore they are not useless. Ninja'd.
I know that it makes no sense, and it's not a valid argument. It's just how I feel. I feel like a lot of the new content they've been adding to the game serves no purpose, even if it does. I'm not trying to prove to anyone that Minecraft is worse now, I just personally don't like it as much. By potatoes, I meant poison potatoes.
