I just want it to be tougher to survive, make all ores rarer, make night something to actually be afraid of, add/change mobs that will actually kick your ass on hard instead of just being able to run past them, maybe a mob that will tear your house down to get to you(Kind of like an ogre), that's just my opinion, I feel my 8x8x8 dirt house shouldn't protect me. Starvation should actually be a concern, farming/breeding should take a while to grow anything, then you have to resort to hunting or gathering, possibly in the night, so you don't go hungry. The End should be completely removed, it's stupid and pointless. Brewing should be replaced with herbal-ism described by people above. The Nether should really have some tough as nails mobs, and in return have some goodies you can find there, ancient artifacts, and other neat shit.
I love playing minecraft but I can never find a server where it isn't hosted by teenagers. I try and play on raiding/pvp servers but admins always teleport players to my faction home and grief it. That's really my only anger with the game. I know it targeted for a young audience but, I would still like to find a mature host.
To me minecraft just feels old. I bought and played it back in alpha with a few friends with no mods at all, pure vanilla and we still had fun. If I started another new world today, within two minutes I'd just quit out of boredom. I haven't tried a shit load of mods to play with but I bet that is the only thing that will get me to try to play again.
how does this make sense "hunger isnt survival" if anything, minecraft needs more aspects that make survival challenging, because if you want the pure bliss of building, you have creative why should MC's survival gamemode be dumbed down in any way at all?
That's not dumbing it down that's called making it playable. This isn't the film Eat Pray Love. This is Minecraft. Say it with me, M-I-N-E-C-R-A-F-T. If you're going to intrude upon my mining and crafting you better have a damn good reason to. And the hungerbar is not the way to do it.
I still remember update 1.5 when wolves were added, mainly because of the "Better than Wolves" mod. the horror
Thus far, any time anyone has brought up a complain about the hunger system, usually about how it's really annoying and not fun, you've defended it by calling it "realistic". It seems to me that you are advocating realism before fun. But then what's the point of playing a game if you don't enjoy it? The point is that the hunger system is implemented poorly at best and detracts from gameplay. Do you disagree? Also, building things in survival is arguably more rewarding than building things in creative, because you have to work to get the blocks to build stuff with. It actually takes a lot more time, effort, and thought to build what you want to build, and what you build is often a lot more useful to you than it would otherwise be in Creative, leaving you with a much more profound feeling of accomplishment when it's completed.
I don't really understand the hate for the hunger bar. Sure, it can get annoying, but all you need to do is start a wheat farm to always have bread to eat, or if you're feeling especially efficient, some cows to breed and get steak from. If you're really more interested in building than surviving, but still want the grind, play in Peaceful mode.
Fucking skeletons with their aimbots
you wanna swim away or at me? Yea, fuck you.
Hunger bar should be an option, not mandatory. This solves all our problems and I don't know why it hasn't always been like that. Current development lacks direction, momentum. Updates take weeks sometimes months just to implement community mods which are a pain to update once it does because the ones that actually add content take a week to do so. Mo'creatures, Better Than Wolves, etc... If the updates were good this wouldn't be a complaint, since you can do a lot in a month, but usually it boils down to: " added X block, fixed X bug, tweaked X system... Removed Herobrine loolollloolo" Now, this update removed all my mods, and I got to update because the servers I play on did. Is to too much to ask for a decent sized update? I don't really blame them, though. This trend started when piles of code piled on top of each other until it all fell over and broke made updating a complete mess, but its getting tiresome.
Minecraft is fine. Java is not Just make Drinkable potions stack
Minecraft is fine.
There are 341 posts that claim otherwise.
Stained Clay is something Minecraft should've had a long-ass time in my opinion.
Oh definitely, it's great that they've added it, but when it's one of the few features of a "major update", that's pretty disappointing.
Okay, i wasn't playing since Alpah, but i did play before the adventure update. I played on a friend's server, everything was fine. No lags, no useless shit. After the adventure update, everything went bad. I had more lag than ever, the combat system was complete shit and everything was flooded with the useless stuff we got in the update. After he closed the server, I started playing some normal survival servers and PVP matches again. Nothing is more annoying than people spamming trololol in chat and wearing shitty skins. Seriously, 80% of the skins i see today are emo kids with headphones and hoodies. And the worst of all - Enderman I don't really hate the mob itself, but in my opinion, Enderman is the main reason today Slenderman is associated with meme-loving teenagers. It's annoying. For short, Minecraft today became a large child-magnet. I'll be dead if they add mic support.
API API API !!! there is no good texture packs out there. Best I came across as doku. But it has no support esspecialy with ftb. World gen needs a total revamp. Model after world regen on ftb without the ugly ass fir and redwood trees Make villages more attractive. I want something awe inspiring. No little danky shacks More mobs! That are feared and more usefull Nether is still dull and boring. Put ores or some shit. More blocks for construction.
Fucking make hardcore mode actually hard! I only got back into Minecraft a few days ago after like a year without playing it but now I remember why I left it in the first place. It's not really a challenge as soon as I craft even the most basic of armours and a shitty wooden or stone sword, and hunger is pretty irrelevant as I can hold stacks of 64 cooked meat no problem. How about make it so you can't stack meats again? Also what about food being spoilt? Yeah I'll leave this stack of cooked chicken in this chest for an in-game week it'll be perfectly fine when I come back to it!
That'd piss off so many players Minecraft would be dead in moments
That new launcher is one ugly sonuvabitch.
That new launcher is one ugly sonuvabitch.
I don't really mind it but it is odd for the average consumer

Reminder: Lighting is still bugged and modding API is still not in the game. We would have had horses back two years ago if Modding API was added. At least the finally removed those ugly fucking ponds from deserts.
Meats shouldn't stack up to 64. Maybe 16, like chicken eggs. Also, fuck recent hunger update. Make healing based off of how much saturation you have(aka, if you ate a steak, you'd possibly have the best health regeneration, compared to a cookie/watermelon, which would have the slowest health regeneration).

To heal you should use potions and bandages while hunger should just slowly hurts you if it runs out, slowly being a key word, you should be able to survive a day of hunger. Stamina should also have an independent bar.
I agree, hunger shouldn't be a factor in whether you heal or not. Edit: The way villagers don't look like the players bugs me a little, I guess it's good in a way since it makes sure people don't confuse NPCs with players but I still don't like it.

The villages are half assed too, some houses half buried under gravel, holes in the ground.
the new villager sounds FUCK THAT SHIT., i enjoy playing mc in mute because of rain, now i have to worry about villagers too
its great how when you fight zombies now they randomly multiply so you're fighting one zombie and then there's like eight of them and half of them have swords and armour
World gen needs a total revamp. Model after world regen on ftb without the ugly ass fir and redwood trees
This is one of my biggest gripes with the game. It really shouldn't be difficult to have some pretty basic features put in world generation - a 'present biome' checklist, biome size, starting biome... I mean, fuck. Look at Dwarf Fortress. If DF can have rain shadow simulation, procedural cultures, and realistic geological distribution, Minecraft can have a button that stops certain biomes from appearing.
mojang needs to focus on engine improvements for modders, and stop adding gimmicky content that anyone could make in less than a week
We would have had horses back two years ago if Modding API was added.
We already had them anyway. Mo' Creatures added the ability to ride horses in version 1.6.5 - I don't even know how long ago that was, but most of the references I can find are from late 2010. I'm sure Jeb spent those two and a half intervening years ceaselessly improving DrZhark's code for official inclusion into the client, and not just fucking around with Cobalt.
At least the finally removed those ugly fucking ponds from deserts.
Yeah, why work to develop, say, the possibility of procedurally-generated oases when you can simply remove bodies of water altogether and make the terrain even more bland? Rivers dead-end after a hundred blocks 90% of the time and oceans are completely devoid of any purpose; maybe Dinnerbone can remove those next update, too.
If you're going to intrude upon my mining and crafting you better have a damn good reason to. And the hungerbar is not the way to do it.
If you want to be a fucking carebear, great - Creative mode was created explicitly for that purpose. Your clue to the other lies in the fact that it's called "Survival." Say it with me: S-U-R-V-I-V-A-L. I think we can all agree that hunger is terribly implemented (even moreso now in 1.6), but I have nothing against it conceptually. Like most everything else in the game, it has the potential to be much more complex and much more satisfying, if only they hadn't completely dropped it as soon as they got bored or needed to make a patch deadline.
1.6.5 was around May/June of 2011.
I was referring to v. 1.6.5 of Mo' Creatures, not Minecraft itself - if you can find a date for that version's release, props, but in any case it was several years ago, as was Mojang's statement that they would actively be looking to license modmakers' content. Yeah, that's worked out well. Hey, at this rate, in two more years maybe we'll have birds!
