I just don't care anymore.

I think the new generation is fucking shit you love it and so on.
Anyways I'm going out of town.
People are probably going to disagree with this, but i really like the new huge oceans.
They give the (otherwise bland and predictable) world a sense of mystery and uncertainty.
had the rest of the terrain been more unique one might've wondered what lies beyond that vast space of nothingness. A new continent?
The old generation only had reasonably sized lakes. it was mostly a clusterfuck of small ponds.
I would've liked it if we could have the old land-generation, together with large biomes and the current oceans and rivers.
It's optimistic, but hopefully a member of the dev team will find this thread, but its a million to one chance.
They did quite a while ago. But they didn't give a fuck at all. At least I don't think so.

I really do miss the beaches before the adventure update came in tho.
The beaches could be either very dull or very cool. Gravel beaches as well, why did they go?

I miss gravel beaches. Why did they get rid of those?
I miss gravel beaches. Why did they get rid of those?
Because it wasn't "realistic and unique enough" is my guess.
And then they introduced magic because5yearolds
The game is boring in general.
Allll they needed to do ages ago was make a proper mod API. Then it would have gone the way of garrysmod.
But no, they pandered to the loudest and most demanding of the community again and again.
I like to call groups like those the Loud Minority.
They always get the most attention.
i'm just annoyed that they won't add an easy way to host a server where you can play with your friends only , not huge, like 10 max people, but no, i have to port forwad my router and/or install hamachi which will stop working after a while for some reason, is it really so had to code a nice to use server where you just check what is your ip and put that in server props then give it to you're friends and you're done?
(BTW , why are there soo many people BANNED here? lol XD)

Oceans are a good starting point, but right now they're just as "bland and predictable" as everything else. Of course, coral reefs and such were immediately modded in by the community. This has been the refrain for a while now: Mojang takes months of fulltime, dedicated dev work (probable false assumptions, ahoy!) to put out a buggy, uninspiring update, and then inside of a week some guy working around a school schedule and obfuscated code releases a brilliant, fully-functional mod for it that adds a level of depth and detail that Mojang could never aspire to.
I especially like the way zombies will now arbitrarily disappear into thin air while I'm killing them, and then reappear at some later point.
Great update, Nathan. Thanks a bunch.
I wish oceans had sharks, fish, ect
Wasn't sharks/fish planned?

A hostile watermob would be sweet. Maybe sharks for oceans, capable of knocking over boats, and crocodile's for river that can outswim you but are slow on land?
Oceans in general need a lot of content.
Squids should drop calamari, fish should be entities swimming in water, sharks would actually add some fear to traversing huge bodies of water or building underwater bases, whales could be killed for blubber that could make lanterns (can be placed like torches but are as bright as glowstone (thought whales could be rare so glowstone doesn't become useless for light)).
There's a whole treasure trove of content there if they put some effort into it.

That's what Minecraft Realms is about fyi. And port forwarding is needed for all the servers...
Why the fuck golden items are shit !? I just don't get it.
Maybe it's because of its resistance and stuff, not a geology expert but that would be ridiculous to have that 'realistic' setting since the game isn't meant to be 'realistic'.
Gold is kinda rare so golden items should have a way better durability and efficiency. Set between iron and diamond.
Let's be honest. Beta 1.7.3 was the highpoint for minecraft. After that it all started going downhill. Boring world generation got added, ugly villages (Someone really needs to make a mod to override the current villages and replace them with nice ones), buggy stuff they probably don't even plan on fixing AND THOSE endless oceans(I've seriously gone over 50K blocks in one direction before hitting mainland again.)
Honestly the current biomes are so boring i'd switch them all out with ExtrabiomesXL or Biomes-O-Plenty ones.
How long has Mod API and HD texture pack support (Well that's half done.) been promised. A lot of great mods have stopped updating just because it gets annoying to update them every time there's a new update WHICH only brings more bugs and a few new items in, most of which are useless anyway.
The shitty terrain (the biggest fuck up notch ever made)
Adding all the magical adding all the RPG elements (If I wanted to play an RPG I would, not a sandbox "survival" game)such as enchantments, ender dragon, brewing, the pandering to a growing younger market and minecraft's lack of balance as it used to(somewhat) have.
My main complaint is that Minecraft simply does not have the same spirit that it had three years ago. In my book, Beta 1.7.3 was the peak of Minecraft, and after that, things steadily went downhill, as Notch and Jeb began to run dry on ideas and elected to implement the stupidest of ideas.
Back then, things were much simpler and entertaining. Servers with anything more than the simplest mods were unheard of, as the regular game was already jam-packed with amazing new features that came every new update. Journeying out into the dark was anything short of suicide, bread was the staple food of every player, and creepers legitimately gave players a heart attack. The Nether was a place of cooked pork, dangerous lava, and constantly eroding road networks. Every monster was a threat, as health didn't regenerate and food took up valuable inventory space. A single diamond was worth the risk of death, and full diamond armor was a sign of fabulous wealth beyond comprehension. Every world generated was a unique gem that acquired its own personality, with amazing new landscapes just beyond the horizon.
Nowadays, Minecraft is just not the same. Servers need huge modpacks to bring in the slightest interest, as vanilla servers are abandoned within weeks. The excitement and mystery of a new update is crushed by weekly snapshots that fail to impress. The monsters and perils of the night are rendered harmless, as health regenerates fairly quickly with stacks of melons at hand. Once plundered of its measly treasures, the Nether becomes useless, save for a faster way to travel. Diamonds become the norm rather than the exception, as Fortune enchantments quadruples the amount of materials harvested from each vein. Finally, every world created is a stale, boring plain that never satisfies the urge to explore and find new lands.
I think one of the problems from this is the fact that Notch and Jeb adds things that no one asked for. The End, the Enderdragon, and the Endermen are completely stupid ideas that have no place in Minecraft. Food like melons, chicken, beef, potatoes, and carrots are pointless on the grand scheme of things. Enchantments, potions, and beacons are just too much effort to really be useful and feel too magical to fit in the game. There is just too much fluff as a whole. Bats? Cats? Withers? Wither Skeletons? It all just points to a lack of originality.
I've played Minecraft on and on since Beta 1.4_01, and I've had a hell of a time. The Cheshirean Empire, 2b2t, the Open Trail, Goose's Faction Server...
It's all just memories now, and I think if I start playing again, it'll probably be on a regular, singleplayer world in Beta 1.7.3, where my fondest memories are.
Holy fucking shit so much fucking this. Now, if you'll excuse me, Gargamel and I have some catching up to do.
This has nothing to do with anything, but I'd just like to opine that Lydia Winters is the flawless personification of like nine different dumb-bitch memes, and you will never, ever convince me that she didn't fuck Notch to get hired.

Wasn't she that girl who got famous in the Minecraft community for her complete incompetence in playing Minecraft? That does not seem like someone you want to have in your company, joking or not.

she'd be useful for idiot-proof testing :D
I got Minecraft pretty early on and I just remember how exciting those seecret Friday updates were. I literally looked forward to Fridays purely for them, the community would all gather together (albeit it was much smaller then) and try to debunk what new items were added. Shit like that doesn't go on anymore. I could give a shit about the new carpets or the fucking hoppers. Oh they are trying to be like buildcraft, but if I wanted shit like that I'd download buildcraft.
For me Minecraft is an entirely new beast. It went from a game that I played because I loved and appreciated each update to one that is, for me exclusively community driven. I used to be able to name the item ID's of what was added in the latest update, now I honestly couldn't tell you what was added since 1.8. I feel the only thing that most players want now is the mod api, because realistically Mojang is only adding shit that there already is a mod for.
I really wish they'd be bought out by some competent company and make them rework it from the ground up. A lot of this magic shit is so dumb and complicated. Potions are whatever... you don't need them unless you're in PVP which is what probably 10% of servers feature.
yeah, ocean mobs, a way easier integration system for new features, as easy as TF2 implements new items from the community. Maybe work it in something other than Java and fix the horrible performance issues.
I haven't been able to play Minecraft comfortably for over a year because, although I upgraded my computer, it shits performance to the point where it's only really playable when I load it up in Linux.
I know a lot of us hate the whole RPG-esque enchanting system, but I enjoy that function. However, the fucking way it works is god-awful. Either make the enchantments work off your amount of EXP, have the EXP requirement reset when you hit 30, or make enchantments only available to those who can find the enchantment books.
More land-forms and machinery items need to be implemented !
More lands to explore, more blocks, and more biomes. If they implemented the sky dimension that would be great.
just let me bunker down somewhere in a desert or something with the nice terrain, i don't need to travel thousands of blocks looking for a stronghold and i don't need to kill a dragon or anything, i'd be happy with a little sand cave and a bunch of creations surrounding it. that's how i used to play, i prefer the old versions but when you go back and play an outdated version you notice a bunch of differences that you're used to in the newer ones and start to miss them.

And this is why I nerver really got to any of those strongholds (I think there is 3 per world I'm not sure) and never got to the end. It is because I am not forced to do so since it's a free going sandbox game.
Heck I'm even transforming one of those mountain dull biome into my own little paradise full of trees and everything you could think of, And I do this because I want to nor I am forced to.

You don't have to.
that's how i used to play
There is nothing in the new versions that would force a change in your playstyle.
