Vent out your dislike/anger/ worry about Minecraft right now and Minecraft in the future.

On one hand, I understand the hate for the new stuff. Potions? Who'd ever use them outside of PVP, enchanting is just an excuse to build an XP grinder. The End is nothing but a place to grind enderpearls and a "boss fight" and credits that you just skip past once you've seen them once.
On the other hand, my fondest memories of Minecraft are not from 1.7.3. They're from the 1.9 prereleases, when I got back into Minecraft to start playing with the new mechanics, like the bow drawing and hunger. I basically sat down to play for a few days and had fun with enchanting and potions, though I still dislike the End.
Brewing isn't as awful as some people seem to think it is. But that's the beauty of Minecraft. Don't like snow biomes? Don't settle near one. Don't like how complicated Minecraft is? Nothing's stopping you from not using those complicated things. It's a sandbox game, what happens is what you make of it. The only case where that might be different is multiplayer, where if you don't learn how to build an XP grinder and enchant things you'll just be left in the dust.
You don't have to.
There is nothing in the new versions that would force a change in your playstyle.

nice terrain
show me the option that takes me back to 1.7 terrain generation. that's my main issue, i could just gen a 1.7 world and play normally but then i might miss things like ravines. i also have to deal with things like food (i don't mind it much but it's still a hassle, especially when you first start) and it just doesn't feel right. i'd like to have an end objective. i never think "okay i'm gonna build a big castle" because then i think "wow it'd take a long time to get the resources no point bothering because i'll just give up on it anyway". i'd like to have something to work towards, but not something as shit as the end, something people actually want. the end is just a grind for enchants so you don't get killed supereasily in a mundane fight against a dragon (how can a fight against a dragon be so shit).
[editline]29th July 2013[/editline]
in fact now that i think about it, nobody is forcing me to use the new features, it's just the old features seem too shit to bother using alone. i guess minecraft is just completely unappealing to me now that i know everything about it (mp can still be fun i guess)
(how can a fight against a dragon be so shit).
Because the dragon in question has about all of the combat tactics of a goomba.
:eng101:
i remember reading about everyone getting excited for 1.8 with the teaser shots of the dragon and everyone expected it to be badass with red dragons roaming the overworld skies and shit but nope they made the worst possible boss fight you could imagine
i prefer the old versions but when you go back and play an outdated version you notice a bunch of differences that you're used to in the newer ones and start to miss them.
I have the exact same problem. I would rather play the old versions, but the new additions to redstone are far too useful for me to give up.
I wish Minecraft would implement more powerful mobs to balance out enchantments and horses. Not artificially powerful like the Dragon but something that would require strategy or a new tactic.

That would require a good combat system... and actual work.
"kk we promise it nextupdateguys"
Why the method for getting wither skulls is such a grind.
I mean really going back and forth in a nether fortress for multiple hours is not fun.
(also I hope nobody saw me posting the wrong thing in this topic! sorry about that.)
I haven't even been to the nether - I don't play worlds long enough to do so and I never bother in creative.

And it obviously eats a lot of Taco Bell.
I wish Minecraft had some thing where you can turn off elements of the game like sprinting, the leveling system, the existence of certain items, etc.
They should've focused their efforts into the mod API instead of adding all this useless custom mod-inspired stuff into the game. IMO the piston was the best mod-inspired update that happened.
They are working on the Mod API, by refactoring/fixing up existing code and making it easier to hook into at one point.
Building a Mod API upon the existing code would only cause problems in the long run.
Why is it taking so fucking long to start up now
The fact there aren't any songs made especially for the Nether or The End. I like the music in Minecraft, but this song (in the video) was only added to the XBOX version as an exclusive type of thing. Feels very fitting for the Nether.

There is also one made for The End, again, feels fitting for that area.

Shame they weren't added onto the PC version, but hey, I suppose mods could do the work.

About turning off elements, there used to be a mod called old days or something that had older generation of the worlds, and the ability to turn off newer features and turn o. Older features, like punch TNT to explode. He'll, they have the old early alpha walking animations where they fling their arms around!
Don't think it's updated, sadly

It also had Survival Test type mobs, made Survival much more challenging.
My main complaint is that Minecraft simply does not have the same spirit that it had three years ago. In my book, Beta 1.7.3 was the peak of Minecraft, and after that, things steadily went downhill, as Notch and Jeb began to run dry on ideas and elected to implement the stupidest of ideas.
Back then, things were much simpler and entertaining. Servers with anything more than the simplest mods were unheard of, as the regular game was already jam-packed with amazing new features that came every new update. Journeying out into the dark was anything short of suicide, bread was the staple food of every player, and creepers legitimately gave players a heart attack. The Nether was a place of cooked pork, dangerous lava, and constantly eroding road networks. Every monster was a threat, as health didn't regenerate and food took up valuable inventory space. A single diamond was worth the risk of death, and full diamond armor was a sign of fabulous wealth beyond comprehension. Every world generated was a unique gem that acquired its own personality, with amazing new landscapes just beyond the horizon.
Nowadays, Minecraft is just not the same. Servers need huge modpacks to bring in the slightest interest, as vanilla servers are abandoned within weeks. The excitement and mystery of a new update is crushed by weekly snapshots that fail to impress. The monsters and perils of the night are rendered harmless, as health regenerates fairly quickly with stacks of melons at hand. Once plundered of its measly treasures, the Nether becomes useless, save for a faster way to travel. Diamonds become the norm rather than the exception, as Fortune enchantments quadruples the amount of materials harvested from each vein. Finally, every world created is a stale, boring plain that never satisfies the urge to explore and find new lands.
I think one of the problems from this is the fact that Notch and Jeb adds things that no one asked for. The End, the Enderdragon, and the Endermen are completely stupid ideas that have no place in Minecraft. Food like melons, chicken, beef, potatoes, and carrots are pointless on the grand scheme of things. Enchantments, potions, and beacons are just too much effort to really be useful and feel too magical to fit in the game. There is just too much fluff as a whole. Bats? Cats? Withers? Wither Skeletons? It all just points to a lack of originality.
I've played Minecraft on and on since Beta 1.4_01, and I've had a hell of a time. The Cheshirean Empire, 2b2t, the Open Trail, Goose's Faction Server...
It's all just memories now, and I think if I start playing again, it'll probably be on a regular, singleplayer world in Beta 1.7.3, where my fondest memories are.
This sums up my feelings entirely. Servers like Open Trail, Ventlegille, etc. servers that built the FP minecraft community can't exist in this new environment. It's a shame too because creating and moderating servers like that used to be a ton of fun for me. Some of my fondest gaming memories ever were created on the earlier FP servers.
To be honest, i have no worries but they need to lose the new launcher.
Whats wrong with the new launcher, Its miles better than the old one?

It's more secure, has support for multiple installations and recently had all the Minecraft beta versions added with alpha/indev/infdev to come. Why do you dislike it?
I love how Mojang haven't put up a single hint of what they're working on for Minecraft since like few months. All they do is spam some fucking papercraft/minecon shit on their blog. Their twitters are filled with people I don't even recognize and guess what? Nobody even mentions any work related to minecraft.
It's like they finished the game and they're done with it.

Do you not follow Jeb and Dinnerbone on Twitter? Also, most of the time spent on Minecraft these days is probably still spent on fixing/refactoring old code.
There needs to be more biomes. Actual mountains, not 'extreme hills', that come close to the max build height. Glaciers in snow biomes composed of ice and smooth stone. Mesas and badlands.

Still waiting for Biometest to get added to the game officially. Having it play when the sun rises in my game is just ten kinds of amazing.

Whenever I hear a C418 song when I'm playing MC I immediately nostalgia back to 2011.

I turned off the music some two years ago, decided to turn it on for a while.
Brings back alpha memories.

After a while of it playing I always get depressed. The piano melody that occasionally plays seems to give off a "you're completely alone right now. This is singleplayer, there aren't any friends to have fun with" vibe.

then play multiplayer? there's like 2 or 3 servers hosted by fpers in this subforum.
