What we need to do is convince, @Jeb_ to create an account on here to respond to our comments.
Go and ask him to come here and talk on his twitter then.
I hate it when people modify my creative builds and claim "I'm making it for the better!!!" but really what they're doing is ruining it.
Dinnerbone wrote a notice to TCB one time on request per the MC Chat Thread once, so what makes you quite say that?
representin
the fact that this thread isn't really a fun read, i doubt it'll be any more fun for someone getting trash talked to read about it.
it's still a good source of suggestions for them. lots of potential improvements to the game have been said in this thread, it could help him a lot.
He'd be banned mistakenly as a gimmick account. :v:
One of the developers from Kerbal Space Program posts regularly in the KSP megathread, and he hasn't been banned. As a matter of fact, a few members bought him gold membership as a token of thanks.

Honestly the most awful thing about Minecraft is server hosts. Yes, building super intricate things is cool. No, whitelists are not cool. We have good anti-griefing tools now. You can backup your maps hourly with a script. We don't need whitelists any more. All they do is make your shitty empty server even shittier. Also, what the fuck is the point of all these 'hardcore survival' servers if they all have safezones and no pvp? I only ever die to mobs in Minecraft if I'm lagging and I forgot to put on my armor. Fighting mobs is trivial in this game, all you have to do is spam left clicks. [editline]6th April 2013[/editline] I mean seriously, 2b2t is the best minecraft server out there since it has no whitelist and people usually attempt to work together. It's only flaw (and one of its good points) is that its map is so old you need to use the nether (and an auto-walking mod) to get anywhere that isn't incredibly outdated (gravel beaches and broken biomes that don't spawn animals). [editline]6th April 2013[/editline] Basically what I'm saying is that to relive the old wonder of Alpha SMP, we need to go back to not having assloads of server mods that only restrict people. Profan's server was amazing back when it started. An update would come out and we'd map reset, and everyone would travel in either small groups or a huge train to find some cool area, then we'd all build infrastructure from there to spawn (this was long before beds, so you couldn't easily spread out far), then we'd all stripmine down a mountain or something and build a huge city. Griefers and hackers were a problem, but it wasn't horrible or anything. Turning on large biomes and maybe using a more alpha-like worldgen (maybe one that makes oceans not quite as big and makes Extreme Hills/Mountain twice as common, while making abandoned mines less common) would go a long way to making multiplayer fun. Current worldgen is mostly just water and flatish plains or unending forests. It's pretty boring.

Maybe we should just make a normal vanilla minecraft server where facepunch members can chill out and build.
Maybe we should just make a normal vanilla minecraft server where facepunch members can chill out and build.
It'll probably go down the same road as Ventlegille though.
It'll probably go down the same road as Ventlegille though.
Not if you make sure not to include awful mods like factions and antigrief. Just make a few trusted and active people ops, and then ban dudes who make the server unfun. There's nothing wrong with screwing with your friends or murdering someone you don't like. There's a lot wrong with TNTing a dude's house and every chunk for the next 10 chunks in every direction, then pouring lava around the bed carefully so he instantly dies every time he spawns. Maybe just make a totally vanilla server with a somewhat lax policy of 'dont be an utter dick'.
Too be honest, if you guys are going to make a server. it will turn into a hardcore pvp server quickly as most vanilla servers do.
then if someone is a douche, killing people, ban them, why hold back?

for everyone asking for a server, nostalgiafp is pretty much perfect
I just wanted first person multiplayer DF. I got the slowest development cycle ever, combined with the most frustrating community.
for everyone asking for a server, nostalgiafp is pretty much perfect
But I like the new content. The End is pretty boring, but there's nothing stopping me from just not bothering to find the strongholds. I just wish some server would have the balls to not have tons of rules/factions mod and shit.
I just wanted first person multiplayer DF. I got the slowest development cycle ever, combined with the most frustrating community.
Put me in the "multiplayer Dwarf Fortress" boat too. Though I also see MC as a world building game that GMod could never be thanks to it's terrain building; so tons more blocks and decorative items are exactly what I want. I'm not one who enjoys single-player creative that much, so my biggest wants either are for multi-player survival/factions/rp, or pure unrestrained creative mode building of epic landscapes and places. Also an option to turn bats off pls, tired of every single enclosed space filling with virtually un-hittable flying shriek factories.

For a while, Jeb was doing good, until he started doing the same shit Notch started doing [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] AKA fucking stupid and unfitting features
I personally found Jeb overrated pretty much the entire time, The other guy, whose name I can't remember, He's pretty cool.
dinnerbone? I didn't even realize he was a dev until everyone on facepunch started talking about him
So, the 1.6 update, there's gonna be a new launcher (supporting multiple update versions), a revamp of the difficulty system, and most likely a bunch of cool new features that haven't been mentioned yet because, let's face it, the Mojang team often hide stuff from us. And we're complaining about a feature that is quite interesting, provides a little more variety to the overworld (I've seen people complain about there only being 4 passive mobs before), and will add to the 'medieval' setting of Minecraft, and everybody's complaining? OK, admittedly I know it isn't that simple. We've been waiting a long time for features like the mod API, but... Well, has anyone tried actually asking? Not saying "GOD GUYS JUST MAKE A MOD API", actually asking on Twitter about whether a mod API is in the works, so they know that it's actually wanted? Maybe they saw Forge, thought "Well, the community's already done it", and thought that was enough. It kind of seems like the Minecraft community screams "Look at this awesome feature in this mod, you should put this in the real game!" and then when it's implemented they cry "No! There was already a mod that did this, we hate this!" Once again, this is just my opinion, and yeah, there are things I'd rather Mojang were doing, but considering we just had a major addition to the redstone system, I'm not so sure we should complain as much as we do.
The Mod API is being worked on by a separate team. Dinnerbone and Jeb are working on new features/bug fixes, as far as I know. Of course we want more animals, but I don't think most of us, here on facepunch at least, wanted a horse. And the main problem with the horse is that Mojang just recently made pigs controllable, and although not perfect they still work good. And now they're instantly replacing the pig's unique use with horses. Personally I think all animals should have or give something unique. Minecraft isn't really completely medieval themed, I don't think it really has any theme, just whatever people build. The people complaining about things being added from mods are silly. It isn't easy for Mojang to come up with completely new ideas because there's already mods for nearly everything, and it's possible they've wanted to add a certain feature for a long time but a mod created it before they could implement it.
My problem with Vanilla is that there is effectively 3 tiers of gear, wooden is used once to get to stone so it doesn't count, you get enough iron supply to eventually not need stone and then you find diamond and then wham you're done with all of the gear progression in the game. The only other progression is enchanting which is a separate system from mining and doesn't fit into the game all that well. I don't get why they decided to add Boss battles to the game, combat is the worst part.
minecraft has lost the charm it used to have back in the older versions.
Since I'm still kind of a "newbie", I still find Minecraft fun. I have played the game since Alpha but I don't play regularly. Only few times per month. Hardcore is the only way to play Minecraft properly. What I dislike in Minecraft is landscape. It's quite often too bland and not weird looking. Game needs giant mushrooms, floating islands, large dungeons and crap like that.
Remember when the minecraft megathread was actually faster than LMAO pic a lot of the time?
