While players like Leffen simply only do optimal options like up throw -> up air because they work, Mango instead tries to be creative with his combos by being more optimal at throwing people off guard. The carefree nature is a persona but he definitely tries more than most top players to have fun instead of taking it seriously, which also gets at his opponents mentally because he basically toys with even top players. (Mew2king is a bit of a mixed bag where he likes to have fun but not to the same extent as Mango does)

He plays Pichu against low level players but at top level, winning is his #1 objective.

It's not that I like the character more, honestly I couldn't care less for both. If I really wanted to go with what I want, Wonder Red is my guy. I feel like she deserves it more because she has much more history with Nintendo than Shovel Knight does. Every single game in her series has been on a Nintendo device, some of which were exclusives. Shovel Knight only has 1 game which you can get on pretty much any modern console + pc. The only thing Shovel Knight has that Shantae doesn't is an Amiibo, that's pretty much it. Even if you like Shovel Knight more, Shantae deserves it WAY more than he does by a long shot.

I'll admit that Shantae probably deserves the spot more than Shovel Knight. That said, I totally want Shovel Knight more than Shantae.

I think Quote has the best shot of the "indie three" simply due to not having the limitations of no transformations in Smash (Shantae) or a lack of Japanese presence (Shovel Knight). He even has moves that easily relate to up B specials from his own game. Cave Story is also still one of the biggest faces in indie gaming, and Quote was easily the most well-known indie character of the 00s, so I feel that it's underplayed for it's value. Shantae does have a larger presence on Nintendo systems but the Cave Story remake and bonus levels were originally Wii/3DS-exclusive.

I still think a great moveset for Quote would be switching through weapons with B, and up, left, right or down (in the air) and B would shoot the weapon in that direction, and as he does damage, upgrade chips appear that he can grab to level the weapons up with, losing them if he gets hit. He'd have the same floaty jump, as well as hovering with the machine gun if it's upgraded. If you're on the ground and use his down special, you'll equip the booster, which gives you a rocket jump but has limited fuel, and drops off once it expires or if you take damage in the air, requiring you to land to re-equip it.
