It's pretty lame that DLC characters don't have customs. Maybe when they're done releasing all the characters they'll start working on them?

Maybe because of the costumes of the Inklings. They could use Marie and Callie instead.
I honestly cant think of any other Nintendo IP outside of the Squidkids.
Chibi-Robo, maybe the characters from Codename: STEAM, Custom Robo, Elite Beat Agents, 1080° and Wave Race (though I doubt those would work here), The Excite series (bikes, trucks), Startropics, Advanced Wars, Geist, Eternal Darkness, Golden Sun, Brain Age, Rhythm Heaven, Box Boy. There's some other games they could try for like Veautiful Joe and Bravely Default too.
Maybe because of the costumes of the Inklings. They could use Marie and Callie instead.
Do people still believe that a character can't have a Mii costume equivalent Even though the game is riddled with it
I wasn't saying that at all. The inkling costumes, I hate to say, are the most accurate costumes we have in terms of bodyshape and size. It is more to stand out from the costumes.
I honestly cant think of any other Nintendo IP outside of the Squidkids.
I mean, Golden Sun, Famicom/Advance Wars, Splatoon and Rhythm Heaven are all powerful enough to warrant a rep. Granted, they should have had a rep already in the game even ignoring the potential for DLC, it's kind of ridiculous they don't when series like Wii Fit and Xenoblade do, really.

Apparently I was wrong about Xenoblade.
I think it's because both were very successful, especially Wii Fit.
In terms yes Wii Fit was popular....but not with the same crowd that plays Smash Bros.
I think it's because both were very successful, especially Wii Fit.
Xenoblade Chronicles didn't even sell a million units worldwide on the Wii and only 0.3 mil on the 3DS. Advance Wars has had double the success of Xenoblade with just it's 4 latest titles and has the merit of being a long-runner that started on the Famicom. Golden Sun is an even more extreme case, as it has even outsold Kid Icarus which got 3 reps. Splatoon is understandable due to how recent it is, but Rhythm Heaven even topples Golden Sun's numbers with over 4 million units over just 3 games, compared with Kid Icarus which has barely passed 3 million over the entire series (with most of those being for the NES title). Advance Wars being absent is only acceptable due to the latest title being from 2008 but there is no excuse for Golden Sun when it got a game in 2010, or Rhythm Heaven in general.
I can see Inkling being another 16 costume character.

Link, Captain Falcon, Samus, Fox, and Megaman (sort of) all already have full Mii costumes though. i don't think it'd be too odd to have full Inkling fighters, even if the proportions are close to the Miis after all
I really think the only reason for Shulk was to advertise the new Xenoblade. Kinda weird because Xenoblade for the Wii had very low stock in America and was exclusive to Gamestop.
I can imagine them ripping off Orcane's up b in Rivals of Aether for Inklings.
I can see it being the Super Jump. The move its self won't do any damage. But the landing will to anyone around. Normal b could be just shooting ink like Fox's Blaster. Side b could be throwing a Burst Bomb. I really can't think of a down b. Maybe something with the paint roller?
I really think the only reason for Shulk was to advertise the new Xenoblade. Kinda weird because Xenoblade for the Wii had very low stock in American and was exclusive to Gamestop.
Actually, that's a misconception. Xenoblade Chronicles actually sold the best in America and had pitiful numbers on the Wii in Japan. America almost amounts to half of XC sales on the Wii and still has the most sales on the 3DS version, but that's not saying much considering how few sales they had. I like Xenoblade but I don't feel it deserved to have a character rep (definitely a stage and music though), especially considering which series didn't make the cut, and the cheesy nature of Shulk in Smash is actually really jarring when you compare it to his no-nonsense, vengeful attitude in the game he is from.
Smash is awful at representing characters according to their source material, we all know that. Look at Little Mac. There's not a single Punch-Out game where you don't see Little Mac smiling like a doofus but Little Mac literally never smiles in Smash. For how simple he is design-wise you'd think they'd at least get that detail right.
If we do get Inklings and they don't have an Octoling alt, I'm rioting.
If we do get Inklings and they don't have an Octoling alt, I'm rioting.
If we get a playable Octoling before Splatoon you won't be the only one rioting.
It would be cool if this stays a surprise.
I'd honestly shit my pants in happiness if we got the Elite Beat Agents. It ain't happening, but it'd work out so well.
I'd shit my pants [editline]7th October 2015[/editline] period [editline]7th October 2015[/editline] please do not startle me about smash brothers
please be characters I recognize and care about please be characters I recognize and care about please be characters I recognize and care about
and then there's mega man and pac man who were designed with care and love
and kirby, meta knight, dedede, pit, palutena, ryu, duck hunt, game and watch ... the list of perfectly crafted fighters goes on people should accept that sakurai is just a man at the end of the day and doesn't know every minor detail of 30+ years of gaming
and then there's mega man and pac man who were designed with care and love
Yeah that's true. I shouldn't have implied it as if they don't do anything right. But when they miss, they miss hard.
It's bad that I'm not too up to date with newer Nintendo IPs because I gotta be frank I know nothing and care nothing about Inklings or Wonder Red Honestly the only one I care about that's new is Shovel Knight and he's not even Nintendo...
If we do get Inklings and they don't have an Octoling alt, I'm rioting.
Aha,aha, them acknowledging the potential of alt costumes.
I'm still dreaming on Phoenix Wright getting added. Yeah, yeah "too many capcom reps". As much as I also want Shovel Knight, it's not yet released in Japan, even though Little Mac was added thanks to the western audience since he wasn't popular in japan. Same with Marth and Roy in Melee.
