Advance Wars being absent is only acceptable due to the latest title being from 2005
Days of Ruin came out in 2008. :eng101: But seriously, AW char would be great for Ranged Char with Mooks or a constant Landmaster mode.
Smash is awful at representing characters according to their source material, we all know that. Look at Little Mac. There's not a single Punch-Out game where you don't see Little Mac smiling like a doofus but Little Mac literally never smiles in Smash. For how simple he is design-wise you'd think they'd at least get that detail right.
What're you talking about? Pit, Palutena, Dark Pit, Kirby, Meta Knight, and Dedede are perfectly represented from their original games. Those are the only characters in this game, right? :v:

Link makes good use of his items, and besides the robot noises Samus plays very similarly to how she does in Metroid, you can even bomb jump. (In Melee at least.)
and kirby, meta knight, dedede, pit, palutena, ryu, duck hunt, game and watch ... the list of perfectly crafted fighters goes on people should accept that sakurai is just a man at the end of the day and doesn't know every minor detail of 30+ years of gaming
i'd just think they'd get people who know the various characters to design them i love some of sakurai's designs, and he's great at his job, but if he's the reason for smash wario and little mac then he shouldn't be doing all of them
Wario in Smash is one of the weirdest representations of the character, as it doesn't even touch his mainline games, but only passingly refers to WarioWare as well.
Probably late to the party, but i think the "makes sense" character is probably going to be 9-Volt. in-universe Nintendo fan finally being able to interact with Mario and to a meta-sense, ROB and Mr Game & Watch. Nintendo was thinking of having a transformable Arwing Amiibo and G&W conveniently had the feature of switching out figures, Yarn Yoshis which went to large plushie-sized. they also had switches on the Bowser/DK Skylanders Amiibo...could just be Nintendo's ancestral toy-making roots showing through. the NES Remix games and Mario Maker riding on old memories of retro games. so why not 9-Volt? or make the Warioware reskins the default feature of Rhythm Tengoku: The Best Plus? could even call it Rhythm and Wario. rearrange the minigames/visuals around a character a stage then have purposely difficult Rhythm Heaven-themed stages in the end. recursive import RaW to Japan and call it Rhythm Tengoku: Best Plus DX. Shovel Knight and 9-Volt probably won't be bad. feels a bit more likely than K Rool, unless the rumor about David Wise working with Nintendo on an unannounced project is true. 9-Volt himself is probably one of the more neutral-popular Warioware characters other than Jimmy T or even Ashley.
9-Volt himself is probably one of the more neutral-popular Warioware characters other than Jimmy T or even Ashley.
A truly prestigious achievement right there.
Remember people getting upset that Ashley wasn't in the game? I never understood where people get these weird hopes up for like, C-Tier characters from a B-Series of a character who was a B-Tier villain in the franchise he came from.
i'm pretty sure that wario's jab, f-tilt, neutral b and bthrow come from wario world
A truly prestigious achievement right there.
No idea if sarcastic or what. i just have no idea what Ashley has going for her except for being a slightly mischievous (yet lonely) Witch that kind of gives off Tharja vibes, is it actually worldwide popularity or does Japan have a consistent popularity whereas she might be an ensemble darkhorse in the west? 9-Volt would just have more balanced appeal. My justification for 9-Volt being one of the higher tier WW characters is that he's one of the original characters. references retro nintendo, one of the only characters that references vanilla Warioware in Game & Wario. Gamer becomes a stage and was one of the only new pieces of WW material to get in the game other than Ashley's new song. it's like after the series slowed down and tried to introduce gimmicks like using the DSi's Camera, handmaking minigames or just jumping into a party game which deviated from the wellknown fastpaced random minigames Warioware is loved for a bunch of single games with premises...and pictionary. seemed like it was showing off the Gamepad more and as a result felt more detached from the first 4 (5, if counting gamecube) games.
I actually kinda want to see a 9-volt assist trophy where when he spawns he'll use a randomly selected NES character/item
Mario is pretty well represented (of course)
How is he well-represented when he never smiles despite being pretty happy-go-lucky in his games and doesn't use the cape the way he does in Super Mario World at all? Heck, FLUDD isn't even used as it is in Sunshine because it was basically an arcing stungun there rather than a pushforce like in Smash. The only parts of his moveset that aren't made up are his jab, back throw, neutral B, dash attack when holding an item and loosely up B. The main issue I have with his portrayal, however, is that he is just constantly angry since Brawl. Bowser Jr is pretty decently-represented though, I agree. I think the tongue attack and pitchfork are a bit too silly though, a floating mech not being able to float yet having wheels is absurd and the final smash makes no sense, but he's more relatable to his Mario universe incarnation than Mario, DK, Wario or Bowser ever are in Smash. Not really sure how to feel about Duck Hunt. His moveset is a nice nod to various Zapper games but it is kind of silly for the duck to be portrayed as a close friend of the dog, much less manage to carry and cling to him with dog-magnet feet.

I was trying to point out how that isn't very significant in the grand scheme of things. There are about a hundred characters with more clout than an recurring character from a tiny franchise. He isn't exactly "a character that makes a whole lot of sense for a whole lot of reasons."
Oh sure, let's make the cape a useless damage move
Actually I was referring to him being able to glide. :v:
water makes you slightly wet
Pfft, Brawl already did that. I was talking about something akin to how Squirtle's Water Gun multihits in Project M, which is far more useful than a pushback effect that deals 0 damage.
Sure some characters got treated worse than others but when was the last time you saw Peach physically hurt anyone.
Super Mario 3D World . . . . . two years ago. She's been a protagonist quite a few times now.

(In Melee at least.)
Bowser Jr isn't really greatly represented. He's still cool and fun but you know. He was introduced in Sunshine and the only thing he does related to the game is his Final Smash. His moveset fits the Koopalings more. It's kinda like Wario, who we can all agree is not the best represented character either, because they only acknowledge his more recent games in his moveset and not his roots.
also farting which I think he did in smash bros first before anything
by the way, there's maintenance tomorrow from 12:50 am to 2:00 am (9:50 to 11 for europeans)
So we know an announcement is coming in the next few weeks. I want the announcement now.
All I want is Chibi-Robo, he'd be great. He has a tether, he also fights in his games and he's got a new game coming out soon
All I want is Chibi-Robo, he'd be great. He has a tether, he also fights in his games and he's got a new game coming out soon
Chibi-Robo would be pretty cool. He's got a pretty big cult following, and that new game with him in it could inspire a Castlevania-esque moveset so people stop asking for Simon Belmont :v:
Can't wait for people to counter Chibi-Robo by saying he's too small.
There are so many options that could get in. This situation is both worse then a leak since it there is no hint to who will be announced but at the same time better because it's a surprise and we haven't gotten one in a while in Smash Bros.
