But yeah it is kinda funny how a franchise that has only two games gets three characters. I have been thinking it over for awhile. I now change my mind about Ridley. I think it would be cool to kick ass as him.

In NSMBWii and NSMBU, he does use the mech a lot, brings out explosives via it and it does have a claw and boxing gloves. It's super silly though that he nor the Koopalings can't cough up fireballs, though. Wario is straight up random nonsense with a neutral B that seems to be similar to Wario World out of sheer coincidence and the Wild Swing-Ding which honestly feels more like a coincidential nod to Mario's back throw than an actual attempt at recognizing Wario canon. Heck, they not only made the Wario Bash a standing move in Brawl, they got rid of it for something generic entirely in SSB4, making him even less akin to his games. Basically, it was first revealed for Brawl in 2005, but was in a game first with Mario Strikers Charged in 2007 due to Next Level Games being unsure of if Nintendo was going to incorporate farting into Wario's personality. Thankfully, Nintendo didn't so the only game since Brawl that has done so is Smash 4.

Give us a Prime Hunters character or something On the other hand fuck characters that already have character representation for their series, a bunch of Nintendo games still have none (Rhythm Heaven, ChibiRobo, Advance Wars, Custom Robo, Wonderful 101, Splatoon, Golden Sun, etc)

And I don't mean everyone would have a down-B counter, I mean everyone would have a counter available by pressing B while shielding (similar to executing a grab with shield and A), and characters with a down-B counter would have a proper down-B. If you give them enough space so you can avoid it, it's a free punish. As someone who plays JigglyPuff, counters are literally a godsend and have won me sets on Anthers Ladder at least twice. Counters are without a doubt a 50/50 move, if they're countering a lot, perhaps instead of attacking resort to only using grabs + 1/2 move combos follow ups on them. Then, if they counter after that follow up, you have plenty of space to punish or reposition yourself on stage.

Just as spacing poorly and whiffing a grab will get you punished near as hard, sometimes harder depending on the character. Both have risk and reward, and seeing how different a lot of grabs are, different counters would have different ranges and properties too. Counters that throw out a projectile, counters that do no damage but power you up briefly, counters that are effective command grabs, etc.

Shulk could have a "pseudocounter" that still utilizes visions of the future by basically giving him two seconds of invuln or something akin to that but then having some sort of penalty for not being hit during this that makes them vulnerable, such as knocking out the arts and weakning his attacks as he tries to "regain focus". Making counters a B+Shield move would just be dumbing down powershielding, really, so I can't really say I'd be for B+Shield being a universal counter. I wish Marth counter was Iai Counter by default.
