If Inkling wins the ballot, it's essentially a waste. Because Inkling was bound to get in regardless of the ballot.

Here's the problem with the inklings though... They wouldn't look different at all from the Mii costumes aside from the face. Every other Mii costume is sufficiently different in terms of stylism or scale, but not here. Either the devteam decides this isn't a problem, or it's enough to exclude them by itself.

I still don't think you can throw out the possibility of a character because of a costume. How they are modeled and animated can make a huge difference between the two. If a person can't till the difference between the character and a costume by the moves they are using. It's kinda their fault if they get confused. Miis are banned online anyhow. The only time you would need to worry about being confused is when you are with friends. I also heard that Miis were banned in a lot of competitive play. No need to worry about costume confusing there either.

Didn't know Inklings had high tech lasers and fire bombs... Wolf has a very high chance, Sceptile does not, as fine as having 3 fully evolved starters would be. K.Rool is surprisingly popular even if I could see Dixie Kong making it first. As for the indies... Would be quite surprised if they made it. Then again I am uncreative as fuck for rosters and still salty about Ridley and the reasoning behind his exclusion, so I may be spouting nonsense.

And it's a successful one too, if they're not in Smash 4 they'll definitely be in Smash 5.

Again, a Splatoon rep has a million more chances to get in than Shovel Knight.

Just remember that the ballot choices and the character hinted at recently are two different things- I doubt they have ballot characters ready yet, but I'm willing to guess they have another in the wings ready to join the announcement of the winners. So I expect Wolf and the nominees to show up within the next month or two.
