It is incredibly satisfying to meteor smash with Lucas' back air. Also, Mewtwo is amazing in the air.
In my opinion, Melee doesn't deserve to die. it still has enormous value. However, i am glad Smash 4 has superceded it on the entrants list, because there is simply more variety, and so much left unexplored among the 53 characters.

It only surpassed it by ~60 entrants. And despite that, I believe Melee will still be much more popular viewer-wise.
It's also worth mentioning that there is a larger cashpool for Smash 4 thanks to Nintendo (which is also similar to the reason MKX has the numbers it does compared to some of the others listed) Brawl actually killed off Melee for a year or so to the point where Melee was actually dropped, and look at how that turned out. I do wonder what Nintendo has planned for Smash 4's future partially due to this.
They've been pretty good about neutering the best characters so far. Just look at Diddy's fall from grace Huh, apparently Sheik's ranked 6th on EventHubs, under Rosalina, Roy, Yoshi, Ness, and Pikachu. Is Ness really better than Sheik? That's hard to believe
Eventhubs is a community vote type thing if I understand so it's not really reliable at all. There's no data going into it just "i think x is the best"
Or "I personally can't beat X because I main Y and it's a bad matchup, therefor X is overpowered"
If Smash 4 doesn't start getting more patches I don't know how much longer it'll continue to have more variety than Melee. Sheik is blatantly the best character in the game and once people realize that picking her is going to pretty much increase their chances of winning tenfold (like Zero does) it's gonna start getting real boring real quickly.
I thought Sheik was nerfed in the last patch and dropped a few tiers in the process. Also I'm pretty sure Zero is going to play Pikachu at Evo.
If Smash 4 doesn't start getting more patches I don't know how much longer it'll continue to have more variety than Melee.
but comp-level Melee is mostly Fox, Falco, Sheik, Jigglypuff, Marth, and Captain Falcon Smash 4 players have been rockin' with Diddy, Sheik, Rosalina, Zero Suit Samus, Jigglypuff, Pikachu, Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, Ness, Captain Falcon, Fox, Pac-Man, even Charizard, and Dedede, and now Ryu, Roy, and Lucas. the game just has more characters, which, even after the dust settles and the best characters are solidified, still allows for more variety, more mixups, and a metagame that takes much longer to resolve and sort its character lists. i just find it ends up more interesting :/
I thought Sheik was nerfed in the last patch and dropped a few tiers in the process. Also I'm pretty sure Zero is going to play Pikachu at Evo.
If I recall correctly the only thing that got nerfed on Sheik is her bair. That's one tool out of every single one of hers, which are all extremely useful, slightly less useful. She definitely has not dropped in tiers. Zero completely destroyed CEO with her. He started off with Diddy but went to Sheik in order to assure he would have an easier time.
i'm not super into 1v1 smash 4 (since some matchups are god awful to watch like rosalina vs most people) but 2v2 is hype as hell, the sheer variety of characters means people think up some super absurd tricks. mind you i haven't seen that game and watch instako bucket thing yet so i dunno if there's matchups as bad as some 1v1 matchups in doubles
i want to see how far 3v3 / 4v4 can go
I imagine the legal stage list for 4v4 and 3v3 is pretty slim considering how fucking small a lot of the stages actually are. 4v4 with team attack on a small stage might as well be a free for all
i've always been kinda curious on whether or not 2v2v2v2 could be a thing

that would be ideal. Im not expecting anything like that to come out soon tho. the big tourneys (and even a lot of locals) are pretty stingy about trying new rules and stuff.
Custom stages open up a lot of potential.
custom stages aren't playable in 8 player smash
i've always been kinda curious on whether or not 2v2v2v2 could be a thing
When there are more than 2 teams, there runs the risk of collusion. Teams ganging up on a specific pair in order to knock them out early instead. With 2 distinct teams, there's no real room for anyone to gang up on anyone because that's intended. And the only foul play that can happen is to have one particular teammate throw the game, and that's much easier to single out than whether 2 (or more) teams are collaborating to undermine a different specific team.
btw me ad my buddy are going to a smash 4 tourney later this month, may enter doubles together. I've never done smash 4 doubles outside of a handful of FG games lol. any advice? it seems a lot more difficult to focus on 3 other players. I don't wanna end up walking into my team mates attack or even worse be the cause of a friendly KO. [editline]2nd July 2015[/editline]
custom stages aren't playable in 8 player smash
so I guess legal stages would be...big battlefield.
I wonder what the reaction would be if Nintendo put Mother 3 in the Masterpiece demo collection. It'd probably be the only officially translated part of the game, too.

I managed to make some guy who was trying to make me mad rage quit. He beat my Zelda twice with Ryu and would change his name to "SO-FKN-BAD" and "U-FKN-WEEB". Then I picked charizard and beat him the third match and afterwards he changed his name to "LEL". I just made my name "FREE" and then he went: U-FKN-WEEB GOBACKTO WAPAN And then he quit. :v:

Charizard actually seems to have a weirdly positive matchup against Ryu, from what I and a bunch of other players have experienced.

Smash is a pretty weebie game to begin with.
Charizard actually seems to have a weirdly positive matchup against Ryu, from what I and a bunch of other players have experienced.
The Charizard match he had switched to Captain Falcon.
I really hate the players that do the same thing over and over again. I met a kirby that would only do YAH-EEE and dash attack...which was working, because I suck. Then there was a toon link that would use boomerang, bomb, up smash, then roll. I couldn't do anything.
Online Link is my greatest weakness.
link and samus, and duck hunt on occasion, but mostly the first two, are the characters i just sigh when I see online. they've overtaken rosalina as "least desired matchup" for me it's not really HARD to get around, its just annoying. and its not fun to do or to play against, i really don't understand the mindset behind this. I guess it wins them games against people who don't know any better, but the moment that someone figures out how to get around it, its a shit strategy.
[vid]https://fat.gfycat.com/HonoredConcreteAtlasmoth.webm[/vid] lmao that special dash cancelling is so great

I never did figure out how to get Project M working with Dolphin, it was a huge pain in the ass last I remember.
