i don't get why team attacks should ever fill the bucket, give health on absorption, or be pocketable when friendly fire is on [editline]10th July 2015[/editline] or at least, be pocketable but not add any damage to the attack, same deal for reflectors
I miss being able to throw the Screw Attack.
I miss being able to enjoy items being on.
Items in 64 and Melee were neat, even if I ended up turning them off more often than not. From Brawl on... they get obnoxious. Remember the Legendary Pokemon event in Melee? You cannot have something similar even with Master Balls on high. So yeah, Smash Balls on, because Smash Ball chasing IS fun, and calling it a day.
This is late, but my favorite move is probably Lucas' back-air. Landing that spike is so satisfying.

Can't really think of anything else that was overly extreme about Brawl's item roster, unlike Smash 4's which goes way too deep into the crazy-op territory. I'd rank the item rosters Brawl > 64 > Melee > Smash 4 overall in terms of playability and fun, although bonus points to Melee for having the best Pokeball limit by far. (Smash 4 only allows one Pokeball on screen at a time, Smash 64 and Brawl only allowed 3 and Melee allowed a whopping 12)
Beetle. Fuck that thing.
I miss being able to enjoy items being on.
But you can just turn the items you don't like off?
But you can just turn the items you don't like off?
Not like that does much if you most experience items in the 1-P modes that disregard the item switch or if items from past games that got cut aren't in the game.
Beetle. Fuck that thing.
The Drill arm, Boss galaga, and the Gust Bellow. Fuck those too.
beetle, boss galaga, and gust bellows are dumb as shit items and are only there to bring mario party levels of bullshit into the fritz
beetle, boss galaga, and gust bellows are dumb as shit items and are only there to bring mario party levels of bullshit into the fritz
Don't forget back shield
For me, house rules for items with friends over are as follows: - Items on low, only the following are enabled (with the ability to ban anything but smash balls): Beam Sword Pitfall Fire Bar Home Run Bat Freezie Ray Gun Shell Soccer Ball Star Rod Super Scope Smash Ball - Victory by item can be overridden by majority rule or by victor's lament, with no-item 1-stock match deciding instead - Anyone but previous victor can elect to ban no more than one item for the duration of the next match, after which it is reinstated if not contested again - At any time items can be completely disabled by majority rule This is, as far as I think is possible, the fairest and least bullshit-prone way to play with items. They all take some amount of skill to use, they can't one-shot without some major setup, and they can be selectively or completely disabled by request. I've had no complaints so far, aside from a little salt over the home run bat.
Dragoon singlehandedly killed items for me. Having cpus get the grab then somehow never let it go, yet I get hit with 2 consecutive jabs and my dragoon parts go flying away to otherworldly locations was just so unfun.

Except in the case of extremely safe moves (such as Vanish), it leaves both players open, and this is something they can't really do safely unless the other team is occupied or dead. I think that the best fix for this Vanish-Bucket strategy is to make Sheik's recovery interruptible like Ness's. If the Deku Nut she uses is destroyed or absorbed in some fashion, the move stops completely. Shiek already throws the deku nut in the grounded version, so in accordance with this change, using Vanish in the air would drop the Deku Nut slightly below her.

The amount of rolls and completely off-target fairs from that Fox player made me sad

villager is actually pretty fun. i like that i can actually edgeguard decently with him, his up air hitbox lingers long enough to catch air dodges so i can actually juggle, his nair is fast as hell, and his upsmash hits through platforms. also his recovery is the easiest thing in the world. [editline]11th July 2015[/editline]
i don't get why team attacks should ever fill the bucket, give health on absorption, or be pocketable when friendly fire is on [editline]10th July 2015[/editline] or at least, be pocketable but not add any damage to the attack, same deal for reflectors
i disagree i think that would remove a bunch of depth from teams. interactions like that are part of the reason teams is a cool format. the actual bucket move itself and how safe and easy it is to fill it with this particular interaction (sheik/GNW) is the issue, not the ability to fill GNW's bucket at all.
There are really cool and inventive team attack plays using projectiles and their counters and they shouldn't all be removed just to prevent the broken ones. Samurai will save us from them.
what?
All Smash Bros games except for Melee have a limitation of how many Pokeballs will actually spawn in a match at one time, with Sm4sh (presumably due to the 3DS version) only allowing a single Pokemon at a time, while 64 and Brawl only allowed three (64 will allow more pokeballs to appear, but will start removing the first Pokemon to appear as more pokeballs beyond 3 are activated. Brawl simply prevents more than three from appearing). This is why SSBM Pokeball battles are so much more chaotically fun.
i remember having matches with my sister where we'd set pokeballs only to high on saffron and there'd be pokeballs and pokemon and chansies shitting out eggs full of pokeballs
beetle, boss galaga, and gust bellows are dumb as shit items and are only there to bring mario party levels of bullshit into the fritz
I'm not sure how many people know this, but you can actually shield the wind from the gust bellows. (I.E. hold down shield, and you're stuck in place) Not that that makes the weapon any less dumb, but it can save you on many an occasion. :eng101:
Does anyone want to play non-serious matches? For Glory has exhausted me and For Fun is not fun for me. My NNID is RainyVoid.
I made a google my map really quick for anyone who's interested in sharing their area, I wouldn't share your address but rather the city you live in. Who knows maybe someone in this thread is your neighbor or something. I'm not really that big on entering tournaments solo but I'd love to get into competitive duos, I wouldn't mind teaming up with someone from facepunch who lives in my area. I thought maybe others in this thread thought similiarly so I went with this map everyone can use instead of just asking for people in the general Maryland area.

I love Lucas's animations in 4. He fights like he's desperate and is improvising most of his arsenal. He's rather well-versed in his kicks though.
I miss being able to enjoy items being on.
Turn all the shitty items off. Stuff that really fucks with the game. I don't have anything on that has a chance of misuse like the lightning bolt, timer, hammers, etc. or just some really bullshittery stuff like the Ore Club, Gust Bellows, Special Flag, or large recovery items.

It gets insane.
