Bizzarro Flame has been exposed by Kage the Warrior, the true king of evil has been revealed.
not really a salty suite more just like depressing
I can already see it, Smash 4 is just Brawl 2.0
I hope Nintendo gets the same idea. We discussed it earlier in the thread about buffs on weaker fighters instead of nerfs on stronger ones.
Didn't Sakurai say during SSB4's development something about instead of making characters weaker, they just made everybody stronger?
Didn't Sakurai say during SSB4's development something about instead of making characters weaker, they just made everybody stronger?
During development, yes. When they transitioned characters over from Brawl they made all of the characters stronger (which is complete bullshit in certain cases like Falco) Though that has nothing to do with with patches.
I might be overthinking it though. It's only because smash 4 is my favourite game in the series and I play it so often I can make these criticisms. I really don't wanna come off as a sm4shbasher as I really think the comp play in smash 4 is the most interesting and accessible as well as character diverse in the whole series, and the work done with the addition of mechanics like rage to help out larger characters is one of the best decisions made, but it always seems like the faster characters with the safest moves come out on top more often than not. I suppose this is true of every fighting game though.
Yeah, I feel like adding some shield stun would improve the game significantly, especially for the slower heavy-hitters
ok wtf was that salty suite wow that was terrible [editline]19th July 2015[/editline] so proud of our boy Chu though, a certain facebook group I'm in raised a shitton of money for him and we didn't really think he'd make it out of top 32
Here's the Kage vs. Bizzarro match for anyone who missed it. Skip to 7:00 for the actual match.
During development, yes. When they transitioned characters over from Brawl they made all of the characters stronger (which is complete bullshit in certain cases like Falco)
I'm not even really sure you can say that when almost everyone takes longer to kill than in Brawl, although of course the discrepency between the top of top and bottom of bottom is significantly smaller. I do hope though that the Sm4sh team takes balance criticism the right way and buffs everyone to Sheik/Ryu/Roy levels instead of nerfing everyone good, regardless. Sm4sh has the potential to be a great spectator sport, but there are little quirks in the engine and movesets here and there that make this appeal far less strong than it could be. If they won't listen to fans about this with balance/game-engine-change patches (comparable to the one that reverted vectoring to DI and removed DACUS) or outright disregard them, I can only hope they think otherwise with the next Smash game made.
I'm still kinda upset about the removal of DACUS because while it can be bullshit to outplay at times, it's definitely entertaining from a spectator's point of view, and would've really helped some characters with otherwise subpar approach options. Running smash attacks need to be legitimized into an actual mechanic, in my opinion.

What I really question though is how the dev team was so unaware that they not only did not know that DACUS existed in Brawl, a trick found nearly 7 years ago, but that it was ported over in the game engine to Sm4sh until wifi players or some other group complained enough about it that they caught wind and removed it. That one was right up there with Wario's grab release error which was also ported from Brawl by accident because most of Sm4sh's multiplayer code is, in fact, from Brawl with slight modifications here and there.
Running smash attacks need to be legitimized into an actual mechanic.
Slide smashes still exist even with the loss of DACUS, unless you are saying that the mechanic should be animated to have them run while charging or something along those regards. It would be nice if they went as far as DACUS, though, just for approaches and finisher spacing.
What I mean is, if you start charging a smash while running, your character will start charging it while taking a few more steps and then come to a stop. If you just hit and release during the dash they'll do it while stopping, carrying their momentum a short ways. This combined with a quick dash (just whacking left or right and letting go) would give some excellent spacing options to many characters, rather than just the ones with lower friction.
I can already see it, Smash 4 is just Brawl 2.0
Ah
DACUS is my favorite AT in any smash game

mkx ended smash melee is up now
Y'know, I haven't watched Melee in a long time. I keep forgetting they have more stocks.
hbox playing lame as hell right now. hope armada takes this, i really don't want to see hbox laming out PP. [editline]19th July 2015[/editline]
im siding with hbox on this one theres no limit on fox lasers, and theres no limit on ledge invincibility. if he really wants to win he has to abuse these tactics, its just the nature of the game. armada kinda figured it out anyway and almost pulled ahead though
How can you be blaming a Jigglypuff for playing safe against a Fox???
and so Armada won it.
and so Armada won it.
It was a huge up hill battle on FD for Jiggs, you could see it was almost impossible for Hungrybox to approach. Next up, Axe vs Leffen. Hit him with the Pika power!
leffen will laff
Bye leffen
Oh my Leffen lost. It was such a great game.
PLUP JESUS
Plup brings the pain
Holy fucking shit, Plup, nice job!
Hungrybox is standing. Shit will get real!!!
