Meta Knight was also a costume before his announcement, so this doesn't mean K. Rool is deconfirmed yet. If anything it's Sakurai acknowledging the characters popularity.

meta knight's mask pretty much is a costume, it's like 60% of metaknight's physical body/costume. he's a ball, there's not much more to him after the mask

I'm fine with that, but please don't raise your hopes up just to have them thrashed a second time for no reason. If I'm somehow wrong about K. Rool and he still gets in let it be a surprise but for now try to be reasonable and accept it for what it is. Hell be thrilled that the costume is somehow the most faithful thing you've got to K.Rool in ages. The costume has the golden stomach, the right tail, and his eyes is ultra fucked up instead of super toned down.

The people voting for Kirby characters are vying for Knuckle Joe, Rick the Hamster, Dark Matter, Bandana Dee and Adeliene, with the rare Gooey supporter from sporadic time-to-time. Among those, Bandana Dee is by far the most-requested, especially since he was one of the four playable protagonists of Kirby's Return to Dreamland. (with Kirby, Meta-Knight and King DeDeDe of course being the others and already in Smash)

If we get a new Kirby rep it'll probably be Bandana Dee.

Marx outside of smash though as I said has a weirdly large fanbase though in the Kirby circle due to Super Star being a lot of peoples favorite game. Denying that is just kinda silly to me.

I just hope they reveal the Smash Ballot votes entirely instead of just coming out with characters from the vote. They can easily lie about it and get away with it if they just go "Hey guys the votes are in, and here are the characters."

And hell they could even tease us and say something like "We're sorry that a lot of these characters didn't make the cut, but these votes won't be wasted we promise you that."
