Bit out there but is it me or are the textures used in the new 64 stages really clean? I really don't know how to describe it but the stages look a lot prettier and vibrant then I remember. I don't get that feeling with Dreamland.
Just finished playing a bunch of dittos with a nice Lucina player. I was feeling a little down all day today, but it cheered me up a bit.
They remake the textures, they're not straight ports. But the textures are as close to the original as possible. So it's a very particular kind of remaking it exactly as you remember. They're not lazy ports at the very least.
I have been fucking destroying as Ganondorf, he's such a fuckin "i'm not taking any of your bullshit fuckface" character
i love smash but BOY HOWDY i sure wish sakurai gave a shit about the competitive scene, considering that's the vast majority of his playerbase like he doesn't have to immerse himself in it completely but jfc he should at least take it into consideration i don't even play smash competitively! it just really frustrates me that he seems to be neglecting his biggest audience, seemingly out of spite [editline]1st August 2015[/editline] tho i guess that's not saying anything that hasn't already been said before, i'm just kinda venting
Thing is I think he does try to cater to the comp scene somewhat, I just don't think he knows how.
You guys ever see someone play on an arcade stick? https://twitter.com/Ag0at/status/627352791602831360/photo/1 My friend had one made and it's really fun to watch people react to it. We're working on a video for it and it should be up by tomorrow night.
Hey. I'm convinced if you can play this game with a Wiimote + Nunchuk, you can play with anything.

Samus is my favorite joke character.
The only thing I noticed happening in game before that video was the dash attack whiffs, but it's really depressing to see just how broken Samus is.
Maybe when Sakurai said Samus was the best, he meant ZSS? It'd make a whole lot more sense, Samus sucks in every game but Melee. :v:

Maybe they had the chance to export those textures and change up some things where as with Peach's Castle and Hyrule Temple they had to do everything from scratch.
dataminers confirm that invincibility on both spotdodges and rolls has been reduced by one frame this is super good
I think it might have something to do with how Dreamland was already a stage in Melee too.
Nah, the 64 stages were basically straight ports in Melee, whereas there are noticeable differences in the 64/Melee textures and the SSB4 textures. Dreamland definitely has cleaner textures, the most obvious are in the leaves and the stars-in-the-leaves; for example, the seam in the leaf texture is no longer present and the stars are a much higher resolution. What is confusing though is why they'd bother to remake the base mesh, textures, background and mechanics so on point, yet not bother to retain the original death boundary positions nor revamp the stages ala PM, especially since they are paid DLC and stages like Yoshi's Island (Melee) and Temple (Melee) got touched up in the base game.

Like, seriously, that's kind of ridiculous to think.
dataminers confirm that invincibility on both spotdodges and rolls has been reduced by one frame this is super good
i really want to see more shield stun in a future update as well, but i doubt sakurai will do it
...Don't kid yourself. Like, seriously, that's kind of ridiculous to think.
Yeah, even as a competitively-inclined player, there is no way it's the majority. Smash's scene is nowhere near as large as it actually seems (although SSBMelee also has lasted far longer than average for a fighter, mostly because the players for it are waiting for a game that plays like it but better to replace it, already) because the viewership amount is almost disproportionate to the amount of tournament players when compared to other fighters. However, casual players do tend to have tendencies toward what competitive players desire (all characters being good, items/stages being unintrusive or at least fair [i.e. people would enjoy WarioWare casually more if it didn't do BS like give bonuses when items are off or give invuln as an option and then basically screw over another person with gigantism vs the invuln player by sheer luck], exciting gameplay, etc) However, if he's going to make something to cater toward competitive play like tournament mode, it should at least cater toward competitive play. [editline]1st August 2015[/editline]

They forgot up smash.
However, if he's going to make something to cater toward competitive play like tournament mode, it should at least cater toward competitive play.
I've had similar talks like this in regards to Halo, but making a game tight and competitive does not hurt casual play. With Smash, you turn on items and add some players and you have a hilarious chaotic match. Turn off items and get picky with stages and you have tournament play. There's a lot more overlap than you might think with Smash, casual players show up to events and make up most of the pools. (At least in Florida.)
They forgot up smash.
As of the last patch it properly links now.
As of the last patch it properly links now.
Does it? I could have sworn it still pops them away from the kill hitbox at kill percentages.
As a Mario main I picked up Fox last night for the first time. Turns out I've been missing a lot. But I do miss that Fireball. Stuffs just about anything at medium range.
God damn mewtwo is hard to play as
And even then she's only -okay-
I'd call her a little more than okay. She's not top tier, but surely if she's one of the characters in top 8 at EVO she's more than just okay.
I thought it was pretty much agreed she is top tier? Not like S++ Sheik or anything but still way up there.
Samus definitely isn't top tier in Melee. If she was she'd be getting a lot more picks. She has the tools but not everyone wants to utilize them when they can just play Fox or Falco lol
i mean samus is definitely good in PM she gets a lot of love too with all the extra costumes [editline]1st August 2015[/editline] giv ice mode in smash 4 please
Oh, I was talking about ZSS also lol, never saw this before [t]http://oi62.tinypic.com/15ck2gx.jpg[/t]
