Why would Melee affect his hands, but Smash 4 is fine?
Is it purely because of the speed of Melee or is it something more?
the APM required for Melee is wayyyyyyy higher than Smash 4 ever manages
Out of all Smash games, Melee is the most likely to give you carpal tunnel.

This must be why Sakurai is making the game less technical
He knows the feeling of horrible hand pain and does not want anyone else to experience it :frown:
Man, if I could make Pac-Man's Park play whenever I'm playing Pac-Man that would be the best thing.
I swear to god that song is composed of pure hype.

I feel the same about quick man's stage theme when I'm playing mega man
[editline]2nd August 2015[/editline]
air man's theme moreso
I can understand Melee being too tough on his hands and no one caring about Brawl. But his main reason for not playing 4 is kinda pbth.
Play through the nerfs. People still play/main Diddy after that long list of damage and knockback reductions, right?
Yeah, one might have to change things up a bit, but a nerf doesn't completely kill how that character is played.
I don't know a lot about Mew2King, so probably wrong but from what I saw unless he's doing super casual stuff he comes off as a guy who's upset if his character isn't the absolute best.
Though I kinda agree, if this is his "job" then it shouldn't matter if it's fun or not, it's work.

I have a somewhat unfortunate problem where if I switch to Pac-Man after a series of matches with one person, my opponents seem to assume I'm picking him as a joke character and immediately switch from their main to a character they're clearly not playing very seriously or isn't the main they've been using up until that point. That might sound paranoid but I never get that reaction when I switch to any other character.
Pac-Man is serious business, dammit. This sounds incredibly silly but I see it so often that I can't think of any other conclusion. Which bothers me a bit because I quite like Pac-Man. He's very good for mixing things up.

The guy plays Pichu in tournaments to make it more fair on his opponent, he's not like that. It's the fact that there's constant changes he doesn't like. He learns the minute details of the game and when they're always changing he has no ground to stand on.
That's the nature of any competitive game other than Melee though.
Competitive games now aren't set in stone like they were back in the Melee days, the constant relearning process is just a part of being a pro gamer now. If mew2king can't adapt to that, then I don't know what to say.
wow i saved some ridiculous replay the other day that made me fly off the couch from laughing so much and wanted to show it to some friends
then the game updated and i find out that my old replays got disabled that is so silly what is even the point of saving replays if they break with new updates

that's why we have the upload to yt feature but it's kinda shit

how meta knight felt after his nerfs from brawl
also I hate how the upload to yt feature was advertised like "hey you can upload your old replays" but I really don't think that's the case

it's not even the Smash 4 nerfs that tick me off. Fox got one, MINOR nerf in Project M last patch (note that he's still top of the top tiers in that game), and M2K went on a huge tirade on reddit and facebook talking about how the game was ruined in his eyes, and he was never going to support it in tournaments again.
The Project M devs could all have a go at shitting in my eyes, the mod is just too good to throw away.
Regular Tournament mode is awful if you're a jigglypuff player. Trying to kill people twice in 3 minutes reliably is hard as all heck, and the best way to win is just gain a % lead and camp (e.g. Postal) until the timer runs out.
Why did they think this was a good idea

there's still hope... right?

To be fair, most of the issues Samus has come from faulty hitboxes. If the dissonance was remedied somewhat, I believe she'd be one of the better fighters in the game.
What's wrong with his hands anyway? I always heard about it but nothing other than "they were sore" and literally every time he shows up "He was sick so he played bad"
One of the darker issues with Melee is that there is a price for the quick inputs. They not only tear up controllers but your hands as well. Quite a few professional Melee players have ruined their hands after 6-8 years of top level play (most notably Hax, but it's related to why so many early Fox and Falco players no longer can play at top level), and Meta-Knight seems to be joining them.
Edit: Also why doesn't he just play Sheik like everyone else? I understood he didn't want to lose his melee muscle memory but if he physically cannot handle melee anymore I don't see why not.
Mew2King is and always has been a tier whore. He plays only the best characters because they are the best and not because he likes them. (i.e. he mained Meta-Knight in Brawl even though he thought he was stupid-broken) To give you an idea of what level he is when it comes to this, he was going to main Sonic in the 3DS version because Sonic was at first considered the best in the game (for a short while, due to the input limitations of the 3DS).
He mains Fox and Sheik for the same reason in Melee.

To give an idea of how absurd this rant was, the nerfs were just the following:
Shinespikes require your opponent to have a decent (30%ish) amount of damage to be gimped by it.
up B, if done downwards to crash into the stage (with the little bounce at the end), now gives enough end lag that you can't just do what is called by the community a "Sakurai combo" (upB into the stage and then kill with up smash or up air due to the hitstun lasting longer than the crash animation for Fox, which was almost non-existant). This is something that is not used by Foxes intentionally in Melee anyway and is considered one of the jankiest things about his toolkit in that game to begin with.
samus is not as terrible as people say, esam still managed to jv2 larry's luigi at ceo with her. this does mean something.
you definitively have to put a lot of work in her tho.
frankly i'm just sticking with her because no one else is as fun to use in Smash 4 for me
I want more musical representation in Smash. Elite Beat Agents or Rhythm Heaven.
Big Band as guest character pls

I'm super disappointed no Mega Man X music got in Smash 4. Central Highway would've been great on the Wily stage.
