If all you care about is winning or losing, you are not a good player of any game or sport. You are just after results. That raw and selfish pragmatism is better off in stuff that really matters, not in entertainment.
What? that's exactly all you must care about if you are a sports player like ZeRo, you live from results, entertaining is something you only do if you can.

Sure, but does that mean watching someone dance around an opponent after hitting them once and winning because they ran out the timer is actually entertaining? No it isn't.
He's different now, but that moment he won the first Invitational by cheesing like he did almost ruined any sort of good impression I had on him.
From a developer’s point of view, I suppose it’s better not to force users to play these extra features in order to beat a game. Making users play a bunch of minigames only invites unwanted criticism, and I think that makes sense.
I'd love if he used that mindset when designing the custom moves system in place. As a player, in order to fully acquire the multiplayer experience you need to put yourself through grinding either the single-player modes or Smash Run/Tour. Both of which are leagues different from the multiplayer that people are seeking out.
That's like trying to teach a kid how to hit a baseball but you make him go through bookkeeping before teaching him how to aim where the ball goes. It makes no sense.
Extra content is fine when it's extra content and not an unlock requirement.
I'm good friends with Peachyhime, who was one of the E3 attendees for Sm4sh, and she was updating me as the day went on and in their hotel room. Apparently HBox was pretty salty about being timed out.

Hopefully commentators/spectators will pick up on this information and not ridicule players for failing to execute literally impossible techs anymore.
Also I hope it gets patched out.

I wish I understood half the stuff this guy is saying. I guess I know way less about this game than I thought.

I could understand you saying that for the international, but on normal tournaments ZeRo is not there to entertain you, he's there to get money.

how bout when he played falcon at APEX against m2k because the crowd wanted it, or when he picked diddy against Mr. R at EVO just cause he didn't want the crowd to have to watch another sheik ditto
Tournaments are profitable because they are fun to watch. If they stop being fun to watch they will have a harder time getting prize money and sponsors together, so poor showmanship DOES negatively impact the scene, albeit in a roundabout way.
I've been drinking the last hour or so and usually I play FG when I do this but I'm gonna save myself the pain and ask if anyone here is up to play.
I am if you're willing to add me.

Ha, that's alright. I had no idea the other dude was Postal. I had fun. Much better than playing For Glory all night. Also sorry about that one match with Master Balls, I forgot to turn items off. Still fucking hilarious to see Genesect unleash that laser that killed Postal. Also I noticed we mostly got the stages I chose for some reason.

You understand that participating in these competitions requires players to pay in right? The winnings come from the prize pool. They stand to lose money if they can't perform well enough to get some kind of prize. They have absolutely no obligation to give a fuck about what the audience wants. Even if people stop watching, they're not going to stop playing. That's where most of the money actually comes from. But even then, if it's possible to get results by playing in a way that isn't "fun to watch," you should consider that a flaw of the game, because it's an aspect of the game that players are just as free to utilize as any other.

i don't like this idea that people should sacrifice playing optimally to make the game look better than it is. good competitive games are ones that are fun to watch when the competitors are actually playing to win. the invitational had a shit format where time stalling was an effective strategy, 4 stock with sudden death. don't blame zero for playing properly, blame the shitty ruleset. zero doesn't play lame in smash4 anymore because he doesn't have to.

Sorry about that, I didn't notice you weren't playing until after I knocked you off. Can't believe I landed WFT's down smash at the end, it won me the match.
Does anyone else feel like the damage values on Bowser Jr's Bthrow and Dthrow are backwards?
Bthrow does 12% but has less launch power than Dthrow, which only does 7%. Dthrow can't combo and neither one can kill, so they're both basically worthless.
They should bring Big Blue back as DLC, and its main theme should be the remix from Mario Kart 8. Its old music is on Port Town, so that's not an option.
They never said they wouldn't share music with other stages, or change musics on the older ones. It's not like it's forbidden.
besides sakurai does whatever the fuck he wants
Wii U Smash Con finals are happening:

Walked right by ZeRo in the bathroom at smash con. :pwn: So used to seeing all of these players on a screen, it's weird seeing them in person.
I only saw the first part of top 32 Smash 64 but like
Fuck that game is good
Incredibly high competitive standard and impressive shit happening every game

Makes me all the more confused why my favorite Smash is usually dead, competitively. People love playing it, people love watching it, it's available to play on the N64 and can be digitally obtained on the Wii where they gave it a special input configuration to make it easily adapted to by Melee and Brawl players using GC controllers. I just don't get it, really.
Less characters/moves, more primitive graphics, only a single stage (I think? I only see dreamland in the few matches I saw) and the fact "melee is da bess" probably has something to do with it.

Just a guess though
Please tell you didn't miss top 4 for SmashCon. ZeRo vs. ESAM (Winners Finals) was probably the best Smash4 set ever.
What characters did they play?
