That might actually be better (aka cooler looking; it may or may not be terrible gameplay wise) than the Side B we have in Smash 4.
it's way better. the dthrow is just an optional use, as you can also throw the person grabbed backwards or forward (on the ground at least i'm unsure of what the options are in the air). it doesn't kill bowser from using it, and it can also be used on the stage to set up for tech chases

Actually, by terrible gameplay-wise, I meant that it may or may not get annoying for the player fighting Bowser.
The PMDT fucking loves Bowser
considering how many people regarded bowser as being hot garbage in 3.6b i'm really excited to see how this and the other buffs he got change public opinion and tourney use.
in between his buffed ftilt and that move i basically NEED to sweetspot the ledge now or i'm fucked

ah. either way, anything's better than 3.5 bowser with his extremely weird, arbitrary armor mechanic
The way Bowser's side B works now is that the Koopa Klaw now has three throws instead of two. He keeps the forward headbutt and backswing throws from before, but now gets a third throw that changes depending on if it is done in the air or not.
In the air, it's a spike where he punches the opponent downward. On the ground, he slams them down instead, which works as a techable meteor instead of a spike like the aerial version.

wait what you can't tech the aerial dthrow?
SHIT now i'm worried

Er not what I meant. I meant that it was a meteor unlike the aerial version which is a spike. It being a grounded meteor allows it to be techable on hitting the ground in the animation (not the ideal example but think of Fox's/Falco's down throw), whereas if you're both in the air, you can still tech the landing from the spike.
I just met the most suicidal Sonic in Tourney mode.
Okay then.
It honestly feels pretty consistent with other dark stages in Brawl to me (although I think a few more lights would be nice) :

Brawl was the least colorful game in the series, to begin with.
It was just as colorful as Melee. Melee just used stages like Mushroom Kingdom that compelled it to be colorful, like Delfino Plaza did for Brawl. Smash 4 brought it back to the colorful routes that Smash 64 enjoyed.

Counter spammers are a pain in the ass.
This one time in FG I ran into a Marth who hit down-b more than any other attack, so I was like 'fuck it' and just grabbed him all game, intentionally not attacking him.
Long story short, it went in to sudden death, he dash attacked, I shielded it, and ended up winning by only grabbing him :v:
how do you set your custom thumbnail for your vids
It says I disconnected from the last match I have no idea what the game's problem is.

True fact: Zelda has a 10 - 0 matchup against players who don't shield.
True fact: Zelda has a 10 - 0 matchup against players who don't shield.
And Charizard has at least an 8-2 against players who shield excessively
My record for shield breaks in a single match is 7, against a particularly stubborn Donkey Kong
As good as this sounds, I can't bring myself to associate this song to Wario because of the instrument choice.
I associate it more with Shadow Mario
It was just as colorful as Melee
The Brawl Pikachu picture looks a million times more colorful and that's probably because of the lighting + map. If you're going to make comparisons you should at least try to use similar or the same maps.

Not my images, and Brawl Pikachu is definitely more washed out; his fur his paler overall and has less contrast.
I know they're not yours. I'm referring to whoever made them. :v:

this really doesn't say anything because it could support either argument
full size images of each stage and character redesign would be more concrete evidence, though also massive

Here is a comparison of Melee, Brawl and Wii U Pikachu's CSS portraits/site poses:

Brawl intentionally washed out most palettes because of the "Real is Brown" fad that was going on due to the technical limitations of the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii when it came to processing shading and reflections and it's pretty jarring for a cartoonish series.
who cares if the image isn't 100% accurate
you're lying to yourself if you don't think that brawl's palettes were severly toned down from melee for a more realistic approach to the game
Yeah I never disagreed. Just saying the picture isn't a good way to show that fact. The Pikachu renders are perfect though
If you take the raw skins from both games and color sample them side by side, the Brawl variants have objectively lower color saturation, with many having lower overall contrast as well (like Link)
In fact, Brawl's texturework in general (and the stage lighting as well) seems to have a slight greenish-yellow hue shift throughout. This is most pronounced on characters with a lot of yellow, like Pikachu and Wario. This was likely an attempt to emulate the appearance of sunlight (yellow primary cast combined with blue atmospheric diffuse), but the cast was pushed too far towards green, and as a result it looks very unnatural, almost like fluorescent light.
I hope they never change Smash 4's style in the future.

It sounds like something out of one of those Pac Man championship games instead of anything in the Mario series.

You know what I wouldn't mind? If they went with a pseudo-2D style like Guilty Gear Xrd Sign

It looks REALLY neat when done well. Look up some gameplay for a better idea.
Interview with Sakurai where he is asked why Wolf got into Brawl but not Krystal
http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/08/17/sakuraibrawlquestions/#more-1959
Question: Why did Wolf become a playable fighter, and not Krystal?
Sakurai: Wolf was a character that barely made it in due to time constraints. He was added because there was high demand for his inclusion on places like “Smash Bros. Dojo!!”, and he’s a popular character. Of course, if he didn’t have that backing him, I don’t think I could have put him in. Among the characters with high popularity, I chose one who had a high possibility of becoming realized in the game, and as a result you could say Wolf was created.

Host: Does that mean even if you wanted to add more female characters, Krystal didn’t have a realistic chance of being physically implemented into the game?
Sakurai: For Krystal, we didn’t have any of the technical modeling knowledge that we had cultivated with Fox and Falco, so it was like making a brand-new character from scratch. And because of the limited amount of time we had, creating Krystal wasn’t realistically possible. On that point, with Wolf we already have some knowledge of how to model his character, and would require about 70% of the effort required to create a whole new character.
Host: I see. But we did get a lot of questions like, “Why wasn’t Krystal a playable character?”
Sakurai: It’s not that I don’t understand how that feels, but if you start saying that, it becomes “Why isn’t Waddle Dee playable?” or Dry Bones, or Baby Peach. There’d be no end to it.
Host: Well, that is true (laughs).
Sakurai: In the end, the three playable characters in this game from “Star Fox” are Fox and Falco, and on top of that, Wolf, because he was popular and easy to create. On the other hand, if it was a situation where it wasn’t easy to create this character, and we had to make him from scratch, “Star Fox” may not have had 3 representatives. So, please think of Wolf as a lucky inclusion.
waddle dee no ;~;
