I can't handle the amount of spam in this workshop... It's unbelievable.
ok, so do creators of accepted items get anything? A self made? I had an idea for a skin, is this able to be done with Paint.net or is Photoshop a necessity?

Also you can make it whit Paintdotnet it might be a bit harder depending on what you want to create.

Hey fellas. I'm new here, but I thought I'd post my skins. Rate them up please :) Not sure what the next weapon in the series should be. Thinking about the SCAR or one of the M4's. Just thought I'd mention the green screen technique I use in photoshop. Select -> Color Range -> pick 0 255 0, fuzziness to max. Then go to Select -> Modify -> Expand -> 1 pixel Press Delete. Done. There might be some small dark green pixels left, but just redo the same process while picking that dark green color and setting the fuzziness to a smaller number. Remember to grab as large of an image as possible of the gun (maximize the workbench window), to minimize damage to your model. If you do this right, you should have a clean image. You could also use the feature called extract (a filter) that's only in the pro version of CS5 if memory serves me right (it was in the regular version in CS4 and CS3, but the bastards saw a way to earn some money I guess...).
does anyone know where the current skin models are located? i can't find them anywhere in the model viewer, 'cause they're not skins on the viewmodel models..
I do the same thing, but instead of deleting the green, I just apply the selection to a mask on the layer, that way you can later refine the mask, without the loss of pixels.
Well you will lose pixels either way, since the darker greens are actually bleeds of on the models, and not really part of the background. But your method will remove only the bleeding where it needs to be removed, while mine removes 1 pixel all around the model, so thanks for the tip, never thought about doing that before :) [editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
does anyone know where the current skin models are located? i can't find them anywhere in the model viewer, 'cause they're not skins on the viewmodel models..
Are you talking about the models or about the original skin? http://cdn-01-origin.steampowered.com/apps/csgo/workshop/workbench_materials.zip There you have the models. The skins you will have to use GCF-scape for and go to materials/weapons/v_models/<your weapon name> and extract it.
I was thinking to apply something like this onto the AWP. Except main color will be blue, and there will be 3 more of the flowers coming out from near the gun trigger. Nevermind find the exact thing to apply to. Now i gotta learn how to do this properly.

Also, photoshop as real nice "refine mask" tool that lets you push and pull the edges of the mask, as well as do other things like feather and soft edges. Also, I think LilRobot is looking for the model of the current skin in the workshop editor. In that case, im pretty sure that that doesn't exist in any file directory as a compiled mdl, I'm fairly certain that the csgo skins are dynamically generated over the original gun MDLs as dictated by a text file. With that being said, I don't think its possible to view the new skins in the current model viewer.
Ah, yes. The wear is generated and stored in a binary file that re-creates the uv map on game load. So I don't think you can get to it.

Holy shit, the UV map for the SSG 553 is a nightmare to skin.

And not on pure servers. Here's 1 way of doing it (step 6 and forward): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ilo71m-2JqR9Zl8cSn7SntfujChu7mN7kxSXtRohX1Q/edit
