Found out about a way to make the wear effect neat. Look into spray painting if you're interested. Also wanted to see if giant glowing text helped get attention in the workshop.

You can pretty much replicate the steps in GIMP I presume.
In gimp, its all wireframe.
what would cause a pattern to work in the TGA in photoshop, appear in the workbench's pattern view but not in the UV or weapon model?

Of course it's possible, you just need to convert your image to vtf somehow, and I found this nice plugin for GIMP that lets you export directly to .vtf:
