The game abandons a story. It's super arcady in the sense like the intro is, "Hey, there are these 10 drivers. Race them and then crash their car to get their ride. Neat, now go do it."
The game strips out the story element and as such is just pure driving. The cutscenes for the other type of races/missions aren't as weird but equally random.

Like, I recently realized why I was installing countless skyrim mods and still not getting any enjoyment out of actually playing the game. It was because I was missing what made the game just unpleasant to play; the criminally low FOV and the fact that any enb outside turned the game into a laggy, blurry, bloomy mess
I mean in isolation the low FOV, low FPS and filter rape aren't too much of a problem but combined they just make the game annoying as fuck to play.
