Had my computer-expert friend over and we gave the GPU some more voltage and then we played FC3:Blood Dragon and AC3 for a while with no problems.
Although the glitching Assassin's Creed 3 looked pretty rad.

I haven't played a lot of Napoleon actually. I suppose it's more refined than Empire but I like playing as my own country (Sweden).

E:TW is on a far grander scale with both America and India as well as Europe and is generally more satisfying over a long period. Darthmod E:TW is massive amounts of fun.
N:TW is more visually satisfying, and thats about it. The AI is pretty terrible both for units (though little better than E:TW) and the opponent AI (pulling a 90 degree turn and marching on every unit is a totally inconspicuous flanking move, idiot) , the campaign is lackluster compared to E:TW both in terms of keeping your interest and in scale and there are numerous weird bugs.
Yeah, definitely can't go wrong with Darthmod and Empire TW. Aside from the god damn dumb main menu splash screen, top notch mod
