You can play it for free, you just have to buy gametime (1 PLEX = 1 month) with ingame curency (ISK).

Yeah, a friend of mine introduced me to the game a year ago and sponsored me for a month's worth of play. I didn't get very far, though, and now I don't have enough time to get properly invested in it.
Also, how much time does an average player have to play to get enough ISK to play for another month ?

It depends heavily on what skills you have, and how many ISK you already have invested in making money. I could probably make the ~550 million ISK for a month of game time in 3-4 hours, but my character has 38 million skillpoints (over a year worth of training) and I have a solid way of making money in nullsec.
Too bad that I still don't have time to grind that much to pay for it monthly. I'm so busy with uni right now that my time is more valuable than the subscription fee.

I come bearing gifts; I managed to fully record a run of Penumbra, although the recordings are in 360p, skip in places and are just crap in general.
I was going to encode them to SDA standards in an attempt to make a submission but I just cannot be assed to wait 20 minutes for one segment of 17 to finish encoding for that. So I just zipped 'em all up for you guys and included a VLC playlist.

Playing some Arma 2 with the invasion 44 mod which overhauls the game to a WW2 setting on the European west front. The mod is great fun but it definately has some rough edges. I added some Spielberg color correction on the video since it turned out [I]really [/I]desaturated at first.

For those who do not know, these are units I have made or re-added for the Rome: Total War mod [URL="http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?199-End-of-Days-(BI)"]End of Days[/URL] from an alternate history where the Christian European Kingdoms, the Nation of Islam, The Buddhists of Shambala (Tibet) and, with the expansion submod, the Qin Empire (China), Kudash Empire (India), and the Akagi Shogunate (Japan), square off against the nation of Magog that has arrived for the End of the World, where the peoples of a war-ravaged Europe and Middle-East flee the crusades and join forces to bring down the Abrahemic Faiths.
The first few images are an expanded roster for the Kingdom of Germanicae, which was sorely lacking in core infantry troop types (it was either shitty spearmen or crazy awesome but expensive axemen and Zweihanders). The last two are additions to Magog's roster. The images in betetr detail:
1. A German Phalanx. All the other European factions had pikemen, so Germanicae needed them too. Now, a lot of people would say pikemen don't fit the brutal fighting of the frigid north, but I wrote in the backstory. Since Arminius was the first real "ruler" of Germania (in the games alternate history, not so much IRL) and he trained with Romans, he adopted the Phalanx to match the Roman's efficient training and tight formations, which led to him winning several battles such as the Battle of the Weser River.
2. Germanic Militia. All of the other factions received Swordsman units for militia (which is terribly inefficient and almost impossible IRL but ignore it) but Germanicae just got some cheap ass spearmen (which had improper models. They held their spears upside down. I had to fix it by switching in a new animation) so I gave them some based off of France's model with a new texture.
3. Crossbowmen. Crossbowmen were curiously not in the game, despite existing in that timeframe in real-life. I had to copy Rome: Barbarian Invasion's crossbow model and animations then painstakingly reskin it for all European factions (of which there are 5) and the Crusaders. However, it worked out in the end.
4. These guys were not available for Custom Battles (and maybe not even in the campaign). They are called the Knights of the True Cross and they are superbly badass. They could rip a demons head off and then light it on fire without breaking a sweat. Probably why they were removed, because they are massively OP.
5. Germanic Swordsmen. Once again, all the other factions got a working Men-at-Arms class, but Germanicae did not. They had the aforementioned bastard-sword wielding berserkers but they were crazy expensive and more of a special unit. Granted, they did have an axeman unit that could be considered their general Men-at-Arms unit, but I added these guys anyways. They have 1 less attack than the axemen but 3 more defense.
6. Gogmagog and the giants of Albion. Anyone who knows Roman Mythology, particularly the [I]Illiad's[/I] unofficial sequel, will remember these guys as the giants that the Trojans fought when they went to Albion (now Britain). Christians adopted them and split them in two, with Magog often being referred to as more than one entity (in fact, the entire combined force, including allies, of Hell) and Gog sometimes being analogous to the Antichrist or some kind of central leader. Islam has Magog once again being a massed military force, but some references seem to make them out as giants. So I added in the models from the sequel, End of Days II, and gave them a new name and backstory. Also, they look like Rancor's for some reason.
7. Gressil's Phalanx. The Magog units are usually named after the military leader for that nation who invented and used them. Gressil was the earliest, and in this case he made a Phalanx unit that I added to balance the European Phalanxes.
I also added the catapult and trebuchet models from Chivalry, another mod set in the Medieval Times.
