Has anyone made any mods to add in the L&D/GT content to the base game? The PS3 one could do this by default if both were bought digitally.
You can do it manually. The vehicles are the easy part, weapons are relatively easy too but you gotta spawn them through a trainer. Buildings and interiors are more tricky, but I did it once.
Is there a list of lore friendly vehicle mods?
Apart from the EFLC vehicles, there are also the GTA V vehicles that are being massively converted, you can find them easily. Other vehicles from old games are scarce, but there must be a couple.
How does someone add vehicles to GTA IV without making them replace vehicles?
1) Use OpenIV to create a new .img archive with whatever name you want, and place it in pc/models/cdimages. 2) Go to common/data/ and add a new line at the end of gta.dat:
IDE common:/data/[archive name].IDE
3) Open images.txt in the same folder and add this line right before #map xref:
platformimg:/models/cdimages/[archive name] 1
4) In the same folder, make a copy of vehicles.ide and rename it the same name you gave to the archive. 5) Using OpenIV, add any model and texture file for your vehicles in the archive you created. Then add the handling lines to handling.dat in common/data/, add the vehicle colors in carcols.dat (make sure it uses 3 or either 4 colors), the vehicle identification line to [your archive name].ide, and optionally, add the view settings in vehoff.csv and add your vehicle to the game traffic using cargrp.dat. Very simple, really. If you're looking to add the GTA V vehicles to GTA IV, I can provide you with something no one else has: the handling line perfectly converted for each vehicle. As far as I know, no one else has managed it.
Has anyone made any mods to give GTA IV a "true" traffic spawn system, ala SR4?
Not sure what that means, but I'm interested.
I wonder why does Jimmy look for [sp] Niko [/sp] on Lifeinvader. Maybe [sp] Niko's [/sp] story became kinda popular and it was spread through the country. He turned the tables of an entire city, wiped almost all his enemies and earned a fortune as a professional veteran hired gun, when all he wanted to do was just playing bowling.
No way, it took years and years for actual support for synched and working pedestrians in online just for San Andreas and I don't think that's been achieved for IV at all yet. We might get something, but it'll just be set in a completely empty world with only the players populating.
Don't think dedicated servers will make it but some how emulating the GTAO cloud using a custom client sounds far simpler and by proxy i'd assume would happen far faster. also mta was working off of absolutely no framework so of course it took longer, the game had no online multiplayer.
I really wish apartments were custom and not just preset. I imagined poker games and stuff, not... the starting lobby.
I'm hoping a GTAO master server emulator will pop up after a while, then we'll might see the likes of some MTA gamemodes come back.
An MTAish project may pop up. No promises.
No way, it took years and years for actual support for synched and working pedestrians in online just for San Andreas and I don't think that's been achieved for IV at all yet. MTAIV works and isn't released, fully synced AI peds, vehicles, police, etc. It all worked in 2009. Look at CitizenIV for an example of a similar implementation that's public.
You can do it manually. The vehicles are the easy part, weapons are relatively easy too but you gotta spawn them through a trainer. Buildings and interiors are more tricky, but I did it once.
Got a document on how to do it? Does it include the radio stations/tracks? I can pretty much supply proof I own both GTA IV, and the expansion packs.
Apart from the EFLC vehicles, there are also the GTA V vehicles that are being massively converted, you can find them easily. Other vehicles from old games are scarce, but there must be a couple.
I've seen a few that were edits of real cars, just enough to make them lore friendly, as well as new badges.
1) Use OpenIV to create a new .img archive with whatever name you want, and place it in pc/models/cdimages. 2) Go to common/data/ and add a new line at the end of gta.dat: 3) Open images.txt in the same folder and add this line right before #map xref: 4) In the same folder, make a copy of vehicles.ide and rename it the same name you gave to the archive. 5) Using OpenIV, add any model and texture file for your vehicles in the archive you created.
Not sure what that means, but I'm interested.
What this pretty much means is what vehicles spawn in traffic and the like, is not dependent on the car you actually have. For example; Player drives Futo. 50% chance more Futos will spawn, 20% car here, ect, ect, with a list of what cars will NOT spawn as well. This is the current system. Each GTA game suffers from this. More obvious in older games though. You know, we've all been there. Driving one shitty ass junker, search for hours, and find an Inferno. Only to when we start driving it, all we see is a sea of Infernos. What SRIV did was different. It doesn't matter what vehicle the player has, each vehicle is loaded into a spawn system at different percentages of spawning. Giving the game "true" traffic.
What are some good mods to get for SA? I have a shit ton of player models and weapon skins, but that's about it.
Got a document on how to do it? Does it include the radio stations/tracks?
To be honest I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Vehicles are simple though, just copy the vehicles.img archive from each DLC, name it to something else, and follow the same instructions as with adding vehicles. Copy all the lines from each DLC vehicle's carcols.dat into GTA IV's carcols.dat, etc. You can have multiple added archives, it's no problem. About the weapons, I have not experimented as much so I can't say for certain, but the system is similar. All the weapon code lines are located in common/data/weaponinfo.xml. For interiors and buildings, you'll need to manually extract each additional asset from an archive and add it to another, and it's very tedious and not so rewarding. There will be bugs and maybe crashes too, so you shouldn't try it. About radio stations, I'm afraid you can't get them into GTA IV. I tried.
I've seen a few that were edits of real cars, just enough to make them lore friendly, as well as new badges.
Anyone could easily change a few textures on any vehicle mod to make it lore-friendly. You know, like downloading a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and changing the badges to say "Enus Stafford". It can be satisfying if you do it right.
Will the game freak out? I've heard the game having odd bugs.
Added vehicles only make the game freak out when you use the basic, barbarian method: adding vehicles directly to vehicles.img. The method I gave you is perfectly safe.
What this pretty much means is what vehicles spawn in traffic and the like, is not dependent on the car you actually have. For example; Player drives Futo. 50% chance more Futos will spawn, 20% car here, ect, ect, with a list of what cars will NOT spawn as well. This is the current system. I don't think that can be avoided unfortunately.
Replace all of those with "Ram them to death with my car" and you have accurately summed up 90% of my Online playtime.
anyone know what the best vehicle is to ram into people and disable cars? i'm talking what you can keep in your garage, of course i was thinking a 4-door Sandking, with the suspension lowered so that more of the bumper connects with the target. plus you can improve its engine and get some serious velocity, as opposed to stealing a riot van / armored car and dealing with stock stats
anyone know what the best vehicle is to ram into people and disable cars? i'm talking what you can keep in your garage, of course i was thinking a 4-door Sandking, with the suspension lowered so that more of the bumper connects with the target. plus you can improve its engine and get some serious velocity, as opposed to stealing a riot van / armored car and dealing with stock stats
the suburban thing works pretty well
-snip-
So let me get this straight, all I gotta do is just copy/paste? That doesn't sound hard. Since you've done most of them, could up uploaded the changed files, at least for the weapons/buildings. The vehicles sound like something a novice couldn't even fuck up. As for the GTA IV problem.. not exactly. It's kind of hard to explain. But I'll try again. Say I drive a Taxi cab. Only Dukes, Uranus, Solairs, and other Taxi cabs will spawn, but with the favor tipping to Taxi cabs. The spawnpool in reality isn't that small, but this is an example. Point is it doesn't use all the vehicles. But if I drive a taxi cab in SR4, there is no "pool" of vehicles that will only spawn. All vehicles ingame will spawn. [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] Ok. So this is what I have for vehicles. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV\pc\models\cdimages tbogtvehicles.img tladvehicles.img vehicles.img And this is my carcols.dat http://pastebin.com/Bmc1vtfk Correct? To be clear on what I did 1) Took TBOGT's vehicles.img, and renamed by rightclicking. Did the same for TLAD. 2) Moved it to Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV\pc\models\cdimages 3) Opened the carcols.dat, copied the data from the two expansion packs Missing anything? Scratch that, I'm completely lost.
Is there a legit way to change my character's appearance in GTA Online? He's always been ugly as shit but there's no way to change him without glitching. Can't provide pics of his assface because for some reason my Snapmatic doesn't work.

I have no idea what the logic is of when it comes up, it seems to be random.
Today's GTA O Adventure was cargobobbing an NPC controlled tank from FZ to LS. The tank drove around like a normal civillian until I lost sight of it (I was dumb and didn't grab a car) and it presumably de-spawned.

Neat
I was driving my Sanchez around Dorset Drive when I see this little guy in a P-996 Lazer trying to blow me up. He was about to fly-by me but I accidentally pressed the brake pedal and survived the strike. Then he crashed into a palm tree and died. He left the game soon after that happened.
i just nearly got hunted down by 3 serbian gangsters I had a large bounty on my head, and i was driving down the highway near the noose building, when 3 people in dominators with serbian flags come after me. I managed to kill one of them, but the other two were still following me. I went into a tight ramp and shot the tire of a transport truck, it swerved and blocked the way so i was able to get away it was sick as shit

The truck is crazy, you can ram plane and make them explode and come out relativity unharmed no problem.
I wouldn't mind this way of dealing with it: - Mods do not trigger any negative effects in singleplayer - If you sign into GTAO with a modded game, you are forced into an alternate matchmaking service comprised exclusively of other players with modded games - Your GTAO character from non-modded multiplayer will be ignored, you will be prompted to create a new one for modded multiplayer - Social Club features are disabled in modded multiplayer, as is buying currency - If you restore your game to a fresh state, the previous three effects disappear, and you are able to access your 'official' GTAO character again like they never left - If you mod your game again, those effects return and you regain access to your modded GTAO character Basically, split the service in half (complete with separate characters) so people who want mods in MP can have them, but they can't mod their games to actively ruin the fun of players wanting to play by Rockstar's rules.
Who would play the normal GTAO when the modded one was basically the same thing except with more fun though? :v: [editline]31st August 2014[/editline] Couldn't they just put some sort of anti cheat on the Online? I hope there's gonna be a multiplayer mod which would basically add the barebones freeroam from GTA IV into V, that's honestly all I ever wanted.
i fucking had enough, i was fighting this Rangornd, that sperg griefed everyone with a lazer, and he felt so edgy killing everyone, saldy he took me down with a buzzard and i ragequit the session

Neat
We discovered that if someone is sat in the barbers chair, the hairdresser doesn't run off so you can just shoot her repeatedly. Which then led to police storming in and killing everyone but the person in the chair, so bodies started piling up when Chaotic/Mube/Chimp came back in with their assault rifles. My first experience on the PS3 version of multiplayer went to a tune like this: Completed everything up to where Lamar wants you to rob a store, I'm driving to the store than some assholes (Levels 156/178) in a Chrome/Gold Adder kill me, than proceed to camp me for around 20 minutes. The only reason I got them to back off is that they saw that I had the Hammer from the Collector's edition, and told me if I dropped it they would piss off. [editline]31st August 2014[/editline]
Every once in a while a prompt comes up asking you if you'd like to modify your character's face. I have no idea what the logic is of when it comes up, it seems to be random.
When I used that prompt at level 20-ish on Xbox, it also reset my rank and forced me to do the tutorial again.
I've never had Lamar ask me to hold up a store...is that just part of the online tutorial?
I've never had Lamar ask me to hold up a store...is that just part of the online tutorial?
Yeah, after you do that Simeon calls you and you get your first car.
i wonder if i can survive a bounty by just staying in the safehouse
i wonder if i can survive a bounty by just staying in the safehouse
You could before, but I think they stopped you from doing it now. Think the timer doesn't count down when you're in the safehouse.
