I wonder if the next-gen's vehicle memory could be sizable enough to include randomly modded cars
that's one thing that kinda killed a bit of immersion, almost every car you see is stock, except for a select few cars that are allowed to spawn with one type of spoiler or a different roof color.
Kind of like in real life? Most people's cars are stock anyway, aside from slight variation like standard/sport models.
I mean, if they make it a decently rare thing, that'd be pretty cool, but it loses its novelty a little if you're seeing them everywhere.
[editline]t[/editline]
Plus, truly randomized mods could look really ugly, unless they're presets with randomized elements.
Seems correct, but watch out for double entries. There are vehicles that are in both TLAD and TBOGT: bati2 (Bati Custom), hexer, hakuchou, slamvan and tampa. You only need to remove the lines in carcols.dat, [whatever].ide, handling.dat for one of those. I suggest you keep those from TLAD, as you will notice the headlights in TBOGT are not working properly.
Anyway, did you copy the handling lines from each DLC into GTA IV's handling.dat? The place where you put it is irrelevant, but don't leave any line blank, that'll make your game crash. I mean, don't leave a line like this:
You can do it in other files though. Anyway, copy vehicles.ide twice, rename the copies to whatever name you gave to the DLC archives (again, watch out for vehicles that are in both). About cargrp.dat, add the vehicles manually. Once you've taken a look inside, you'll see it's very simple. Finally, don't forget to add your archives to gta.dat and images.txt like I described it in my first post to you. Once you're used to it, it's very easy and fast!
Well. I broke my game. I might have to ask someone to do all that for me.
the penumbra is my favourite car ever
even though it isn't the fastest or anything, it has a touch to it that cannot be matched by anything else imo
Well. I broke my game. I might have to ask someone to do all that for me.
Sorry to hear that. You should make sure that you left no blank line in handling.dat like I said, and that the lines you added in gta.dat and images.txt are correct.

Speaking of recent favorite cars, in GTA4, the Huntley Sport came out of nowhere as one of my top picks for missions now.
It's ridiculously sporty for an SUV, handles like a dream but is still heavy as hell. Feels good to be able to bully traffic out of my way as I'm chasing someone down, and still be able to keep up with even the sport coupes on long open stretches.
[editline]t[/editline]
Seriously. I got in one on a whim and immediately thought my handling mod was bugged, because it peeled out like a Coquette and was able to make a sharp turn without slowing down.

The Serrano2 in TBoGT was crazy as well.
Also, did anyone ever notice how the Crown Vic-esque police car in GTA 4 (the only one that would spawn online) had much more firm suspension and more power online than in single player? In MP it was so firm that you could roll it on your average kerb.
IIRC they buffed it for Cops N' Crooks specifically, but that carried over to all instances of it online.
Testers kept ditching the patrol car at the beginning of the round in favor of something faster nearby, so they just made it way better.

That makes sense, it also reminds me that either the bus or the cop car on Witness Protection was horrifically gimped, it'd reach a certain speed and the RPM sound would just even out even though it felt like it had tons more torque.
What part of the game's files causes this buff? There's only one handling entry for the car. It'd be interesting to see if anything else changes depending on networked modes.
On a different note... How the heck do people seriously play GTA4 with mouse and keyboard on PC? Not having analog steering/accel/brake really blows in a game like this.
I can't even begin to count the number of times I'm sure I'd have been fucked if I wasn't using a controller, that extra finesse while driving is an absolute godsend.
I have never been to the barber shop because my current haircut doesn't exist anymore (I'm using a Black Wavy Bob).
I don't know if it is a glitch or something, but no other options appear for the Wavy Bob except for the Chestnut, Auburn and Blonde one (and they all look bad).
Before someone says: The haircut that you're currently using appears on the list with the Equipped Icon next to it, when you go to the barber shop it doesn't show up for some reason, I don't know if it is just the icon that disappeared or the haircut which is no longer available for whatever reason.
This is my character.

I'm afraid that if I change the haircut I will lose it forever, I don't like the normal bob and blonde looks bad, it looks like a fake-blonde, which is the worst kind of blonde.
But then during races I "accidentally" hit the / key causing cars to explode around me blocking the road for the NPCs making it unfair!
You can temporarily disable the hotkeys/trainer at any time. I forgot people actually do this:

Exactly. I'm not trying to tell people how to play the game on PC, but why do some insist on playing EVERY PC game with keyboard/mouse?
Well, personally, I can use K/M no problem in any game. FPS, race, or other.

It depends.
I always wanted to play games on PC using an analog gamepad, but they're usually expensive here and the only cheap ones usually have terrible reviews or have bad performance/break easily.
Though, the only GTA game that I had for PC was GTA:SA, but the disc got scratched and my video card was weird and made the textures look blurry and some text/blips unredeable.
I have to say that I got used to use mouse and keyboard, dunno why, I beat the game that way.

because we're not filthy peasants who need aim-locking?
because we're not filthy peasants who need aim-locking?
as much as I prefer shooting in any game with a M+KB, being accurate with a controller is a skill you can hone like any other and at least when I played RDR/GTAV I could turn it on the "expert" mode or whatever nonsense removes the auto aim and do just fine.
Sent a invite request to the crew, if its the correct one i assume.
because we're not filthy peasants who need aim-locking?
But then you lose the ability to turn your steering wheel or push the gas/brake pedals less than 100%, which anyone who actually drives can remind you the importance of.
[editline]t[/editline]
Personally I prefer a controller if the game in question has free movement and loose camera (Mario 64 style) for more precise navigation, and prefer keyboard and mouse when it has strafe or Y-locked movement and precise camera (Resident Evil 4 / FPS style) for more precise aim. GTA4 has both, but the former is the majority of the game, so I use a controller.
Sorry to hear that. You should make sure that you left no blank line in handling.dat like I said, and that the lines you added in gta.dat and images.txt are correct.
I hate to ask, but could you temp upload all the changes for me? I'm wiping my GTA IVs and DLC as I type this.

The animation-based input lag feels a lot worse with a keyboard and mouse to me, probably because input-lag is expected with controllers, with K+M you expect snappy action
Shooting out of a car is more comfortable, though
I still could use either. Steering or using pedals is easy on either setup for me.
Anyone waiting for PC, Xbox One, PS4 releasedate?
Write November 14th in your fucking calendar.
i can't believe you nailed it
Redownloaded GTA IV the other day to finish getting the platinum, I don't remember the driving being so fucking bad.

It's not difficult. Honestly, I don't know how you shoot and drive at the same time accurately with a joystick.
so i booted up gta 5, and i see a event button, wth?

getting platinum in games like GTA is god-tier difficulty
GTA V was a lot easier than IV. V took me like 3 months, IV took me 6 years.
so i booted up gta 5, and i see a event button, wth?
Ignore those unless you want to be put in a shitty playlist.
GTA V was a lot easier than IV. V took me like 3 months, IV took me 6 years.
You could easily complete V's story in a weekend if you wanted to.
You could easily complete V's story in a weekend if you wanted to.
You can do the same on GTA IV. Took me about 12 hours to finish the story on IV and about the same for V.
I feel bad for rushing through V's singleplayer. It's not until now when I look back that I realize how fun it was.
I haven't touched the game in 4 months and I will stay abstinent until the PC version releases, to get some sort of "new game feel".
