I only have one more trophy to get for platinum in GTA V. "Obtain first place in all competitive game types." Gotta play me some Vehicle Deathmatches.
Redownloaded GTA IV the other day to finish getting the platinum, I don't remember the driving being so fucking bad.
I actually got a mod for GTA4 that gives it GTA5-esque vehicle handling, which feels SO much better. Doesn't make it easier though, every car still has a unique feel and some are still objectively better than others. Also, the mod makes you take damage every time you suffer a heavy impact, which balances it nicely IMO. [editline]t[/editline] Seriously, look how much better this is: Feels so liberating to be able to drive an SUV over 25mph without it sliding all over the place constantly.
I hate to ask, but could you temp upload all the changes for me? I'm wiping my GTA IVs and DLC as I type this.
Changes? What changes? I could upload gta.dat and images.txt, but you'd need to tell me what the name of your new archives are.
http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/52302/new-gta-online-flight-school-jobs-now-available-to-play-earn
[...] Along with these new Jobs, we've also created the New Flight School Jobs Playlist that features a varied assortment of the new Jobs from today's update. This special Playlist will award you Double RP all week long - and for those who may have been unable to unlock the exclusive 'High Flyer' Parachute Pack as part of our recent Event Weekend, we're making that available to all who play through this new Playlist to completion.
So yeah, if you still want that weed parachute bag, play the new playlist.

I've 100%'ed IV's singleplayer, but nobody is ever online on Multiplayer.
How did you get the multiplayer trophies? I've 100%'ed IV's singleplayer, but nobody is ever online on Multiplayer.
They're all at the airport in free mode, fighting each other with anihilators.
They're all at the airport in free mode, fighting each other with anihilators.
i seriously don't understand, what's fun there the whole city is open for everyone
Why do you all think the driving is shit? Once you get the hang of it it's easy.
driving is way easy when you're using a damn controller
Which is why you should use a controller in GTA. Fun fact: In GTA4 PC, you can plug in a controller and still use the mouse and keyboard. When you push a button on the controller, it switches instantly to controller mode, and when you move the mouse or press a key it changes just as quickly to M&K mode. You can absolutely have the best of both worlds, as long as going back and forth doesn't bother you. You can even use the left stick of the controller to move and the mouse to aim simultaneously, how nuts is that? [editline]t[/editline] If you want to go really eccentric, you can even set up a racing wheel and pedals to use just for driving, defaulting to M&K for everything else.
Why do you all think the driving is shit? Once you get the hang of it it's easy.
Easy =/= not shit I like being able to go more than 25 mph. [editline]a[/editline] He asked a question, I answered.
Seriously though, I recommend anyone with GTA4 on PC at least try this mod, even briefly. It may not be realistic, but it sure makes driving a lot more fun, and makes more vehicles worth using.
Changes? What changes? I could upload gta.dat and images.txt, but you'd need to tell me what the name of your new archives are.
Was I supposed to repack them using the GTA tool, or is that just for mods downloaded? Anyway, I renamed them to tbogtvehicles.img and tladvehicles.img
Was I supposed to repack them using the GTA tool, or is that just for mods downloaded? Anyway, I renamed them to tbogtvehicles.img and tladvehicles.img
If you only want to add the DLC vehicles for now, you don't have to use the "GTA tool" (which I suppose is OpenIV). So, at the bottom of gta.dat, you need to add these lines after the first one shown here, so that it looks the same; only add the lines in bold:
IPL platform:/DATA/MAPS/GENERIC/lodcull_e.IPL IDE common:/data/TBOGTVEHICLES.IDE IDE common:/data/TLADVEHICLES.IDE
Before, or after making those two files of course (tbogtvehicle.ide and tladvehicle.ide). Just take each DLC's vehicles.ide and rename it appropriately. Then, in images.txt, at the bottom (only add the lines in bold too):
platformimg:/data/maps/east/bronx_w2 0 platformimg:/models/cdimages/tbogtvehicles 1 platformimg:/models/cdimages/tladvehicles 1 #map xref #map instance
Then like I said, copy each vehicle line from each DLC file into the GTA IV equivalent: carcols.dat and handling.dat, and optionally vehoff.csv. You need to edit cargrp.dat manually if you want the vehicles to spawn in traffic, but it's very simple. As always remember: get rid of the duplicate vehicles (present in both DLCs, choose the TLAD version) and make sure you leave no blank line in handling.dat or your game will crash.
you know how assassination targets are always driving grey SUVs? what if Lester's behind that too? when the targets, whoever they are, land in los Santos, Lester handles their car rental service to make sure they drive a grey SUV, as a marker for his assassins :0
Why do you all think the driving is shit? Once you get the hang of it it's easy.
I never found it to bother me, even in the duke's street races in IV it never bothered me even though that thing handled like a brick. Then again I'm just a fluky bitch when it comes to driving games.
haha, I was doing the Sinking Feeling mission, and three of the four people in my game including me, died. The other guy, however, never got out of his car once. He killed every enemy by shooting from his car, and wedged it in places cars aren't supposed to go. It literally took about 45 minutes for him to complete the mission.
On a different note... How the heck do people seriously play GTA4 with mouse and keyboard on PC? Not having analog steering/accel/brake really blows in a game like this. I can't even begin to count the number of times I'm sure I'd have been fucked if I wasn't using a controller, that extra finesse while driving is an absolute godsend.
It's weird. Seeing posts like this really makes me feel like I'm missing out, but I honestly never had a problem with IV's driving. I love how you really have to plan your route, especially with the cramped streets LC has, and how you have to do things like slow down before you take corners. It's not so much realistic as it is technical, once you figure it out you can certainly do a lot of crazy stunts that you couldn't with an actual car, but it still manages to be gratifying all the same. Never played V, so I don't mean to dis anyone comfortable with that. Then again we probably have very different viewpoints, since I've never really played with a gamepad. Is that what the whole helicopters thing is all about? I never had problems with those, they're really easy to pilot using just a keyboard.
Easy =/= not shit I like being able to go more than 25 mph. [editline]a[/editline] He asked a question, I answered.
I know this might be really crazy to think about, but maybe you're the one who is shit at driving? Seriously the driving is good in GTA IV. A little too heavy on the braking but its still easy.
I know this might be really crazy to think about, but maybe you're the one who is shit at driving? Seriously the driving is good in GTA IV. A little too heavy on the braking but its still easy.
When did I ever say it was hard? "I like going more than 25 MPH" means "I don't like breaking every 10 feet so I don't spin out or flip my car" The driving is functional, it's just not enjoyable one bit imo. As soon as you say "A little too heavy on the braking" my point is immediately validated. You guys seem to think "I don't like this" means "It's too hard!!!! :(" By that logic Dark Souls is the biggest piece of shit on Earth.

24 minutes into the 3rd triathlon, AI does its bullshit super boost at 50 mph on the bike past me, hits me on the way and my character bugs out and hits a sign and i die. what a waste of time
24 minutes into the 3rd triathlon, AI does its bullshit super boost at 50 mph on the bike past me, hits me on the way and my character bugs out and hits a sign and i die. what a waste of time
You can trick the AI from trying to ever cheat and pass you if you check your minimap and make sure you are literally infront of them at all times. I don't know how well this works since I've only done it once in the mega triathlon, but using the tactic seemed to make the npcs obey the normal laws of physics more often.
I have noticed that during the triathlon most of the NPCs move at impossible speeds, but during the last part (the running part), they go extremely slow for some reason. Is this a feature or just the AI acting weird? I swear, this happens every time I do a triathlon.
I didn't have problems with any of the triathlons. The swimming was unwinnable bullshit, the biking was all about not hitting anything once, and the running was just making sure you were in front of whoever was behind you and taking the shortest path possible. IIRC, that is. It's been months since I just did them all at one time.

i just realized the in-game pontiac firebird is called the phoenix that's awesome
Man... Dwayne is I think the very first GTA character I've ever felt genuine sympathy for. Half because of his backstory, half because he portrays depression in a really uncomfortably accurate way. [sp]And he reminds me a lot of someone I knew a few years back, whom I talked out of suicide.[/sp]

There are so many people who don't realise that on the Race bikes in Triathlons/MP cycle races, if you hold R1 you go faster.
