Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V2: Give Me (GTA V) PC
Which is why you should use a controller in GTA.
Fun fact: In GTA4 PC, you can plug in a controller and still use the mouse and keyboard. When you push a button on the controller, it switches instantly to controller mode, and when you move the mouse or press a key it changes just as quickly to M&K mode. You can absolutely have the best of both worlds, as long as going back and forth doesn't bother you. You can even use the left stick of the controller to move and the mouse to aim simultaneously, how nuts is that?
[editline]t[/editline]
If you want to go really eccentric, you can even set up a racing wheel and pedals to use just for driving, defaulting to M&K for everything else.
The power of XInput
Man... Dwayne is I think the very first GTA character I've ever felt genuine sympathy for. Half because of his backstory, half because he portrays depression in a really uncomfortably accurate way.
[sp]And he reminds me a lot of someone I knew a few years back, whom I talked out of suicide.[/sp]
The worst part if you [sp]kill him is the e-mail you get from him after saying he doesn't have a lot of friends and that he'd like to hang out sometime[/sp]

Good thing I [sp]shot playboy[/sp] instead
You can trick the AI from trying to ever cheat and pass you if you check your minimap and make sure you are literally infront of them at all times. I don't know how well this works since I've only done it once in the mega triathlon, but using the tactic seemed to make the npcs obey the normal laws of physics more often.
I played the last triathlon and it seemed like I was losing really bad when cycling because of the bullshit boosts but when I got to running the other people just walked slowly while I ran / jogged all the way and won easily.
Good thing I [sp]shot playboy[/sp] instead
There is absolutely no advantage in [sp]killing Dwayne[/sp]. By doing so, you don't get the ability to call goons for backup as well as Playboy's apart and you can't hang out with him.
If you don't kill X you don't get Claudes clothes.
If you don't kill X you don't get Claudes clothes.
Who in the history of gta would not kill X , he's an asshole
On my first playthrough I killed Dwayne because Playboy gave me a camera phone :(
On my first playthrough I killed Dwayne because Playboy gave me a camera phone :(
Yes, because when you have premium phone! That is when you have really made it!
I didn't have problems with any of the triathlons. The swimming was unwinnable bullshit, the biking was all about not hitting anything once, and the running was just making sure you were in front of whoever was behind you and taking the shortest path possible.
IIRC, that is. It's been months since I just did them all at one time.
For some reason on the 30 minute triathlon, the guy ahead of me (with me being in 2nd) got miles and miles ahead during the bike part, then waited at the start of the running part and I won.

I even fell off my bike at one point, and still won.
Anyone waiting for PC, Xbox One, PS4 releasedate?
Write November 14th in your fucking calendar.
Remember when i told you this 2 weeks ago guys?
Got it from a friend who intern'd at Rockstar, he told me this was the Rockstar internal releasetarget.
So glad some other sources are now also suggesting the same releasedate.
Seems I was right, or at least not spewing complete bullshit.
Well, even if it's more likely to be the date, R* still has yet to say anything. And who knows if they decide to delay it to get it closer to Christmas.
[editline]3rd September 2014[/editline]
I'd also believe it to be on a Tuesday, since that's when games normally are released here.
I ain't believing shit until rockstar gets off their ass and actually announces a date
Really? The swimming is where I always get a head start.
Protip: You're faster when you're underwater.
I didn't go underwater, so there lies the problem.
Honestly I forgot how to dive. That's always been an issue for me in GTA games where you could swim, I always forget the controls.
I ain't believing shit until rockstar gets off their ass and actually announces a date
As per standard procedure, and the only right approach when it comes to rumours.
Im taking my own rumour with a pinch of salt. Even if the rumour was correct. And it seems to be since confirmation from other sources has arrived, things can still change.

The problem with those confirmations, they probably all come from the same source. They saw another site say it, and they repeat the same thing.
The problem with those confirmations, they probably all come from the same source. They saw another site say it, and they repeat the same thing.
No, no.
I said 14 November before any site did, and I got my info from an intern at Rockstar.
Now all those sites are reporting November 14th because a UK and a German wholeseller reported.
That's at least 3 sources. I know the most important one is missing, but at least it's not just one source repeating anothers bullshit blindly.

I think you get like 20-30x normal mission completion money at that point, but why? It's just money. You can farm money by mashing peds against a wall after they've used an ATM, and you don't even get a wanted level.
Personally I opted to kill [sp]Playboy[/sp] because he was a cunt. Didn't even give him the honor of an execution, I just beat him to death with a baseball bat.
[editline]t[/editline]
Also I had a feeling I'd be getting his apartment eventually thanks to the resident parking out front. Thanks for spoiling deaths through game mechanics, Rockstar.
I didn't think anybody even chose to [sp]kill Dwayne[/sp]

At least one person did.

I know, I was surprised.

Amazon leaked this date at least a month before you ever posted. Who the hell cares?
I ain't believing shit until rockstar gets off their ass and actually announces a date
This is what everyone should be doing.
Amazon leaked this date at least a month before you ever posted. Who the hell cares?

[del]They did? Let me google that.[/del] Amazon said October 28th, I said 14th.
And exactly, everyone should just wait for official Rockstar announcements. Just as I also suggested..
Calm down mate, I'm only quasi-pleased with how I didn't turn out to be the next 'I-know-a-guy-guy spouting bullshit.
I think I messed up around handling.dat, vehoff.cvp, and cargrp.dat
How would you know? And if you're right, then forget about vehoff, it's not worth it. Also forget about cargrp.dat for now, you can use simple native trainer to spawn your added cars. And about handling.dat, not sure what you can mess up. Like I said, just copy the lines from each DLC vehicle and paste it into GTA IV's handling.dat, remove duplicates and don't leave any blank line. Easy as can be.
I ended up glitching into the underground parking of the Union Depository in GTA Online

I went through that opening in pic 4, and ended up underneath the garage in a glitch version of the underground tunnels.

Edit: Some of the pics are broke, I'll make a Imgur album

I killed Dwayne.
I wasn't paying attention to the story.
So far I'm actually genuinely enjoying GTA4's story, and I'm not usually one who cares about the story in GTA games.
The characters are much more believable than past games I've played, less entirely stereotypical and more interesting. Niko in particular, most of the time he harms an innocent he apologizes, and if he takes aim at or kills a pedestrian, he does so sounding irritated rather than macho; that in itself goes a pretty long way towards making him feel like a real person.
You know what's funny? At the end of GTA 5..
[sp] Franklin has the option to kill Trevor or Micheal, but I'm sure most people would rather kill Franklin out of the three. He's so BORING. [/sp]
[sp]I chose deathwish because when given an option like this I always go for the "lmao sure let's try this" option.[/sp]
Also if you choose to [sp]kill one of them, how does it affect your character-switching[/sp]?

But then it gets shattered when I ram into the side of a car in the wrong lane on a red light around a corner at high speeds and he shouts "ONLY IN THIS COUNTRY DO THEY LET BLIND PEOPLE DRIVE" and it's like "calm down niko I admit that one was my fault jeez"
Also if you choose to [sp]kill one of them, how does it affect your character-switching[/sp]?
All that happens is that you can't play as them, and if you [sp]kill[/sp] a different person, their money is given towards different things
[sp]If you kill Trevor, the money gets split between Franklin/Michael, if you kill Michael his money is given to his family (So no extra money for Trev or Frank.)[/sp]
