I kind of liked the wobbliness of IV's cars, some of the cars that should wobble in V are just... stiff, especially older cars and SUVs. Also, in GTA IV, whenever the gas pedal is slammed, the car's front end lifts up to simulate the supposed sheer torque of muscle cars.

People did it on the Last Gen GTA5 releases.

I like cars in both games, though i still think GTA V cars are lacking some inertia.
I know I'm late as shit, but are the map comparisons with IV legit? I still find it hard to believe Los Santos is the size of Liberty City alone.
I personaly didnt mind how IV's cars handled. I enjoyed the challenge of driving them fast and clean.
I didn't like how it feel that the cars bounced, I don't know why, it just weird seeing the traffic going normal and them my car bouncing everytime I hit the gas pedal.
GTA V has less bouncing.
Until you run out of lives and die because the missions are all ridiculous
I think the missions are alright except if there's a timer.
Also either the weapons Online are super weak or the NPC's are bullet sponges. Pretty annoying. It's just online, too, a headshot is always a kill in singleplayer, regardless of caliber, while in online you sometimes have to shoot someone several times in the head.
Also the online character drops after like 3 bullets.
So basically Online is pretty much artificial difficulty but the missions themselves would be okay if not for that. Not great or anything, but basic go there kill stuff kinda things.
Oh, and the spawning. I think GTA Online is the only GTA in which NPC's just fucking appear out of fucking nowhere. It's horrible, it's ruins the fun really.

I believe it because on foot lc would take forever to walk through. Same with los Santos. I think the big difference is the slow cars in gta4

The roads are also a lot wider in V

Yeah, my main complaints about GTA V's cars is that they feel like they don't tie in with the physics engine as well as IV's did. Which is a damn shame, really.
I mean handling in IV wasn't great but I liked it a lot and found it very enjoyable because it seemed to go hand in hand with the physics engine, in GTA V everything feels like a toy car.
Especially sad because the awesome new map would be a lot more fun with a bit more physics involvement. Maybe rockstar tuned that down due to hardware limitations? Would be a bummer, cause I doubt they'll change it for PC, which could handle it.

I used to play a made-up game mode on GTA where one player must get from one side of LC to the other on foot. While being chased by a player who can use any vehicle.
It actually took about half hour to get across on foot while dodging another player. Cars took a few minutes. You get to see all sorts of stuff you just blur past normally.
I'd love to do it in GTAV but you can't because your mental state rockets or the police murder you violently. But spending time on foot lets you see some cool environments.
Sent a request to join the FP crew. Name is Wasteblaster.
If anyone wants to do missions or just fuck around. Add me.
PS4 btw.

Sometimes in Single Player I walk around casually as Micheal being a good citizen. Sometimes I try to drive following the rules of the roads when the AI will let me. At least the AI doesn't honk or try to drive around you anymore when stopping at a red light
Going to be even better in first person.
IV's is fun because you can plow into another car going top speed and have everything turn into a pile of scrap. V's is better because they don't handle like bathtubs full of mercury, and you can turn a corner without almost coming to a dead stop.
Actually, how is that in GTA V? I remember how big a thing the 'realistic' car damage was in GTA IV, is that still in GTA V and did they expand on that? YouTube videos don't really show it well enough.
Overall, I think cars were much better handled in GTA IV. They had a sense of weight to them and you could master them. Plus car damage was way cooler.
I've gotten used to the cars in GTA V by now; but when I first played, I immediately could tell that something weird was going on.

Liberty City is a bit bigger than Los Santos. Not much, about 15-20 % bigger.
Tried to buy GTA V for the xbox one today. Store told me they were out of stock. This is fate telling me to wait for the PC version :v:
..Shame I told fate to fuck off and bought it digitally instead :v: Now own it on xbox 360,ps3 and now xbox one too much GTA.
and now you have to pay for internet
To all those people complaining about being killed too easily by NPCs in GTAO: are you playing online with others when it happens or are you playing the missions solo? I have a feeling that GTA 5 has a glitch that was from RDR where if you or someone else in your game was lagging, you could take 4x the damage of being hit once.

It's the same underlying system, i.e. a surface deformation system, but they've watered it down and reduced its impact tenfold. It's no longer possible to press a car into a cube by repeatedly sandwiching it between a wall and the bumper of a truck. It also has artificial limits beyond which the bodywork won't crush any more.
I could do a whole 30 minute video on why GTA V's car handling is worse than IV's, not least of which being the crash damage. Both games have massive flaws, IV's being that all the cars are set up wrong (too slow to accelerate, ridiculously soft suspension, no brakes), and V's being that the cars are also set up wrong (suspension too hard, too much grip, ridiculous engine braking murders any sensation of speed), and of course both games share some flaws (traction control-like system means drifting/powersliding is physically impossible). Overall though, GTA IV is vastly superior because it's far more fun to use when you get used to it, and it has some real depth which makes it difficult to master. All the cars in V feel like plastic, and there's no individuality to the way a lot of cars handle any more.
Maybe Rockstar will create a modified hybrid of these two and get it right in GTA6. And I really hope they do, because IV and V both have some of the best, most fun car handling around - better even than some racing simulators.
But I don't think they were trying to get it "right", GTA5 is meant to feel like Midnight Club, it is easy and accessible driving
I personally liked the very soft suspension in the GTA IV cars, really gave a sense of mass imo.

And it was extremly fun on vehicles like the Patriot

Yeah, this is also true. This is maybe a whole other discussion, but it feels like Rockstar were under pressure to create a more globally appealing game with GTA V vs GTA IV. The setting, the plot, the whole tone of the game just feels more obviously marketable - right down to the pluralisation of the protagonist.
And it worked, because GTA V has sold nearly three times the number of copies GTA IV did, but the end result is a game that feels not only badly balanced, but a bit... schizophrenic.
On one hand they feed the car nuts by including loads of cool, eclectic motors (AE86/Futo springs to mind) and letting us mod them nicely, but on the other hand they all behave like plastic.
On one hand they give us a zany story with three wacky characters, but on the other they cram all this unwelcome drama down our throats and give us some genuinely upsetting or disturbing moments.
On one hand you die after what feels like about ten bullets fired by cops, but on the other hand there are dick jokes everywhere.
I don't know, I guess San Andreas was this dualistic as well but it somehow feels a lot more obvious with V. Maybe because it's so much more badly written.
I'm pretty sure all cops in this game are the children of robocop and judge dredd

Probably, and that's where they made a mistake.
Did someone join my session on the ps4 then leave? I saw a facepunch logo for a second then he left.
Oh just got it today btw. Would love to play with you guys on a mission or, eventually, heists.
