Some Lost MC Members shoot at me because I'm trying to recover the wallet for some guy at the corner, and then once I open fire against them I get a wanted level and the dude who got his wallet stolen runs away from me.
It's kinda shitty because I always return stolen stuff in GTA.

John grew on me, Jack's just this dude that I couldn't care less about and has no story progression for him being grown up other than "he was at his dad's grave" and that's it.

You could either use PS3 Save Resigner or BruteForce Save Data.
I prefer PS3 Save Resigner.
Copy the GTA save to your PC, along with a gamesave from the user you want to put the GTA save on.
Load the other gamesave in the Resigner and create a profile with it's profile ID.
Then load the GTA save and apply the Profile ID to it, resign then copy back to PS3.

RDR ending is a perfect example of when story gets in the way of gameplay. That's a no-no.

I still can't finish RDR. I tried it twice, and both times I got to Mexico and did the train mission. I really like the game, but it seems this part is really slow in terms of overall story pacing: a lot of people stopped playing after Mexico.
Are there a lot of story missions left?
A bit late on this since it was being discussed last page, but if the tunable strings leaked a while back by funmw2 are real and if Rockstar hasn't changed them(which they probably did), then there are a few things to know:
First, there was a string describing a fee for requesting a heist; the value that was leaked, but not confirmed was $10,000 to request a heist.
There were also a couple strings that worked as multipliers for when you first play the heist and when you play it again any other time; the first play string obviously having a multiplier of 1 and the second string apparently being 0.3 for the multiplier. Now keep in mind, Rockstar also had this for missions, but as most of you know, that was removed and replaced with a time-based system to give you money. I'm not saying it'll be using the time-based stuff for the actual money you receive, but I don't think they'd exactly keep the severely reduced reward.
Next, there were two strings to describe the maximum and minimum take in a heist. Again, if the values are true, than the values are $1,500,000 and $100,000. I do remember seeing some string about Lester getting a cut though so if the values are the same, you won't be getting $1,500,000 in a perfect heist on your first attempt. Assuming Rockstar keeps the reduced reward for replaying heists, the maximum take will be $450,000 without taking into account Lester's cut which I cannot remember.
As for RP earned, I remember some stuff about gold, silver, and bronze medals that would dictate the amount of RP earned, but I don't remember seeing anything about maximum or minimum RP earned.
Again, none of this is confirmed and could have easily been changed since 1.15. Hell, back in the 1.15 tunables, the Hydra VTOL jet was referenced to be in the Flight School update which is something we didn't get.
Rockstar definitely knows better than to delay heists this long and make the max payout 450k. I'm almost completely sure it's either fake or developer-beta info.

As I said, if it's true, it's from the 1.15 tunables which also had stuff about the Hydra coming with the Flight School update which obviously didn't happen. I'm just explaining how heists would be if the tunable strings are the same from way back and if the values are still the same.

So apparently some details have been leaked regarding the new anti-cheat that is supposed to come with the new update(I have slightly changed to format to look better):

Your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will have calculated your cheater status before even sending your data to the server for even further analysis! Ensure you do not participate in any cash exploits or transfer modded characters after 1.05 releases on December 23rd 2014.
There isn't a 100% chance of being banned, but with this new system, it is almost certain that most cheats will be caught after syncing their exploited/cheated progress to the server. You are banned within 8 hours of sending your saved data to the server: prod.cs.rockstargames.com.
The maximum amount that can be earned within a 30-minute period (real-life minutes, not in-game) to prevent being marked as a cheat is around $40,000 GTA$. The maximum amount of RP is 14000 before being marked as a cheat.
Earning this amount through missions, genuine car sales etc within 30 minutes will not mean you are marked as a cheat, as the system can tell the difference between someone farming missions and someone duplicating/selling vehicles without the 45-minute sell cap.[/quote]

Christmas Apartment - There will be a new in-game High-end apartment which will be permanent but from December 25th till January 7th there will be limited-time props in the apartment; Christmas-pine tree with lights and a few present-like textures beneath the tree, a fireplace with stockings pinned to the front (we believe that Rockstar designed this last minute) and various Holiday-themed decorations scattered around the interior. There is no confirmed price for this apartment at this time.
Exclusive CnC Mission - At first we portrayed this as a generic bonus mission, but after deeper analysis we found code and texture models relating to a Christmas-themed Cops and Crooks mission - this doesn't mean there is only one mission, it means this is a special bonus for Christmas. We believe, from generic code, this is located around the Rockford Hills area.
Christmas Clothing - This will be all of the items we saw last year on last generation but this time there is 4 new items, these are still in non-identifiable format though.
Christmas Lights - From source code, we've found bits and pieces of reference to street Christmas lights, we haven;t been able to find or view textures for these lights, so they may be withdrawn at last minute but the following natives were found:
XMAS_STRT_CENTRAL
XMAS_STRT_DOWNTWN
XMAS_STRT_COUNTY
XMAS_STRT_APT

Weapon - One new weapon we believe to be linked with the Firework Launcher, the name is currently under a hashed Dev tag but we believe, from textures, that this is a Ball-Ball-related shooter - we attempted to analyse as much about this as possible but a lot was missing and still un-prepared.

No one is quite sure how this guy and his team are managing to get their hands on this information. It's oddly specific and shows that the leaker does have a fair amount of knowledge of the files though which is making me start to believe that this stuff is probably real.
