Is it just me or do the Carbines go through their clips in no time at all? I feel like I shoot one person, then another, and I have to reload already. The clips are 60 each I think and I feel like I only get 5 bullets out before I'm force to reload again. I'm using the special carbine because the other assault rifles are locked for me still.
gotta do them double taps and then hit them in the head while they're down like a pro operator
Didn't they kinda do just that in GTA IV?
Pretty much, yeah. They locked down files (with CRC hashing), but the motives for that were clear when I released a patch to remove the protection and weapons mods worked online (which I didn't even test at the time, leading to a pretty funny gtaforums thread where I apologize for ruining online play on launch).
Rockstar wasn't, at that time, explicitly anti-modding in my opinion. I think they were just clueless. They either did not consider modders at all (going from GTA:SA to GTA:IV, it is possible a lot of new developers were introduced or that developers working on RAGE were already separate from the Renderware team) or that they did it as a sort of last-minute "whatever" to "fix" their serious security problem lazily.
They became more explicitly anti-modding over time, with script hooks and trainers being used online, they decided an optimal solution would be to hash script function names with an unknown seed (so they'd be difficult to find across updates, and much harder across game engines or major updates).
This issue hasn't been solved but luckily somebody leaked a list of script function names for V so it's not going to be hard to get script mods going. I just wish we could mod actual scripts still, rather than hooking. They made a script decompiler/recompiler for V IIRC, but I think that became a lot less effective when hashes were introduced.
Riot mod, similar to that one cheat in San Andreas
Also LSPDFR hopefully
I worked on that for GTA 4 a few years ago, was buggy af and crashed constantly but it did sort of work. I haven't really figured out how to make all peds become aggressive, usually to select an existing ped you need to use functions which select an area of pedestrians or who are relative to the player in some way, selecting "all" pedestrians always led to big problems.
Would love to get it working in V. Actually kind of wonder if anyone has gotten it working for 4, wouldn't be hard to port over, I'll check that out.
I bet it will be all connected by Rockstar's Social Club. I mean, Retail copies and Steam copies
Nothing to bet about it. MP3 and LA Noire used it, and the console games use it.
Your GTA5 MP character and your Single Player stats are stored on the Social Club servers.
Single Player saves are made local though, at least on the console versions.
Unrelated, Save editing was possible on the Last Gen consoles without issue or ban.
AFAIK you can't edit your saves on the X-Box One version, but only because you can't store them on an external device. No idea about PS4
Hopefully PC save editing will be possible.
Yeah, the site I bought the key from said they would supply a download themselves and that the game will probably run through Social Club, so I have no doubt they'll use RSC.
What mods are you guys most excited for when PC comes around?
better tits mod
better tits mod
Exactly what I said before.
Breaks my strip club immersion.

i just really don't see what the appeal of modding GTA is.
The same appeal of modding any other game???

Oh holy shit, it's you. You work wonders dude. I had no idea you were on facepunch.
is there any actual reason to silence a gun online?
also i got into a sniper rifle pissing match for like an hour last night. man, the sniper rifles aren't fun to use with a controller.
suppressors do tend to prevent police attention, although due to the P2P connection system, and Rockstar's belief that police officers have the ears of a German Shepherd, it's a crapshoot anyway
most importantly they hide your blip during deathmatches and, well, are a lot quieter than unsuppressed weapons, which makes it easier to hide from other players
but for things like survival or contact missions, they're essentially useless

Unless they fixed it, you can stealth some GTAO missions with a heavy sniper as long as enemies don't see the body of the enemy you killed. :v:
Lately, I've just been doing the mission Pier Pressure because it's basically free roam with no cops. you can do whatever you want, and take your time with the main objective.
The same appeal of modding any other game???
AKA making the console versions look like shit in comparison
And fixing all of R*s problems that they didn't bother to fix themselves like police
Anti-Aliasing please.
Oh shit a max payne 3 style diving system would be pretty fucking neat too

Make Michael literally Max Payne
Finally managed to glitch into the FIB building after trying for nearly an hour. Took some pics of the inside. There's actually a lot to explore in there, it was definitely worth it.

Started Pickup Sticks with a full team on Hard, one died at the Cement Works, the other two died at the Altruist Camp, I managed to finish the mission by myself, Earls Mart and that other place with all the Chinese people.
Because I'm awesome. :D
Today is the day for System Requirements and Pre-Order
Is it a fairly reasonable assumption that I'll be able to play GTA V PC with an Intel Core i5 2300 @ 2.8Ghz , radeon r9 270 OC 2GB and 8GB ram?

If the game is optimized well then I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

I'd expect 60FPS 1080p on High
So I should also be fine on a Twin Frozr 760 2GB, 8GB RAM and an i5 4670K?
I've started playing the online again on the ps4 version. Decided to create a new character rather than pick up from where I left off on last gen. Currently a level 15 but every now and then when I level up I get a notification saying I've unlocked some new hairstyles.
Yet every time I go to the barbers I still only have the same 22 or something styles. Any ideas?
I think they changed how hairstyles are now, like you used to have to unlock some but now you have them all.
Does anyone on PS4 feel like helping me boost for vehicle upgrades? I really can't be bothered going into a million different races getting smashed about by shit head drivers just to end up coming second, all for engine upgrades and shit.
Just got my copy of PC gamer in t' mail and the preview confirms once more January 27th.
Fingers crossed!
How do you guys think i'll fare with an i3 2120 and a radeon hd 7850?

We are too close to release for it to be delayed right?
Then again we are also too close to release to not have specs, pre order and even a confirmed date on the store page itself
You know, there was a time seven or eight years ago when specs wouldn't be announced until you read the back of the box. I think we should just be patient, and assume no news is good news until proven otherwise.
