yeah because that's what I suggested, let me just remember where I said that, oh wait. I'm going to need you to dial down the stupid from 11 to about a 5. that's about all I can handle from you.
Online not working day 1 is still unacceptable. 2013 release on consoles, 2015(?) release on PC. If you cant support the game's online components day 1 you better delay it again or have a system to let more people gradually come online as the day progresses rather than flood their servers hours after release.
Online not working day 1 is still very normal and there's no reason Rockstar should invest in servers that will be redundant several weeks after launch.
Yeah, those billboard tree's covering the low resolution grass is an effective way of hiding it, assuming you're talking about just cause 2.

Maybe you meant just cause 3, if so maybe you could provide examples? I haven't seen any pictures of it that shows things from a distance.
I guess his point is more that the game looked so good when it came out, it's actually still okay to look at today.
Then again, GTA 5 doesn't look bad either.
But I think it's a good tactic to employ a few tricks that make the game look prettier than it really is in order to achieve a higher frame rate, because, seriously, playing a game, when do you really stop to look at the kind of details that you will make out by staring hard at a screenshot? When you're playing a game, everything is moving.
A game needs to look good in motion, not on screenshots. So high-res textures in the background really do not matter. A touch of smoke and mirrors that will hide a few deficiencies for as long as you don't stop and pull out a magnifying glass will matter all the more.

So when they say heists are coming out "weeks ahead" of the PC release does that mean it's coming before PC is released?

How can you be happy with that result though? knowing that the game will be lacking a significant portion of content on day 1? This is the same thing that happened with day 1 DLC, there's acknowledgement that it's a shitty practice but other than that nobody says anything.
Because he'll probably be busy playing SP in first person like every other person in the world?
If that was the case then online would be working perfectly fine :v:

How is a server going down anything like day one dlc? Not being able to play online for a couple of days is nothing like parts of the game being locked off behind a paywall unless you pre-ordered.
Server problems are just an unfortunate reality of most launches these days. Yes it's annoying but you can just wait a day or two and it is completely fine for the most part.

Because there's pretty much no way in the world to avoid it? They can buy a million servers so it all works, but then the player count will not be that high in like a month and then all that will be just be wasted.
Goddamnit 65GB compressed is still going to be fucking gigantic, like 50 at the least
Even if a buy a disk its either going to be 1. non steam or 2. basically empty just activates the game on steam and kicks off a massive download that takes 20 hours and eats up the entire months worth of bandwidth
You can still install steam games using the disk, it's just a sorta backwards process.
Still no pre-order.
Still no requirements.
Game will be delayed.
Every day until you like it.
We're dying here we're all dying.
Buying a game and not being able to access part of it on day 1 isnt anything like day 1 DLC? That wasn't even my original point but apparently you thought I was saying they're exactly the same. My original point was that people just begin to accept results that are not satisfactory. They've had plenty of time to prepare for this release now. Day 1 having components of the game down isn't acceptable.

Because it has happened to every popular game so far and it's not something that the developers can really fix without making unnessecary costs. And yeah, I'll personally be playing the singleplayer first. Also, I think that day 1 DLC is something entirely different.
Wow is killer900 the only sane guy here?!
You guys are a bunch of spoiled children. "WE WANT IT SOONER :(, I CANT WAIT NOMORE"
Rockstar is the only developer that actually finishes their product before releasing it. I'm damn grateful for it.
You guys gotta decide what you want.
You can't complain that BF4 is shit, and that AC Unity is shit, and ALSO complain that developers are taking time to polish their games via delays. It's one or the other.
Get something to do in your lives. Preferably a girlfriend.
I'll be doing mine in the meantime, and GTA V will be out before I know it.
I really can't tell if it looks better on PC or not. Asset wise I mean, the AF and AA is better in those screens.

you can polish a turd but it's still shit. I dont think any amount of time would have saved BF4.

Like Grand Theft Auto IV I guess?

I'm just disappointed in their bullshit PR and the fact that they chose delay the game so close to release.

Have fun doing her.
No, seriously, I'm not sitting here 24/7 counting every second until release. But that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed by this delay? What you're basically saying is that we can't be excited for anything anymore.

Delay aside that's actually pretty debatable content wise :v:

It's been years since I played that but that game is fucking beautiful for the time it came out and even its far away areas seemed highly detailed (in my memory at least). It still is beautiful even with low res terrain textures, in my opinion.
Like Grand Theft Auto IV I guess?

Now where did I say that?
I'm exited for it too, but it's just a damn game.
I'd be perfectly fine waiting another year if that's what it takes to get to it be finished.
I don't suffer from the inferiority complex towards consolegamers and again.. I have more things to do than just games.
Nah but for rizzle I just like to get mad at videogames. In the end I'll wind up playing/buying it anyway provided they dont completely drop the ball on the release. The people like me who are a bit pissed about it being moved back another 2 months have all the right to complain, it's not worth trying to act like they dont. But, they could have released what current gen consoles have and I think everyone would have been happy.
The real problem I have is the delay in releasing the PC version compared to the console version when there's a pretty clear understanding that the PC version wont have any extra content and nobody is really sure what all the delay is about. I would be fine if they delayed and let everyone know why.
I'm at the point now that I'm just going to forget about the game, it's probably going to run like complete shit on day 1 like GTA 4 but people will still love r* even though they ignore PC and cater to console kids.
I've been telling people PC has been low priority since... forever, probably. Rockstar has never been a PC friendly company, they only chose to launch their careers off of the PC because it had no licensing fees. As soon as they moved on from humble beginnings they've repeatedly snubbed their PC fanbase.
Get used to it
Like Grand Theft Auto IV I guess?
"Oh but GTA IV's port was shit". Yeah, and it was ported solely by R* Toronto, their first PC port on top of that.
Guess what isn't getting ported by R* Toronto? GTA V. Stop comparing them.

Generally I dont get used to shitty practices. I just dont fund them.

Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.
?
They need extra time for testing and making sure its optimized what part of that isn't good enough for you.
Developing for a PC is a lot more work than for a console

It seems to have been shifting a bit it in recent time, though. Which makes the matter a bit more sensitive, Rockstars PC neglect I mean.
Most people were used to it, and at last like to see it slowly change. And during such a time, things like these are extra-outrageous.
I almost don't mind the delay. What I do mind is how close they cut it, and how not 2 weeks ago they said that there were no planned changes to the release date.
What a load of bollocks. An unexpected, game-breaking bug I might let slide, but "polishing"? You'd have known about that for weeks surely. Way to keep us in the dark.
I wonder where that "closing the gap" quote went, it was going really well for Max Payne 3...

"testing and polish" That's what's not good enough for me.
I love reading through patch notes and things like that. What they've said is a bottom of the barrel, just barely hitting the minimum PR statement.

Where do you read anything at all about consolegamers in my posts?
And I've got more things to do than just games in my life as well, but how does that mean I should be fine with a delay? I have enough stuff to do other than gaming, but I very much enjoy gaming and was really looking forward to spending the limited time I have to game playing Grand Theft Auto V. Now I have to wait two more months and that doesn't make me happy at all. It doesn't make me less hyped for the game, but it does make me wonder how badly you can communicate with your customers.

Yeah, but don't tell me that "Rockstar is the only developer that actually finishes their product before releasing it." either then.
