[sp]I bet this is the nuke Killbane was supposed to launch on Steelport in SR3 before THQ shat on the storyline. so you kill him and in the next mission, he is the dead character Shaundi mentions.[/sp]
[sp]I swear I read that it was Cyrus[/sp]

[sp]I think she's supposed to be mentioning Cyrus, because you can hear his voice on the intercom during the first mission, declaring that "[he] should have killed you in Steelport" or something to that effect[/sp]
From the Saint's Row facebook page:
Saints Row IV has gone GOLD!
Now that the game has been finished, Volition will be working on additional mission packs that didn't fit the main game. The first of these is a "Director's Cut" of "Enter the Dominatrix" which will be released some time after release (when it's done!).
This will be a tongue-in-cheek vision of what this content was originally going to be like, before parts of the next Saints Row (which started development before Saints Row: The Third was released) and elements of the original Enter The Dominatrix DLC were merged to form the glorious beast that is Saints Row IV.
A second mission pack will be released late 2013.
Both of these mission packs are collected at a discount in a "Season Pass" for $9.99 / 9.99 euro / £7.99, available from launch onwards. The price of all combined Season Pass content, if purchased separately, will be over $15 / 15 euro / £12.
The Season Pass will also give you the Rectifier weapon as a bonus: an alien anal probe weapon that lets you launch enemies and NPCs across the horizon! It's the only way the Zin will learn to leave Earth alone.
Saints Row IV will be released on August 20 in North America, August 23 elsewhere, on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
Clever. Putting the "Rectifier" weapon into the season pass is a good way to possibly get around the australia/germany "TOO LEWD BAN" thing.
I think you're starting to take this game too seriously
[sp]Also, he's elected president for disarming a giant nuke that was headed for the country[/sp]
I know I'm taking it too seriously!! The story makes no god damn sense. He still shouldn't be elected, maybe get a Nobel Prize, but not being elected president. He's not a political figure.

The thing is, [sp]I think the first mission is supposed to be a transition from super serious to super silly; it starts out with a dreary helicopter ride through a desert as a faceless protagonist against a ex-military tyrant not unlike games like CoD, yet ends with you riding a launched nuke, disarming it, then landing in the white house without it exploding! Obviously this gives Boss the idea to become president, then the game takes you 5 years later where he/she is. It would have been easy for the Saints to convince the public to elect Boss, not impossible.[/sp]
It may not make complete sense, but it makes a little.

Hold on, source?
Yes, but he isn't a political figure. He's just a criminal. It's like saying Tom Hanks could become president because everybody knows who he is.
Forgive me if I'm wrong because I know shit all about American politics, but wasn't Ronald Reagan a hollywood actor before he became president?
Forgive me if I'm wrong because I know shit all about American politics, but wasn't Ronald Reagan a hollywood actor before he became president?
Mistakes were made.
[sp]He was an actor in the 40's but got political in the 50's and 60's. He became governor before president.[/sp]
Forgive me if I'm wrong because I know shit all about American politics, but wasn't Ronald Reagan a hollywood actor before he became president?
Yes, he was once an actor. But The Boss didn't even BECOME political. Unless they explain this in the game, the story makes no sense at all.
tbh if someone's entire political platform was "i disarmed an ICBM while i was riding it into low orbit and saved America, vote for me" they would probably win the election
Yes, he was once an actor. But The Boss didn't even BECOME political. Unless they explain this in the game, the story makes no sense at all.
Who gives a fuck it's Saints Row.
Hold on, source?
it was in one of the gameplay videos posted by people with review demo copies or something.
Hold on, source?
Some guy on Reddit who was one of the testers along with Idolninja. I'll see if I can pull it up.

[sp]Game starts off with narration about The Boss while he's in the suit you see briefly in the trailer while fighting Zinyak. He's sitting like Conan on the Throne.
Narration ends, helicopter flies into the warzone to Long Tall Sally. Like SR3 before it, The Boss is wearing a full body costume that hides his appearance. It looks somewhat like Raiden's, and the soundtrack has a MGS feeling throughout. There's a short fight through the terrorist compound that's mostly cutscenes, and even a Call of Duty: Modern Duty style door breach. Finally the story catches up to Cyrus, who's behind the attack. Short fight, he's thrown into the flames coming from the rocket about to be launched. His hand slowly sinks in while he does a T2 Thumbs Up, and then hits the launch remote. The Boss runs into the next room, jumps onto the rocket like Captain America, and climbs up the side while his homies eulogize him and Aerosmith's Don't Wanna Miss A Thing blares over the soundtrack. He jumps off the rocket, it blows up, Kinzie notes that you're right ove--and then The Boss falls through the roof of the Oval Office and lands perfectly into the desk chair.[/sp]
Obviously the last two sentences of my previous spoiler post were inferred from that, but it isn't too far off.

It's not supposed to make sense.

who the fuck cares
who the fuck cares
I certainly don't.

No one here wants a deep, psychological analysis of how The Boss decided to become president.
Here's a reason- The Boss wanted power, so he became one of the highest positions of power in the world. (S)He doesn't do well with it, as the beginning of Mission 2 shows. So you're right, The Boss didn't become political, get over it and let's probe some anuses.

37 missions? SR3 had 47...
[sp]Although the first good chunk was shit/activity introductions[/sp]

And with loyalty missions added to the total, that'd be 44
SR2 had 37
Seriously? Felt like it had hundreds.
Seriously? Felt like it had hundreds.
Yeah I thought SR2 had way more than 37.
Saints Row: The Third had 29 actual missions if you disregard activity missions
Saints Row: The Third had 29 actual missions if you disregard activity missions
Don't forget that some of those missions were just cutscenes.
Don't forget that some of those missions were just cutscenes.
Yeah, I disregarded those as well, and it makes the mission count much more pitiful that it seems to be.
Seriously? Felt like it had hundreds.
SR2 had 138 instances of activities, not counting Hitman or Chopshop. Plus Ambulance, Tow Truck, Taxi, etc diversions and Ho-ing and Zombie Uprising. Hell it even had Casino games which most people don't even know.
That's probably why it felt so long.
I REALLY hope they don't do the cutscene-mission count bullshit again.
