Don't we all know this by the intro of Saints Row 2?
Nope. You knew he was in a boating accident, that's it. Everything is explained in detail by finding the recordings at the police station, and by playing SR1. [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline]
Never played SR1, but does that mean [sp]the game ends on a depressing note? You're dead, you had nothing to do with it and you can't go back into the open world, but you're dead. Game over, see you in the next game![/sp]
Yes. Though if you sit through the end of the credits [sp]you hear a breath, foreshadowing his survival[/sp] Though the game warns you before starting the cutscene that once you start the mission, you cannot go back and it lets you save one last time.
dex dies in that unreleased money shot game, you play as a sniper (not the boss, not even a saint) who shoots him in the head from across the city hopefully it's not canon, that'd really suck

Yeah, SR1 sounds like it had all sorts of problems; not only does it sound way too serious, but also depressing. The fact it was pretty much a straight up GTA clone makes it sound like a rather disappointing game.
dex dies in that unreleased money shot game, you play as a sniper (not the boss, not even a saint) who shoots him in the head from across the city hopefully it's not canon, that'd really suck
Since it wasn't released, I can assume it wasn't canon. That's how most things go about.
My favorite thing about Saints Row 1 is how pedestrians would jump in front of your car on the street when you're driving fast. Then they'd get hit and fly 1 mile up in the air.
SR2 spoilers: In one of the final missions, [sp]Dane Vogel anonymously sends a flyer about a huge Ultor party on a yacht at sea. Also, looking for (a) co-op partner(s) for SR4. Just add or message me if you're interested. [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline]
why isn't boss's nightmare simulation on a boat
Because the only thing worse than boats for the Boss is no power.
The comments on the Rev3 vid make me mad. (yes that one comment is mine) [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline] I think all the content from the DLCs are returning (except the story ones),but don't quote me on that.
The best advice i was ever given for YouTube was "Don't scroll down." Don't even bother trying to reason with these people. Never post a comment, ever. [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline]
Also, looking for (a) co-op partner(s) for SR4.
sr1 was pretty awesome at the time considering that a. it was the first free roaming crime game on a next gen console b. character creation/customization was amazing and c. ragdolls

My favorite thing about Saints Row 1 is how pedestrians would jump in front of your car on the street when you're driving fast. [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline]
why isn't boss's nightmare simulation on a boat
Because he isn't scared of boats, he's pissed off he almost died in one. Big difference.
The story in SR2 isn't as amazing as everyone says it is. It's good in that it's driven by strong characters, not because it has an amazing and deep story.
The story in SR2 isn't as amazing as everyone says it is. I think that the SR2 campaign is fucking brilliant, it somewhat immersed me so much in an unexpected way. The characters were really cool, aswell as the dialogues. Furthermore the cutscences were amazing and really funny. Missions were pretty good and sometimes just so crazy. Still the story included some sad and serious parts and some funny ones. I really like the fact that you control a gang that tries to get back on the streets instead of a character like GTA where you are between factions and constantly working for other people.
Not saying it was bad though, I finished it a few weeks ago and I loved it [sp]up to the ultor part[/sp] Muh automerge
No it was free if memory serves.

Also, was the Station from 3 prepurchase only? [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline] Mmmmmmmmerge
It was for prepurchases of SR3 and then you could get "demo keys" for Saints Row initiation station.
So I'm assuming the Inauguration Station will come out in a few days? They avoided talking about it in the streams, and with the steam ids showing up, it might be in a few days. Or on the fourth, like I've been saying. I'm still hopeful for that.

I really like the fact that you control a gang that tries to get back on the streets instead of a character like GTA where you are between factions and constantly working for other people.
My problem with SR1 and 2's story is that, if it weren't for the characters, they'd be very generic. Let's look at SR1: Each gang had it's own storyline which consisted of hurting the gang's source of money, then taking out the leaders. For the Rollerz and Carnales, you basically destroyed their cars and drugs, then took out their leaders. The Vice Kings was a nice twist where they killed themselves from the inside, with King being overthrown by Williams and Tanya. Either way, it was pretty generic. Characters weren't too memorable with the exception of the Vice Kings members. Now Saints Row 2: A broad definition for the games story is essentially getting back what is rightfully yours. Again, you have the three separate storylines per gang, plus the Ultor storyline which makes four. The premise of eliminating the gangs this time around is essentially the same, however Volition created the illusion of a better story through a very strong and interesting line of characters. For example, I cannot name many leaders from SR1 gangs. However, in SR2, I remember them all. The General and Mr. Sunshine, Veteran Child, Akuji, Maero, Jessica, Matt, Dane. Each character had amazingly different personalities and were all memorable, even if you cannot recall their names. The cutscenes were both action packed and dramatic. From Carlos's death to Aisha's funeral and the Ultor attack on Club Koi, all cutscenes offered a lot of meat. Included with the cast of characters were the new lieutenants: Pierce and Shaundi, both of which had greatly different personalities. And of course, you had Johnny Gat and Mr. Wong, Tobias, Legal Lee, and Troy. While the later three are all minor characters, they add so much to the game, especially Mr. Wong in the Ronin storyline. The thing about Saints Row is the not so obvious storyline. For example, you have the history of Stilwater. Los Carnales being the first gang to rise up with their drug cartel and dealing. Ben King and Julius Little coming from a shitty little neighborhood, to gather his friends and followers to create a gang to stop the Carnales from terrorizing the whole city. The Vice Kings were then born. Obviously, nobody really cared about the Rollerz but they came along and did some shit. However, once Julius noticed the terror all the gangs were bringing about in Stilwater, he decided to move to Saints Row to form the Third Street Saints. In fact, the reason the Saints were created was to stop gang violence in Stilwater, which was ultimately achieved at the end of all the Saints Row games by having the Saints take over all of the city, which led to an end to gang wars and rivalries. However, at the end of Saints Row, Troy has Julius arrested and wants him to have the Boss and Gat to drop their flags. At this point, Dex had already left to "go straight" and join Ultor. Instead, Julius rigs the yacht the Boss was on to explode. At this point, the only one left in the Saints was Gat. Gat sought revenge on Troy, but was ultimately put in jail hence why he was being tried in the beginning of Saints Row 2. For some reason however, Troy kept the Boss on life support and had Johnny protected while in prison, so obviously Troy doesn't want to hurt his friends. In fact, he never wanted to arrest anyone, and gets very mad when he heard that Julius tried to kill the boss. So the fact that there is all this behind the scenes story really adds so much to the series. The reason why I think Saints Row 2 is superior storywise isn't because of what is directly told to the player, but is the stuff that is left for the player to find and interpret for themselves. This is what was lacking in 3. Volition put all of the history behind and made the Saints something else. All history was thrown out the door for sake of allowing new players to hop in. The story for Saints Row 3 was better than the one (well, four) presented in SR2. However, many things prevented it from being so. For example, the characters were not interesting in the slightest. There were three enemy leaders: Killbane, Loren, and Miller. Of the three, you only really canonically kill one and it was so anti-climatic that you could argue that you never really killed him. There was no history for the Syndicate. There was no reason why they were actually there. Where did they come from? What is Loren's history? Miller? Killbane? Nothing about any of these characters were explained. I mean, in Saints Row 2 you know that Mr. Wong hates Kajiu Akuji (I think that's his name) for killing his dog. There's personal hatred even within other characters in Saints Row 2. In 3, there's no connection with any of the characters. So my opinion is this: Saints Row 1 had a very bland story. Saints Row 2 expanded and explained many things with the history of Stilwater and the original gangs. It also created an amazing cast, which could arguably be in a "Top 10 Character Cast" list. However, deep inside, SR2's story is just as bland as the first if you take away all of the interesting characters. The inclusion of the Ultor storyline was a great addition and I'm glad they included it. However what really struck home was the depth of the history of everything: the gangs, the city, the characters and everything. Everyone and everything was expanded and touched upon and added so much that I'm sitting here typing all this shit that I doubt anyone will read. Saints Row 3 had a good story, but was butchered by the lack of any interesting characters whatsoever. Oleg had so much potential to be a good character, but Volition didn't give him much time on screen. Angel was completely fucked up the ass and was a plain boring, uninteresting character. The Syndicate was a completely unrelated organization that came out of nowhere and apparently only exists in Steelport despite being "multi-national". There is no history with any of the characters. No humble beginnings like the Vice Kings, no invasion of drugs and terror like the Carnales. Nothing. The only reason they exist it seems would be to serve as target practice for the Saints. There isn't any explanation as to why they exist, which really, really drug things down. Hopefully SR4 will expand upon many things, though I doubt they will. Nonetheless, I'm sure it'll have a great interior story within itself.

I agree with you Badger, SR2 had some great characters which were all memorable. I still giggle when there's a joke about Shaundi fucking exes that provide useful information, especially when Pierce does them because he feels neglected in the whole line of command of the Saints. I liked how the Samedi missions were essentialy overthetop and funny andthe Ronin storyline had a more serious tone. Also the british voice that you can pick is fucking amazing, it's such a great voice actor. I can't get enough of it.
Also, I want fucking Darius Masters back DJing the Mix radio station. I want my "Best hits of the 80s, without the legwarmers". Seriously the DJ's on the radios are so damn boring in SR3. The DJ for the Mix in SR3 sounds like a monotonous pussy.
Didn't I say it will be out on the 4th of August, being the new 4th of July?
Probably. Actually, I've agreed with it since someone said that. However, I was probably the only one who compared the distance between the Initiation Station and SR3, and then applying that time to SR4 (it was funny how it turned out to be the fourth as well) [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline]
*words*
Damn, nice job dude. This is pretty much the reason why SR2 is still assumed to be the better game despite a lot to the converse.

All things considered all the cutscences are fucking epic.
All things considered I've always wondered if Village People YMCA was ever considered for The Mix. Would prefer it over the 90s shit they seem to prefer.
Wait, a question (the first spoiler is on the YT stream, the second on the Gamespot); having never played SR2, [sp]Why is Pierce the one to lead the charge on Maero in SR4? Is it because Zinyak resurrected him for The Boss to be killed by? Because from what I'm reading on the wiki, Pierce wasn't really involved with Maero.[/sp] [sp]Maybe I missed something in that video, but still I'm confused; Matt's loyalty mission is him showing off his training mission slash Nyte Blade fanfic which ends with Zinyak changing it to fit his own means. Shouldn't that mean each loyalty mission is more or less connected with the character?[/sp]

I really hope SR4 has better radio stations. SR3's radio stations were abominable, bland and rubbish. SR2's radio stations were great.
sr4 has better DJs; jane valderama is the DJ for K12 and reports on things such as "what is dubstep", zinyak is the DJ for the classical station and reads jane austen and whatnot, RiFF RaFF is a DJ for a mad decent station also, the music is better; it has What is Love and the Safety Dance [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline] it's safe to assume that the radio in SRIV will be so much better than in SRTT
