i liked stilwater way better because there was actual places you can remember and it wasn't horrible and same-ey. i mean, it's based off of pittsburgh so no surprise there :V try to remember one landmark in steelport. steelport statue, and the saints tower, power plant, and the zombie town are the only things that come to mind. most of the city looks goddamn identical, only difference in building types is the tall building district, and not tall building districts. they could have at least made the rich districts more shiny and new, and the poor districts all disgusting and gross. everything's brown, black, and grey, and some weird brown-red shade of garbage city. now, think stilwater. there's so much shit you can remember. the mall, the caves, the suburbs, the airport, the rich districts, the college campus, the stadiums (which actually serve a purpose outside of a single mission you can't replay), the shitty ghetto, the various bars you can visit, the rich area near the ultor building, the docks near the brotherhood's place, etc. if you were to throw me on a random street in stilwater without the map, i'd probably know where i am right away. if you did the same for me in steelport, i wouldn't really know unless i was in the tall building island.
There's a place with not-tall-buildings? :supaburn:
try to remember one landmark in steelport.
I remember waiting the whole game for the level when you go to this building and it never came
Totally man. Falling through the sky in a tank, zombie infections, giant Russian muscleman clones, use of high grade military weapons, destroying skyscraper buildings, running through courses murdering people on a TV show, Gothic Tron hacker gangs, Mexican wrestlers gang, driving around on a flaming ATV blowing up things you crash into, giant starships and high-tec military laser tanks/jets. That's all mundane, every day shit right?
It's pretty uninspired and boring, and it's not all that that it makes itself up to be. Giant brutes are pretty standard farce in anything ever. Military weapons are military weapons, that's also pretty standard. It's a game, of course I'm going to be able to destroy stuff. Genki was super boring and just a target practice course with moving targets, the whole Japanese parody aspect of it was poorly executed as well, but the commentators were nice at times. Mexican wrestlers or not they still act like every other enemy you meet in games, the hi-tech laser stuff was incredibly boring to use it had no impact to it and it doesn't act any different from any other weapon either. The TRON city was a neat idea, but could have gone way further and the start scene with the airplane was definitely nice, setting people on fire with a dance is funny, but that's the only parts that I would really compliment SR3 for when it comes to it's ideas. They've just stuffed a lot of "lol random" things in the game and things that anyone would suggest for a "wacky" game. SR4's dubstep gun and inflate gun is more of what I'm looking for, whilst the concept of a dubstep gun is not new it hasn't been put into a game yet as far as I know and it acts differently from any other gun in the game, the inflate gun is also a gun that acts in a different way from the rest of your typical weapons and it takes it the step further where it actually tries to be funny and make something more unrealistic, rather than realistic but unlikely/crazy. I just feel that people get too attached to the idea that anything that isn't something you personally can do in real life is over the top and should be accompanied by epic lulz, lots of attention and be completely unarguable because "it's a fucking shark with a lazer on it's head, end of argument". I greatly dislike that attitude towards anything that remotely steers into the territory of over-the-topness. Now then, don't get me wrong, as I stated before I fucking loved the shit out of SR3 and by no means do I think it's a bad game, nor do I think the possibilities the game serves are bad, it has a lot of things you can have tons of fun with. I just don't really find it to be over-the-top at all, it's just more flexible than other games.
I personally found Saints Row 3 to be a disappointment over time, I nowhere near came close to the time I played Saints Row 2 for, or even 1, it got boring.
Sounds like I have to play Saints row 2 some time; I only played 3 since it came in the THQ humble bundle.
Sounds like I have to play Saints row 2 some time; I only played 3 since it came in the THQ humble bundle.
you will not regret it
He will if he plays it on PC though, even with mods I found it unplayable.
He will if he plays it on PC though, even with mods I found it unplayable.
Pretty much my experience with it. I had a time where it was quite playable though, but after a couple of missions the game just never got any fun, so it seems like it has quite the slow start as well which just kills it for me.
Gentlemen of the Row mod fixes just about all the issues with SR2 and adds some extra stuff to the game.
Gentlemen of the Row mod fixes just about all the issues with SR2 and adds some extra stuff to the game.
Understatement, it adds like 100/150 new clothing items and shitload of weapons.
Have there been any theories to who that was in the end of Meet the President? Benjamin King appears in the trailer.
FL1PPY is like the trial by fire right now.
[sp]Leaked Achievements show an achievement for playing with SR1 homies.[/sp] Will Saints Row 1 have a connection to SRIV? Is that dude who says, "Hello Mr. President," an old baddie from the first Saints Row? :O
As long as we get revenge on Dex I'm a happy man.
As long as we get revenge on Dex I'm a happy man.
Why did they make him the dick character in Saints Row 2? He was pretty cool in the first game. Even Troy became your homie in SR2. Fuck you, Troy. No one likes you.
Now that I think about it, the dubstep cannon is actually balanced in terms of its power. You can kill a LOT of people with it in a radius. But the downside is you will probably kill yourself.
Is that dude who says, "Hello Mr. President," an old baddie from the first Saints Row? :O
It's the leader of the Xin
Cant be considering they're[sp] all kind of dead.[/sp]
Julius and Gat. Troy is still alive (he's mentioned briefly in the opening of 3) and Dex is assumed alive, after running away to a new city (possibly Steelport) from the boss in Stilwater.

Okay, Dex seems like he could.
Cant be considering they're[sp] all kind of dead.[/sp]
[sp]Saints Row had a "dump everything ending" because they didn't know if they were getting funding for a sequel. The protagonist was the only survivor of that vicious betrayal. Despite how serious Saints Row was, the selling point was the hilariously glitchy gameplay. It ruined the tone the game but, hey, it was great.[/sp] Most of the people here believe that Volition has dumped a lot of great stuff they expanded upon in Saints Row 2. Sure, the change in direction is pretty shit, but maybe they'll give us closure with this whole virtual reality crap. They expanded upon SR2 from SR1 well enough, so maybe they can do it from SR3 to SR4. The superpowers actually look like a lot of fun. Creating your own character and being a god damn President Anti-Hero? Hell fucking yes! Closure for Gat and fixed customization would make me buy it in a heartbeat.
The only reason stuff from SR2 werent in 3 was because most of the development time was spent on the engine.
The only reason stuff from SR2 werent in 3 was because most of the development time was spent on the engine.
I think that's what happened with SR1 to SR2 but with the story and extra content. Hopefully it's the same story here.
Maybe Dex was secretly an alien warlord all this time, and after The Boss becomes president he goes angsty and calls all his alien war friends to protect him. I just want to conclude the whole fucking Dex thing goddamnit you can't leave it on a cliffhanger and then just ignore it.

Dex probably fled again, pulled a Breen, and became Earth's Administrator for an evil Alien race. Hey, if you're going to make a Matrix with aliens parody you might as well do Half-Life.

Hell, in the trailer we've got Ben King and that's more of a throwback than we've had since the SR2 dlcs.

Hell I hope all the OGs do. Saints 4 lyfe [sp]And ACTUAL closure for Gat that wasn't TwC.[/sp]
My biggest problem with SR3 is how lifeless and flat the city felt, which ruined the satisfaction in fukcing about. The citizen models being so recognizable didn't help much.

There was nice areas but it was pretty much ghetto, financial, suburbia, etc. They expanded upon it in SR2 really well. Hopefully they expanded SR3's map a lot.
I hope Oleg & Zimos will be in SR4. They're cool.

My character in the first two was a black guy with dreads, and they really felt like a defining feature of him. When it came to The Third they weren't an option, along with the other stuff he wore.
You know what actually pissed me off about SRIII? There are potentially cool set-pieces that we never get to see. Remember that "Designer Gun Store"? How we go into a warehouse and never actually inside. What a waste, imagine going through a level having to constantly use unique variants of weapons
