Saints Row IV - From the Crack House to the White House
Nah, they gave it full stars, which implies perfection as it is the highest rating attainable. Also you can use the word shit here. It just goes to show how ridiculous numerical rating systems are.
Full stars does not imply perfection, nothing in the world ever is perfect, what would be the point of even having a top score if you couldn't use it for anything ever?
And if I were to reply to that, this argument would go in circles and circles ad infintum and shit up the thread so I'm just gonna stop it now.
That's probably a good plan.

Volition is also streaming Saints Row 1 and discussing developing the games

Cool, they confirmed new singalong in SR4.
So does [sp]the earth actually blow up[/sp] early on?
(potentially hueg spoilerz)
So does [sp]the earth actually blow up[/sp] early on?
I don't think any of us are supposed to know about that scene so it's up to us to find out when we play it.

Oh, I thought the game was out considering all of the reviews and such, my bad.

Is it just me or does SR1 look SIGNIFICANTLY better visually than SR2 does?
I just bought this to do co-op with my friend. I'm almost certain it won't, but I sure as shit hope it doesn't flop/feel like a watered down (having fewer clothing options than SR3 is what worries me) version of SR3.
Is it just me or does SR1 look SIGNIFICANTLY better visually than SR2 does?
It definitely doesn't have as many polygons or extra details like its successors but it had some really nice color choices and smoothness.
Stilwater confirmed. Don't know if this is late or not.

Wait for saints row 4?
Like confirmed confirmed or "saints row 3 type " confirmed?
Is it just me or does SR1 look SIGNIFICANTLY better visually than SR2 does?
SR1 looks better than SR2 because it uses vibrant colors.

I think it's only showcased in small bits.
God I hope the Pimp Cane makes a return in SRIV

Yeah Stilwater only shows up in certain segments of SR4. That's what Volition said up on the livestream. Can't wait to see how those areas look in SR4, since I remember every single area in Stilwater
I've been watching a lot of video and first impressions, and frankly...
This game's not looking good.
I've never been a fan of the whole superpowers and simulation, and presidency crap, but I was willing to give it a try- give the game the benefit of the doubt. But none of the game seems coherent- and not in a clever way. Like, why is the even the option to drive cars? never mind all of the customization they have to offer? You can run at the speed of sound, jump over skyscrapers, FUCKING FLY, why should I care about having a cool car anymore when its horribly inconvenient? Why have the power to call in homies and other saints? They don't have superpowers. I can punch people across the city, I have guns that can make black holes, why the fuck do I need some powerless NPCs with pea shooters backing me up?
And then the simulation, you know I thought it was going to be a small part of the game, like a place you could go to at any time but wasn't the main focus of the game. Instead its the only part of the game and you know what? If the whole world's fake, I don't even care about it. And if the [sp]Earth really DOES blow up[/sp] I'm gonna give even less of a shit. Why would I care about some bullshit simulation if [sp]THE EARTH IS FUCKING BLOWN UP[/sp]?
It just feels like the game doesn't know what the fuck it wants to be. It wants to be a superpower game but it has all of the features of a normal sandbox game which all end up being pointless when you have superpowers. Its trying to be two games at once and none of the features work well together.
It looks silly, and you know what? that could've been enough for me. I've seen some scenes that have made me laugh. But the gameplay looks sooooo ass backwards that I don't think some witty writing will be enough to save it. The story looks fun, but nothing else about it does to me.
Its just very disappointing. I wanted to like this game and if it had some of these problems fixed, I probably would. It just seems so boring.

Well, someone watched the TB video
Well, someone watched the TB video
Among others, yes.
I fail to see how that makes the point any less valid. Anyone that can deny those issues is blind. So don't pull that "TB VIDEO LOLXD" bullshit.
All the videos, first looks, gameplay impressions, etc. that I've seen have shown off that the game has no idea what it wants to be. I didn't need to hear TB say it to see that.
And its not like he mentioned any problems with the simulation crap, which if I am being honest is the biggest problem I have with the game. I don't see any reason to care about my actions when its all happening in some bullshit virtual world. [sp]Earth blowing up[/sp] is my biggest turn off right now.

Would you rather have no choice between how you want to play, just one thing or the other? It's not really two things not working together, it's a matter of preference. The gameplay is basically The Third's but with more features so I don't know what you're on about. There's a shitload of new content so where's the boring? As the image earlier in the thread told us, (spoilers?) [sp]9 out of 19 homies can gain superpowers.[/sp]
As the image earlier in the thread told us, (spoilers?) [sp]9 out of 19 homies can gain superpowers.[/sp]
Well, good. I'm actually happy to hear that.
I'll make it clear I posted that "rant" to see if people here could tell me anything to sort of ease those concerns. I know I'm not going to change your minds on the game with a single post. I'm just giving my position on what I've seen.
I know that Ill need to play it to find out if the jarring differences between superpower gameplay and standard SR gameplay are enough to hurt the experience. i'm just saying that I don't like the way its shaping up. I wouldn't doubt I'll be proven wrong though. I didn't think SR3 was going to be fun based on the gameplay I saw pre-release and I was pleasantly suprised.

[sp]According to IdolNinja's review, there are cheat codes to remove aliens and replace them with gang members, disable all those simulation visual effects, and disable superpowers. Essentially make it like the earlier games[/sp]

That may be enough to secure a purchase.
[sp]Also the evil car & ped riot cheats[/sp]

Jaros flipping out over the no checkpoints in SR1 is pretty funny :v:
god fucking damn it guys, half the thread is unreadable because everyone posts spoilers everywhere
So the guys on the stream said that layering is actually supported in SR3. Maybe the modders can work their magic with that bit of info.
Ped War cheat? w-w-w-with SUPERPOWERS?!
Volition, please accept all of my money.
By the way, if anyone wants decent video walkthroughs, media cow on youtube are doing a co-op walkthrough and are actually bearable to watch. They are also pretty far into the game.
