I'm so relieved, i was totally expecting SRIV to be as mediocre and boring as Saints Row 3. Definitely buying this, at least to kill time while waiting for GTA V.

In the trailer it almost looked like they were in that bar the Masakos first show up in. Maybe the simulation takes us through key events of the previous games? Also, if Ultor is in it and it's further into the future, maybe we'll meet Colonel Masako herself. She'd make a cool ally.

I'm really glad this trailer came out. It at least showed off a lot of what the fans were asking for, and detailing more of the story. I'm much more hyped for SR4 thanks to that.

Well, Ultor is owned by the Saints in the third game. You'd think if they owned an organization that would one day be the largest industry on fucking Mars then Dex would be a cinch to find. What, did they just say fuck it and give up? Even Johnny mentioned how the Saints sold out with an interesting euphemism. At this point, it is absolutely necessary they give closure to Dex and Gat. It'd be beyond stupid not to even with all this alien shit going on.
The scene with SRTT Shaundi popping out of SR2 Shaundi's body looks like the game may involve time travelling (or something of the sort). Call me crazy, but this looks like the club from SR2 [sp]where you kill Veteran Child.[/sp]

Gat joining the Syndicate wouldn't make sense. Johnny is/was the boss's right hand man. They are the best fucking friends ever. If he joined the Syndicate that would have been completely out of character. Can't go from loyal soldier/friend to complete dick. Volition would have probably gotten more shit for that if they kept that draft if you think about it.

Gat is a gangster, through and through. The Boss sold out, got soft, became essentially a mascot, and took the rest of the Saints in that direction. It makes total sense for him to cut ties with the Saints. There could even be some inner conflict about his decision to do so.
The entire original draft of SR3 was objectively better and darker ala some of SR2's moments, but volition thought it was going too far in the wrong direction so they thought the next best thing was to go too far in the opposite direction instead.
