Nah it used death animations for in-vehicle deaths sadly. My level of hype for SR4 being like the jump from SR1 to SR2 is probably gonna leave me disappointed. Still can't wait for Idolninja's thoughts on the game though. Also all these SR2 screens are making me wanna go buy SR2 on the PC and play the shit outta it.
