I was looking around at the saints row website and noticed they've hardly even updated it for SR4, seems a bit silly with the release just around the corner.
I did however find this screenshot

I like that pixeled spark rain

It looks like a PS2 model honestly.
It's good to see the hype train for this game increasing. One thing that disappointed me with The Third was the outfit selection, there was plenty that I wanted my character to wear so I ended up sticking with some Electro DJ outfit minus the hat and glasses on the basis it sucked the least. I stuck with it for the whole game because nothing better appeared.
I hope we unlock more outfits as the game progresses this time around, I can already see my Boss in the president suit and superhero outfit. Are you able to comment on any of that Idol? Or even if dreadlocks are returning?
I hope this game has a real new game +.
I can't help but feel nothing is too ridiculous for the Saints to tackle. Saints Row 5, conquer the Universe? 6, conquer the Multiverse? 7, Heaven and Hell? 8, Go back in time and conquer them because VELOCIRAPTOR MOBSTERS?

I do as well. Keep all the levels, but scale the enemies the fuck up!
I'd play it again for that.
I hope this game has a real new game +.
I don't really see how a game like this would benefit from having a New Game+ option, you get buy upgrades and stuff sure but if you started a new game with everything there wouldn't really be much to do, there's no levelling system like the way for example Borderlands is, where you get levelled enemies that match your own level, in this game it's just, go through the game and get harder enemies as you progress.

Well, that leak from 4chan was proven true with this trailer. It mentioned how they have figured out how to do the mission replays on the CTG Engine. IMO that's better than New Game +.
Any word if there's gonna be a SR4 Initiation Station before release, like with SR3?

Yes, already confirmed.
For some reason SR3 runs fine (or at least pretty well) on my computer, but the Initiation Station doesn't work (the character is just a flat black silhouette). Hopefully they fix that up for the new one.
Any kind of replayability is important to me. I want to see my character in cutscenes with my outfits that I couldn't buy at the start of the game, and use equipment that wasn't accessible. That was why I played so much SR3 multiplayer, so I could see my character in cutscenes.

Well you can do that with replayable missions too.

It's not a matter of figuring out how to do it. Replaying missions is easy. We proved that by implementing it into SRTT within a few weeks of release. The real issue is that replays introduce a fuck ton of unexpected mission bugs mostly having to do with world states and unexpected weapon upgrade states. It took almost a full year of work from us to get the replay mod actually working correctly (mostly.)

Out of curiosity, can you tell us whether or not the Saints actually drive around in the streets in this game? It was weird how in SRTT there were never any Saints driving on the road. And if they did show up they showed up in non-customized cars and they weren't even the right vehicles that you chose. It irked me so bad in SRTT.

I don't suppose they've fixed that in SR4? I know there was that 4chan guy or whatever, but honestly I'd trust you more.

It really bugged me too, and I wish I had thought to check that. I ended up spending so much time in the air and on rooftops, that I wasn't really paying much attention to see if it was corrected.

Going to have to wait for the article on that one.

Well, you have contact with the SR devs right? I don't think they are aware that bug existed. Maybe tell them? :3

Dammit, T-Sonar.0. I'm a modder not a miracle worker.

Or are you a miracle modder?
Or maybe you are a miracle.
I am floored. I am excited. I am ecstatic. I have had to pinch myself repeatedly and reread emails to prove they were actually real and not some kind of crazy fever dream. I even danced. I have desperately been trying to somehow contain my unbridled joy that this is actually happening, and am finally able to share it with you all today.
"But Idol," you are probably asking yourself, "what in the holy granola are you flipping the fuck out about? Tell us, already!"
Jeff Thompson, the Studio Director of Programming at Volition, is putting together a package for us containing documentation, file formats, tools, and more on the Saints Row: The Third engine. Myself, Minimaul, and gibbed will be working closely with Jeff over the coming months to use this information to create a robust set of modding tools to supplement our existing ones and creating what is essentially a full sdk for the game! But, that's not all! Saints Row: The Third is only the beginning! Jeff has confirmed that he will also be digging up all the Saints Row 2 info that he can so we can do the same for it as well, and that this undertaking is actually a "test run" for Saints Row IV.
So, what does this actually mean to the average Saints Row player? In simple terms, the modding community will finally be able to create and offer new clothing, new vehicles, new guns, new npcs, new missions, and even new world geometry which will greatly extend the life of the series and enhance the Saints Row games in ways we never even dared to dream of.
You are probably asking yourself right now, just how the fuck we managed to pull this one off. The answer to that is actually quite simple. I asked. While I was in LA playing Saints Row IV, I took the opportunity to lay out a modding proposal to the Volition guys. The proposal itself was quite modest and simply requested a technical email contact at Volition to whom we could pose a question or two about file formats once a month or so. This contact could then use that month to find an answer for us along with his actual job duties. All I really hoped for was the tiniest little nudge in the right direction with some of the file formats that have had us stumped for years now. I talked about how our forum has 36,000+ registered members with thousands of unique hits a day. About how we are staunchly anti-piracy and have been dedicated to keeping Volition's best interests at heart despite their uninvolvement. Lastly, I mentioned how Koch Media and Deep Silver have a reputation in the industry for being fan-centric, and how working together would show just how different they are from the previous regime's policies that forbade Volition developers from interacting with the fans at all.
The Volition guys in LA all loved the idea, so I drafted up an official proposal document on my return which laid everything out and sent it off to Alex Mejia and Steve Jaros. They both warned me at the time that nothing was likely going to happen for at least a couple of months due to how insanely busy things were with the finalization and launch of Saints Row IV. Much to my surprise (and Alex and Steve's,) Jeff Thompson replied promptly with the amazing offer detailed above and gave the go ahead to bring in Minimaul and gibbed into the proceedings. I then created a community modding wishlist thread that Jeff has been monitoring to see the kind of things the rest of the community is hoping for as well.
http://www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/index.php?threads/community-modding-wishlist.2514
And that, as they say, is that. I am eagerly looking forward to getting things started and Jeff has told us that we can expect something from him this very week. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank Volition and Deep Silver from the bottom of my heart for giving the Saints Row modding community this amazing opportunity. Some of the ideas we have in store are going to blow people's minds, and the open world crime genre will never be the same.
aww shit
Some well-made mods could bring in more players, so that's really great.
Too bad SR1 isn't on PC, it's not that interesting to play SR2 without knowing what happened before.
Awwyeah, now I can run around in anime shirts and stuff.
fuck yeah.

If I wasn't hyped before, I'm hyped now.
[editline]10th June 2013[/editline]
My hype has reached levels previously unknown to science.
Holy fuck they can add in all the things that made Saints Row 2 so great, maybe more activity's and stuff, and hopefully brighten the game up a bit.

Idol - does this also mean custom radio stations?

So is this that news you were saying made SR4 really good? Or are you still to reveal other stuff?

So... maybe you're actually a miracle worker.
Man, IdolNinja started off just making a mod for a busted game, ended up becoming the face of the modding community and now is working alongside developers for a big project.
You're going places man.

SR4 article releases tomorrow and is completely separate from today's announce. My SR4 excitement was its own thing and not related to modding.
