Saints Row IV - From the Crack House to the White House

One of the things I disliked about the activities in SR3 is that they weren't fun like they were in 2 and 1 because the activities were forced on you. They didn't give you the freedom to choose an activity. Instead, they integrated it with the story which sucked a fat one. I dread going through the game now because I have to get through all those shitty activities. Not to mention fun ones like Fight Club, Fuzz, and Septic Avenger weren't in there. The activities in 2 and 1 also had a nice little cutscene accompanying them and a new character introduced. In 3, activities were a burden. I'm glad they cut it down to only 3 activity levels instead of 7. I could easily do 7 in 2 and 1. I could barely do a single one in 3.
Also, I just now realized after watching some SR1 clips that the speech Julius gives is almost exactly parallel to the one the Boss gives in 2. They say almost the exact same thing, and when the second person is given their gang (Troy - Vice Kings, Shaundi - Sons of Samedi), they both complain and both bosses say, "Fuck you say?"
It's kind of cool how the writers thought of things like that.
Sucks that I could never really appreciate all the refferences to SR1, because it was Xbox exclusive I never got it.
Well fuck, the game comes out quite exactly around the time summer holidays end for me.

that's most likely intentional
It's pretty much a tradition to release the big AAA budget games either right after summer holidays or right before december.
After summer because less people will beat it in a day and immediately return it due to having less free time, and before december so it's right in time for christmas.
Yesterday i got SR2 off of PSN.
Woot, i barely remember it so hoorah.

I thought it was cool that they gave away SR2 PSN copy with every disc copy of SR3.
In a way it was wasted since everyone who bought Saints Row 3 had played Saints Row 2, though I guess it's nice to be able to play it without swapping discs and shit.

Uh... Far from it?
Saints Row 3 has brough in a completley new audience for the game, and a much bigger one. You seldomly come across games with sequels that doesn't get a bigger amount of buyers to begin with because people that enjoyed the previous one will tell others about the new one.
Saints Row 3 was my first Saints Row experience, it made me try out Saints Row 2, but because of very obvious porting problems with the game and the slowest and most boring fucking start of a game known to mankind I never got around to playing it past a mission or two.

I couldn't have summed it up better.
I wish I could find a Saints Row 1 playthrough on youtube without some mouthbreather talking over it

I need to get the Saints Row double package for Xbox.
I want to play through Saints Row 1 again and my SR2 disk is so destroyed from abuse and overuse.
If there is any game that has been in my Xbox's disc tray longest, it has been SR2. And it shows.

For some reason I don't remember that opening cutscene at all.
I still have the SR1 demo disc. :v:

I remember using an animation glitch to get out of the demo confines of the XBL demo. Hard to believe that was back in early 2006.

drive to the red boundary in a car, park close enough where you can still get out but not break the animation, and boom you're in.
I remember that you could glitch into Vice Kings territory, when you'd normal not be able to see them in the demo.
And of course, the AK47 you could get, not available in the demo. Good times.
The one thing that really irks me about the naysayers of Saints Row IV is that most of them don't even try to research the game and simply write it off as DLC packaged as a new game.
Idol, no idea how much you know about netcode n shit, but do you think it would be possible for someone to mod sr4 to have more than two people in co-op? Like I can understand that they limited it to 2 for the story mission balance, but free roam would be more hilarious the more people there is :v:

They did it with JC2, they could probably do it with SR4. Especially once those modding tools came out.

It was DLC when they made the early trailers.
It was DLC when they made the early trailers.
No it wasn't. There were several scenes showing the White House, but they were like 10% of the footage.
They said they decided to make a sequel using some of the ideas they considered when making Enter the Dominatrix months before they showed the first teaser trailer
God, I hope Shaundi's change in attitude was mostly THQ's fault, and will be sorted out in IV.
"Here we have this character who's pretty cool, but higher than the moon. Let's clean her up, and reveal that she's a cunt casserole when sober." Lovely.

You wanna know what I miss?
Pretty much everything from SR2.
