as someone who has played through sr1 two times, you're better off just watching a let's play of it.
I disagree. SR1 is worth at least one solid play through.
i bought sr3 on a whim at release and played it a bunch and enjoy it. i just completed my first playthrough of sr2. if i had an xbox id play the first one but alas i'll have to go without

[sp]shitty pc port aside, i think i like it better than sr3[/sp]
Check the LP Archive and just watch the LP of SR1 that's there, yeah. It's not a bad game by any means, and the cutscenes kick ass, but it's just painful to play at times if you played SR2 before.

good. sr2 is a paragon in all saints row related matters.
So are there anymore essential mods for SR2 other than GoTR and Powertools?
[editline]28th June 2013[/editline]
Possibly anything that fixes my game crashing every time I try to do an activity. Christ, I'd heard the port was bad, I didn't realise just how bad.

There are a couple of people still doing minor stuff, but it's nothing involving stability or bugfixes. As it currently stands, GotR is going to give you the most robust experience, which isn't saying much considering how buggy the game still is.

Its weird. Not being able to do any activities is the only real glitch I have, other than that, it runs pretty smoothly.

Have you tried deleting your profile.dat and/or running windowed? Also, are you running the Steam version of the game? That's the only way to be fully patched to 1.2 and be 100% compatible with GotR.

...Is that a fucking health pickup I see on the floor around 8:00 ...? Man, fuck that shit.

i'd rather have med pickups than regen health
i'd rather have med pickups than regen health
regen health has always been a thing in saints row. heck, it's even in this one. honestly i'd just have the burgers/blunts/40oz back.
I can't remember if it was said or not, is the Female Russian voice still in?
I can't remember if it was said or not, is the Female Russian voice still in?
Unfortunately, no.
I can't remember if it was said or not, is the Female Russian voice still in?
The voice actress isn't back, we don't know if they hired another Russian or not.

regen is fucking boring because you just duck behind a corner and bam all your health back, just like cod
theres no risk/reward in that, with no regen, you're forced to play aggressively if you want to live

In the E3 demo the character regens health just as in all SR games. Apart from having that, there's ALSO those health pickups.
[editline]28th June 2013[/editline]
also i never said regen wasn't boring, i hate it, that's why i said i'd rather have the food system back, but with no regen.
"where's a septic truck when you need one"
jokes

I'm running the retail version, but running it windowed for the introductory cutscene for the activities lets it work fine, thanks for that.
yknow i don't even want that much health regen
i'd rather just have cheeseburgers and sodas and shit

I just hope that means that minigame will come back, because holy fuck that was fun.

It might just be something for the introductory missions then. Once you get to Virtual Steelport there is definitely no health regen. It's something I talked with Steve Jaros about at length when I played SR4 in LA.
So I'm playing SR2 on PC again (which to my surprise runs without any issues on Windows 8) and I gotta say that the vehicle handling isn't as bad as I remembered it being.
Only weird thing though is that I immediately fly into the air if I as much as lean back an inch on any motorcycle.
Also, any date on mod tools?

I hope that laser sword has a red coloured skin, that way I can play as a Sith Lord

No ETA on SR2 tools. They will come after the SDK for SRTT is released. We've been working on the SRTT SDK non-stop with Volition for the past couple of weeks. No ETA on that yet either, but we are making excellent progress.

Except when you're at 2 health and there's absolutely no health kits around.
Not saying that that'll happen in SR4. They actually have a good strategy.

Enemies drop health when killed.

If I'm alright to ask, being a member of the public, what can we expect from the SDK? I don't really know what they're for.
So, what does this actually mean to the average Saints Row player? In simple terms, the modding community will finally be able to create and offer new clothing, new vehicles, new guns, new npcs, new missions, and even new world geometry which will greatly extend the life of the series and enhance the Saints Row games in ways we never even dared to dream of.
