Double Action: Boogaloo, A Stylish Multiplayer Action Game
This definitely look interesting, although one thing that racks my brain is the question of how do you handle the slo-mo in this multiplayer versus game?
Does one person activating slo-mo cause slo-mo to happen for everyone, or is there some sort of clientside sorcery involved to make it slow down for the one person but not everyone else? I imagine it's the former, since I think the latter would require either very special coding or some form of actual time dilation.
It's line of sight based. Anyone who can see someone who's in slow motion, enters slow motion themselves.
Intriguing... So basically if some people are looking at a slo-mo guy, they get slo-mo, but people elsewhere in the map who aren't looking at the spectacle move in real time?
Now I know this, it all seems so simple, yet it's also ingenious! You and your team certainly figured out one hell of a system.

To me, if I were to implement Slo-mo into an multiplayer game, I would make it when a player activates slo-mo to have a sort of sphere-of-effect around him that would slow everything down (players, bullets and projectiles) in range.
So if a player who's not in slow-mo decides to shoot a player in slo-mo, he would find that his bullet will be slower once it enters the sphere-of-effect.
The only problem is that the bullet themselves would have to be a projectile which I don't think is easy to implement in a Source engine game.

Huh, what if the slo-mo guy sees someone who doesn't see them
yeah the slow-mo works like it does in max payne 3 multiplayer
you're only in slow-mo if someone is pointing at you, or if you see people going into slow-mo, or are pointing at someone when activating it.
Not electric 3/10.
Loving this game but the shotgun does feel a little bullshit.
Played it yesterday, really fun game.
My only complaint is that some of the weapon balance is a bit wonky. The semi-auto rifle is useless while the full auto one wrecks house with it's high range and damage; I went on a 14 kill streak with that thing on the rooftop map.

Ive used the semi rifle on larger maps but only with marksman perk

But the full auto rifle is just as accurate when focused and is more effective in close range. It's trying to fill a niche that is already taken.
I like to just use Brawl and punch everyone
Bouncer skill or not, it works remarkably well

learn to aim, you fools. those guns are plenty good.
I find sliding while aiming in with the shotgun very effective in dealing damage while not taking it yourself.

I interpreted "bullshit" as overpowered. The gun seems the most viable of all of them and entire servers end up using them.
I only play as Athletic. If I can tell where I am or where I'm going, there is a problem.

Game-breaking bug.
you can wall jump, and chain jumps.
I usually just pick two pistols. Brawler and dive shoot things a lot. Closer people I dive forward and punch them in the face.
Divepunching is awesome
Played the game, Damn fun.
But, there is some kinda 'unfair' moments in the game.
Like, someone is beating everyone with freaking bare hands and pistol stock and getting like 3000 stylish points XD

As someone who just brawls and dives mainly I don't see how thats "unfair". You get points by being fancy pants with your kills.
This doesn't even touch how good TS was, but it's still pretty fun and getting better
dumbest fun I've had in a while, hope it only gets better
10/10 pretty good
There are a lot less Grenades being thrown about at each other now because the Nitrophilliac is the only "class" that gets them. It's a good start but i think the Grenade should be some sort of power weapon like in Specialists, something that you have to find and there's only one or two on the map that respawns once in a while. Although, I really don't want this turned into "The Specialists: Source" like some people have been suggesting. Unlike Specialists, this isn't an absolute bitch to get into.
For some reason, I have more luck with a single hand gun than a double and I always fall back to Marksman. That might have something to do with my avid use of the Vindicator though.
...Speaking of Specialists, i didn't notice someone was making a certain... memorable map from it.

I think Total Biscuit mentioned about this in one of his tweets.

Akimbo weapons' bullet trajectories are parallel, offset a foot apart from each other. Oftentimes you'll be shooting on either side of your foe's head. The map is terrible and cramped, by the way. It follows almost none of the mapping philosophies of DA.
Hey guys, I'm the jerk who ruined The Specialists and tried to atone for it by making Double Action. I'm glad people seem to like it. Any hate mail and/or bug reports and/or feature requests can be directed to me.
Hopefully Wall Running and more indepth kung-fu/brawling will be implemented in the future
I don't mean like to the full extent that the kung-fu was in TS, but some special moves would be fun. Perhaps some moves that are unique to Athletic as well as Brawler?
Ohh, and .44 Revolvers. Why were these not a thing from the beginning?
This game is shit, it doesn't have a double barreled shotgun, sideways pistols or even a single minigun. Sure it's probably one of the funnest things I've played all year, but fun doesn't mean shit if I can't hold my pistols bandit style :(
Yea that shit is all in our plans. We have a lot of stuff we want to add. I'm trying to avoid high caliber weapons because the game is already lethal enough, but we'll have to get some kind of revolver in there eventually.
Why were they not implemented from the beginning, because it's a free game and I'm not the one making the weapon models so I take what I can get, which is mostly weapon models made for other purposes that were donated to us.
This seems like a good opportunity to put in a quick plug - we are always looking for good artists, particularly animators. Information about how to help is on our website.

What about swords? Impractical but stylish. Also got any plans for more playable characters in the future? Like a stereotypical shirtless guy with a bandana, barefooted action hero with a tattered wife beater shirt, and maybe a cyborg/robot?
A knight would be funny too
