You can't turn the fan off. Thus, 4chaners/trolls like to trick other people into thinking that you have to turn off the fan in order to save power or not get noticed as easily.
So, the paycheck says 11-13-XX on the sixth day. The Murder happened on 6-26-XX. Same year perhaps? The bite happened on '87. Trying to figure out if this stuff fits together.
Annnd, for some reason the owner is named Mike Schmidt after the baseball player.

Amnesia The Dark Descent is a very good game. It typically ramps up the tension rather than throwing it at you. I hate horror games and I think TDD is fantastic.

it becomes incredibly simple once you realize that "music = sit in the dark and wait" will win you the game

Not sure if it's any significance, but I believe 11/13 is a Friday the 13th next year. That's probably nothing though, could the amount of money have some significance? $120.50 strikes me as an odd amount.
Also Mike Schmidt is who the check is for, not from.

The difference being with this game is that it's not some half-assed Unity level with a couple of downloaded assets.
I truly hope this game isn't one of those games that dies in the eyes of Facepunch. I hope it stays in (Mostly) high regard like that of Amnesia.
