Five Nights at Freddy's. The indie horror game where animatronics from a pizzaria try to murder you
This is like asking why the eagles didn't just fly the ring to Mordor.
Because the Eye of Sauron would spot them and send nazgul to bring them down, then recover the ring from their corpses.

that's a pretty big problem i have with lord of the rings too, it's a really sloppy fantasy. there are plenty of other fantasies with tighter plots i could watch instead
Or you could stop expecting an indie horror game with such a silly premise in the first place to have as concrete of a plot or the same quality of writing as Citizen Kane. Either way it makes for a fun game so why does it matter?
why would one of the robots tell you how to not get killed by robots?
also, how would you be able to keep them in the building? they kill you as soon as they see you
also, why does a pizzeria have such little power? power doesn't work this way. is it not connected to the power grid? how come you can barely run a light for long, but there appears to be many other lights on in the pizzeria that aren't effecting your power usage?
if murderous robots are such a hazard, why is your only safety against them tied to your very very little power? why hasn't anybody installed a good old fashioned lock on the doors? if if is the robot who called you there, and he wants you to get murdered, why are there any closable doors there at all? i have more questions about this than i did prometheus
do you see how I can't really get immersed in this game?
rusty you (and many others) are thinking waaaaay too much into a simple $5 horror game, just get spooked or not and leave it at that.
Apparently someone tried to use Cheat Engine on this game for infinite battery power, and the game was coded to recognize this and spammed a message at him while hiding digits. [sp]And Freddy can get you on Night 5 and beyond even if you have both doors locked.[/sp]
Seriously, just don't even acknowledge him when he comes in to threads. He's just trolling because it quite clearly gets a response. You are not obligate to entertain his actions.

A Message?

you're over stating how much it would require to fix this game's premise. quick being an apologist for lazy writing!
so I played this
Thought this was awesomely atmospheric but I don't think it has much replay value
It's crazy how fast t's blowing up, it went form /v/ and then in a couple days it's going to be old hat to all of us
and we'll pretendw e don't like it
But now it's really cool.

why is it automatically trolling because i make comments that the idea is cool but the premise having such huge holes in it is preventing me from becoming immersed?
check it out: the place has been closed for maintenance and has been disconnected from the grid for safety reasons. the little power you require to keep an eye on the place is coming from a generator.
reason for lack of power = fixed. it's not hard! but as it is i can't swallow any of this game and it keeps it feeling 'gamey' and thus harder to take seriously and harder to get scared from.
I agree on the idea that premise is god tier but I think the execution needs to be refined, cause right now it feels like a tech demo.
As for the shit Rusty and several other people have pointed out, it's the same type of people who go "HOW COME HAIRCUTS IN GTA CAN GROW HAIR? HOW COME I CAN LOOT AMMO FROM AN EYE IN FALLOUT?"
literally no one gives a shit on that front, it's a video game. The deadpan delivery of the previous worker was funny, got me into the game more because it made it seem like this is just a part of working here

I see it as a concept that can grow, seeing as its on greenlight its going to get bigger through updates, i hope it gets a more storied campaign in the same vein as Paper's Please.

Why are you telling us the problems instead of the developer if you want them fixed?

that's not the same at all. with such limited player functionality, eg, swivel camera, hit 2 buttons, that stuff is absolutely not an issue. the problems come from the premise, not from video game tropes.
why is it automatically trolling because i make comments that the idea is cool but the premise having such huge holes in it is preventing me from becoming immersed?
Because it seems like you do this for everything.
Why are you telling us the problems instead of the developer if you want them fixed?
gee next you'll be telling me why do people review movies instead of just emailing the directors with all the problems?

Great comparison, actually. I played the beta of papers please and thought if they tightened it up it'd be a strong contender for GOAT and it worked!
Personally I'd toss in a bit more story elements. Thats my favorite part of these games.
Although a man has to wonder how much was intentional and how much of this has been completely created by the community. I'm guessing loads.
It was fun sitting in streams of people palying Day 6 desperate to finda secret meaning. Reminded me of pawing through metroid as a kid looking for goodies.

Maybe I don't entirely follow. I think the premise is great and it doesn't bother me that you can't leave and you can't get normal doors etc suspension of disbelief.
I do agree with you that there needs to be a bit more BUT I have no idea what. I find that while it's tense as hell a lot of the game is me waiting, and I guess taht's the point?
I'm rambling.
gee next you'll be telling me why do people review movies instead of just emailing the directors with all the problems?
The game is still pretty recent and unlike movies can be updated regularly. I was simply wondering if you voiced your problems at all with the people who can actually fix the issues you have. As others have stated, the game can grow with updates and if you voice your opinions they will certainly listen to them.
you guys notice asartha rates all of rusty's posts positive
fucking mod conspiracy right here
Does anyone else think the graphics of this game are really charming? They really remind me of those almost off brand PC Point and clicks you'd get in the nineties
I really like this. Which is unsurprising. It's popular and things are popular for a reason. I'm going to be dissapointed when this becomes Slender.

well no as I don't have much of an investment in the game other than liking the idea behind it but you're welcome to tell them some guy on the internet has some pointers for them if you want?
does the full game have any graphics options (resolution?)
rusty semi-irrelvant but did you like PT?
I know the only similarities are "Spooky 1st person" but they're both at the same time and it's making me really happy that Good Spook is popular. Amnesia was great but man did it spawn so many shitty clones.
there are no options, or a menu at all
Yep, sucks because I'm playing on a 60hz TV. Just enabled Vsync through Nvidia Control Panel. No more screen tearing!

It reminds me of the original Fallouts when you talk to someone, I love it.

yea, lots and lots
i hated amnesia though, especially the one with the pigs. i literally just walked past all the pigs, colonial marines style.
also am I the only one who thinks the duck looks absolutely ridiculous when it just hangs out in the window trying to look spooky? It stays there for way too long doing nothing in a not particularly frightening pose, and ends up looking like the movie Howard the Duck
whereas, when you find them on the cameras twitching like a Silent Hill / Jacobs ladder monster, mmf that's spook

they twitch? i haven't seen them do any sort of body horror, that would be cool

Machine for Pigs was a Dear Esther clone, I can't condone that, but really? I know Amnesia has a shitty rep these days becuase of how hard it got milked by hacks like Markiplier and Pewdiepie but Amnesia has some really solid atmosphere
It really drops in the second half though (the finale is incredibly tedious and boring) but the prison cell stuff was great.

Yeah, sometimes they just spas out looking a lot like the Lying figures from silent hill 2. That's when they're the creepiest I think.
the uncanny valley works REALLY well here, like that guy was saying having them look like classic Fallout NPC's makes you aware they're not real but they shouldn';t be moving! How are they moving? AAGH

Yeah, from what I've seen when that happens it's less "OH MY GOD I'M SHITTING MYSELF" and more "oh my god fuck off you're using up all my power you piece of shit".

the only one i've seen move was the wolf, the rest just stand still. it's not very spooky.

Yeah, it would be nice if we got a few more glimpses of actual movement.
