It could also be that he's just being nonspecific, using default pronouns, and doesn't actually mean anything by it beyond what he's actually directly saying.

If a creator really wants to play mystery with their character, I wish they would at least do it equally so that 100% of the fandom is confused, rather than 50% getting the hint and the other 50% being in denial.

Bonnie's expression in this sums up exactly what I find creepy about him/her/it (and also why it's my favorite animatronic!) - that creepy, eyebrowless, face and huge staring eyes. Somehow that combo is just perfect.
