Five Nights at Freddy's. The indie horror game where animatronics from a pizzaria try to murder you

Jeez, this certainly blew up didn't it? I'm really glad we're seeing more of the game now.
Also, something my gf noticed- the promotional material says the new animatronics have "face recognition software." Does this mean they'll be fine with your normal face, but wearing the mask when they're around make them think you're an old animatronic and "not supposed to be out front"?

Where did she see that? In the trailer or one of the Steam pictures?

In Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the old and aging animatronics are joined by a new cast of characters. They are kid-friendly, updated with the latest in facial recognition technology, tied into local criminal databases, and promise to put on a safe and entertaining show for kids and grown-ups alike!
Also I just noticed that Mike did complain about the Animatronics coming to kill him, which then made them shove him onto Dayshift. I completely misread that.

Like said before in the thread, "dayshift" could easily be code for getting fired, or worse, [sp]forced to perform inside an animatronic suit.[/sp]

that would make sense, with the new animatronics you'd have to keep the mask off so the facial recognition can tell it's you and not one of the old animatronics, with the old animatronics you'd have to quickly disguise as one of them or get caught and killed
maybe the new animatronics aren't as much of a threat as the old ones, they just check on you every so often and you have to quickly figure out if you should be hiding from them or not
So.. the mask doesn't require power. I can't see how it would.
Maybe it works only on the old crew seeing an old Freddy, but the new crew act violently towards it?
Maybe the new ones get fooled for a little while but they see through your shit and the older ones get fooled at first but then they think you're spare parts (see how they're constantly trying to rebuild themselves) and they tear your shit apart ?
Also judging by foxy's scream at the end of the trailer, it sounds like Scott got rid of the overly high-pitched screech and replaced it with something more kind on the ear. Thank god.
I just had a fucking creepy thought about the kids' drawings on the walls. There's a couple elements about them that are just plain unfitting and wrong for normal children's drawings.
The children's drawings are basic like you'd expect, but they're also startlingly-accurate depictions of the mascots considering the medium. Also, the children are mostly depicted as either happy about getting gifts or destructive/oblivious, painting them as selfish little shitheads. One more thing worth noting is that they're all consistently-styled, with the kids being roughly the same set of designs repeating, whereas the animatronics are consistently creepy-looking as in reality despite drawing differences.
This is all despite the fact that even really stupid/oblivious kids would frequently take one look at the animatronics and piss themselves in fear, running away and not staying to draw a single goddamn thing. That, or they'd focus on whatever random gift they're being given as shown, or just focus on the music and sounds.
With all of this in mind, I don't think these kids' drawings really fit the basic concepts behind kids' drawings. Rather, they look a lot more like whoever was interacting with the kids chose to draw them, keeping some form of strange memoirs regarding both the good ones and the bad ones they met.
Basically, I think the animatronics drew those pictures, not the kids. The animatronics might be cataloguing their memories of encountering individual children, all of whom are just a random face in a sea of visitors day-in and day-out, hence the sameness of all the drawn kids.
It wouldn't be a massive stretch to assume that, between the ample supply of crayons and paper most certainly on hand, the animatronics being loose at night without much to do and the apparent new story angle of the kids being abusive jerks, the animatronics have been making drawings and putting them up at night when no one is looking. Anyone who comes by for the day shift and sees the drawings could easily just pass it off as other employees putting them up, who themselves would just assume the same.
If this theory of mine is correct, then holy shit, these things are possibly capable of empathy and emotion on some level, perhaps a fittingly child-like one. Considering that they're left in the dark all night long with nothing to do and no one to interact with besides themselves plus a possible night-shift guard, it makes sense that they'd take up drawing to pass the time and write down their feelings in a sense, as actual kids might. Hell, maybe their murderous intent is less "well-aware psychopathic killing machine" and more "frightened, angry and/or sad child-minded/child-soul-infused being lashing out at the only target available".
I'm not sure how the new animatronics might fit into this though. If the old vs. new aggressive conflict is going on, then it could really be either side proving sympathetic. Maybe it's the old crew, saddened and enraged by their replacement. Maybe it's the new guys, who are a tiny hint less murderous and more thoughtful than the previous models. Maybe it's both, or some weird mash-up of the two.
The fact that the only "new crew" drawings are of Female Foxy being torn apart, combined with the fact that Bonnie has a face in the group drawing leads me to think these are drawn by the old animatronics. The new ones are probably soulless like people sometimes claim many modern redesigns are, both truly-robotic in action and lacking whatever makes the old ones so strangely-alive in mind.
Maybe I'm just rambling on and not making much sense. Either way, take a good look at the drawings both individually and as a whole group, and see if they look a bit off to you too in this sense.
You may be right about the new ones being soulless since they use facial recognition according to the greenlight description.
They're probably looking for an intruder because they weren't coded properly to make the distinction between that and the night shift guard.
The part I'm curious about is that it says that they are tied into "the latest computerized criminal database" or whatever. What does that even mean?

I can't think of any good, sensible reason for the new animatronics in a children's pizza parlor to be specifically capable of identifying known criminals. Even if it was explained as "to keep the kids visiting safe" or something, that's still an unbelievably-strange thing to put into an animatronic that's mostly made to stand in place and pretend to sing or play an instrument.
Potentially fucked-up and horrifying reasons for equipping them with this technology, however, are abound. For example, figuring out who among the adults present is a wanted or released criminal, and then whisking them away for whatever dark purpose when the opportunity arises, with the knowledge that a recorded criminal has less chance of being missed by anyone.

that or....
stop what happened many years ago that involved 5 kids going missing, which on top of that scott did mention that Phone Guy and Mike have some sort of connection to those 5 kids a long while back (it was mentioned in this thread but I'm still flipping thru it). Remember it appears that the pizzeria was bought and rebuilt by the new owners who seem to have money to also buy such a program into the new bots.

Well couple that with facial recognition. I think that they're given these capabilities to prevent a repeat episode of the murders from way back when.
It gets disturbing when you realize that 1. If the new animatronics are chasing you, there is a reason. They're pretty high tech and likely not possessed, so they aren't just indiscriminate killers. They have facial recognition software so they can tell you're human. 2. Scott said mike and pg were tied into the kids' murders ssomehow.

Which could mean why you need the empty freddy head as 1. They recognize you as you did something criminal (we dont know what level of crime these things scan at) or 2. its faulty and they designated you as a criminal.
Something else that now popped up in my head:
"Why are these animatronics ALSO walking around at night?" the old ones had problems thus made to be stationary during the day and free walk at night to prevent themselves from locking up. So why are these new ones up and about? unless they too suffer from the same problem?

oh boy, cant wait to play the new pizzeria in slenderfortress with now 8 animatronics after you :V (though probably end up being randomized 4 of the 8 them at a time to conserve space.)
I drew Bonnie 2.0

the game was announced like a month after the first game, as well as teasers for a few weeks. this is just the official trailer.
I've been looking at the trailers and stuff and I figured some stuff out.
- The ! on the camera map is for Foxy, as it can be seen when Foxy jumps at you.
- Or it indicates the power going out, unsure since in the Teaser Image with the Mask and Foxy, it looks like the Power is out but the ! isn't there, but neither is the hub. And in the trailer the ! near Camera 11 seems out of place if it was for the power, unless the Lights/Camera have their own Battery in each one, and it shows that the Battery is running out of power for said Light/Camera.
- The weird thing near Chica in the greenlight picture appears to be Foxy, and the Endoskeleton appears to be out like in the Trailer and the other greenlight picture, so it is safe to assume we will be seeing the Endoskeleton when Foxy is coming to us.
- Old and New Foxy go different ways, new foxy on Camera 07 and old on Camera 11. Assuming the ! means Foxy, which is also unsure since if the ! is for Foxy, then why not have it for New Foxy and the other animatronics?
- Old Foxy appears in two ways, the leap as seen in the trailer and standing/walking down the hallway as seen in the Teaser image for the mask.
- Chica's cupcake returns.
- Everything flashes when Old Bonnie is in front of you, though it could be a glitch.
- It appears they tried to redesign the original 4 as seen with Old Freddy having Bonnie's Face, new Eyelashes and buttons. It can also explain why Old Foxy has a pointed mouth instead of a rounded mouth.
- Old Bonnie seems to have a more pointed jaw compared to the Original Bonnie in the first game.
- Golden Freddy might be hinted at since in some of the drawings there is a Yellow Freddy, no Rosy cheeks and no eyes, not to mention the mouth is open just like Golden Freddy's from the original.
- There are apparently more Animatronics than seen in the trailer or pictures, this is if Scott is in fact using cut Animatronics from the original game like he said he would.
I don't know why but i'm suddenly imagining Golden Freddy hallucinations occurring by trying to abuse the Freddy mask.

well i meant that etc. stop being such a stickler
Awesome. Was not expecting to see a trailer this soon. I actually laughed when you heard the phone guy chime in as well :D
It seems like Scott is giving this his all; and I'm very excited to play the sequel because of it.
