The backstory and the lack of any explanation of what's going on scare me too. Sure, the jumpscares are shocking at first, but it's pretty much your own self that makes the game scary, whether from trying to form a sane explanation of how Golden Freddy is able to appear as a giant head in the hallway, to worrying that balloon boy will get in the office while you crank the music box. Not only that, but how many other games have you played where you don't get an option to hide, run, and/or defend yourself?

I mean, it's not always discussing about the gameplay but more behind the game's lore that makes it more interesting.
