Edit: If the deadly robutts are fine with the endoskeleton in the backroom why doesn't the guard just go chill in there? Sure you don't have any doors to protect you but you wouldn't need it right.

There are things called "birds" that exist, don't worry.
Cause the guard probably doesn't realize that's a technical safe place, plus they'd probably catch you beforehand.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but Word of God is that telephone guy is an unreliable narrator. He's telling you his best explanation for the situation, but that doesn't mean it's accurate and correct, only that it's his earnest best. (If telephone guy isn't just flatly lying to us the whole time.)
I'm trying to come up with a backstory that doesn't rely on the supernatural, even if it involves mad science like powering the robots with human brains and hearts (we never see the full animatronic bodies in blueprint-style detail, so hey). Yellow Freddy, however, completely fucks with this notion unless he's purely a figment of Mike's subconscious as the fear drives him insane.
One thing I just want to remind everyone who's thinking about the lore. The last of the news posters that replace the rules talks about how Freddy's will be closing at the end of the year after "many years" of struggling to reverse the decline after the horrible incidents...
A [B]lot[/B] of security guards have either been killed or scared out of the job. We can assume that nobody will listen to the escapees because that spoils the entire plot, but this leaves us with a question about the dead ones: Where did they go? If we assume guards live/last around one week, that's up to 52 guards a year, and many probably get "suited up" on the first or second night so it could be much higher. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that five years have passed. That is a very nontrivial amount of human tissue that needs to go somewhere. I mean, yes, stuffed into suits, but if human flesh is putrefacting fast enough to go through a new set of guards every five weeks, that place should've been bombed from orbit long ago.

I think phone guy has been misled about "The Bite of '87", and that's the company's name for the incident with the five dead kids in a bit of rewriting history for PR spin. Some poor fuck (probably the security guard!) got thrown under the bus to prevent the place being shut down for killer robots, and they were grounded.
Which makes me think Foxy did it, unless Yellow Freddy is the real evil. As I said, I still don't know what to think about him. I believe he's an insanity effect, because he actually makes you "pass out" by closing the game, if that can be assumed to be an intentional shutdown and not a CTD bug. He just teleports in when you see Freddy's poster (like a traumatic hallucination).

Maybe he's not on, and they simply can't turn the animatronics off. All they can do is dismantle them enough so the parts can't do much on their own (hence why the detached masks still look at you every now and then) and make them follow rules like stay in the back room if you don't have a suit.

Personally, i think they are robots that have developed a consciousness. Now i wanna cut the fat here and go into some detail.
A Passive Consciousness is one that revolves around your senses, in this case seeing,touching,hearing,tasting ectra.
A Active Consciousness is the one that makes decisions.
I like to think as these Animatronics as robots because clearly they display a higher intelligence above just simple autonomatons. Unless you think they are haunted, i think otherwise and this is why.
The Fear of Creation, is one of the strongest fears we have as a species. Think HAL 9000, we made him exactly to follow his parameters and he still went mad and would kill the crew in order to complete "the mission". I like to think of these robots different to HAL though, except where as i feel HAL can make active planning in multiple spectrums each of the robots can do only specific actions, orders ectra. We actively live in a world where robots are slowly overtaking our lives.
So what im saying is although these guys have a Passive Consciousness, they do not act under their own will. Foxy will jump out of Pirate Cove, Chico and Bonnie can sneak in, and Freddy is the ace in the hole ectra. They all have a programmed pattern, although inconsistent in places they always go back to their rules. The Guard on either Day 1 and 2 sorta mentions the fact they have these sorts of rules. They think your a exoskeleton if they spot you for example. Similar to robots. The only one that sorta worries me with this one is Freddy, Freddy actively learns from you and displays a higher learning function. This probably makes him the worst out of the lot because what is worse then a robot that can catch you, find you,scare you and kill you in any circumstance? That they can out think you. There is a reason that a Robot can beat even the finest of chess champions.
This implies a couple of things, that someone either designed them with these parameters or they defined them by themselves which is sorta insane seeing how these are just meant to be simple automatons. Thinking back to Day 5's Cleaned up recording, i believe that either these weren't originally designed as Automatons at all, but instead as something else entirely and what that is we don't know at all, that they were made to kill you, learn from you or whatever. They know they are fucking with you. This might even explain some of the weirder stuff that they manage to pull on you, especially from Freddy's end.
Now the thing about this is we literally know nothing beyond what is told/seen through the game and likely this is probably bullshit but what im trying to get at is this. They were designed to be like this.
Robots are Built, sometimes by other robots but nothing is ever like this unless its either by design or oversight. Asimov's Laws obviously didn't apply when Frazbear Entertainment bought them. So either someone really fucked up or something really wanted children and people to die and to me that is the great unknown. We don't know what the commands truly extend to, how they act in the day, how many they have really killed or how they are able to do the things they do and thats probably the greatest part of a horror. Great Horror knows how to set your imagination alight by feeding you tiny details that span as a greater whole.
I don't think this is a "Haunting", in the sense they are ghosts. I think they are haunted in the sense that they are empty souls, they don't think or feel in the same way we do. They have commands, they have procedure, there is no emotion even though they might show it. When they decide its time for you to go, your gone. You could go really crazy with the idea that they are robots but that still doesn't answer the 9 Billion Questions that come afterwards that probably won't be answered.
Im not too sure where yellow freddy fits in all of this but apparently the dev considers him a easter egg.
Anyway, that is all ive got to say on the subject. As per usual as long as its not ghosts its interesting, because god knows ghosts possessing childhood sentiments haven't been done before.

Wondering if day 7 is canon or not.
And I really prefer the idea that the robots at freddy's are just really, REALLY good AI that happened to be traumatized by the child killings and progressively got more fucked in the head. Maybe they somehow came to the conclusion that they need limbs and blood to function properly so they stuff guards into their suits, which would explain why they've been constantly oozing blood and mucus and why the liquids seemingly never dried off.
Or maybe they're trying to "create" new animatronics by stuffing what they think is an endoskeleton into an empty suit so they can catch a break by sending another one do their job.

Survived my first night. Could have done without Bonnie leering in front of the left door for a whole hour. He vanished off the face of the damn Earth after that too, couldn't find him anywhere.
I think it's time to take a preemptive shit before I tackle night 2.
I noticed when looking at these stills, when they have the beady white eyes, it's just their normal eyes, just with a different glow map. So instead of their entire eye being illuminated it's just the center. I thought they changed eyes somehow. This makes more sense.

People are saying that once Freddy goes mainstream everything will go down the shitter, but IMO I don't foresee that happening. There's just so much to take in and understand how the game works in order to be successful at it that your everyday casual player couldn't figure out how to beware the bear. Especially when you see those streamers and Let's Players who can't figure out jack shit about the game because they're trying to rush through the important phone calls and just swapping between cameras left and right nonstop. That's why they always get fucked over by Foxy and Golden Freddy.
So let's take this time to wallow in our success of people who legitimately understand how FN@F works and keep the game awesome.

It's still terrifying to me when you realize they're doing that right up in your face.
That's night two down. Ended with both Bonnie and Chica waiting outside my doors, and Foxy leaning out of his tent, power at 6%. The 6AM chime was like a choir of angels.
